I’m Misc (naming myself after my username because it seemed fun idk!)

I’ve been writing agere fics for a few years for a few different fandoms but I’m currently very into heated rivalry (please ramble to me omg).

If you have requests for short heated rivalry agere ficlets pls send them through! Happy to do either/both regressor Shane and regressor Ilya, and I’ve now finally read role model/tlg so happy to include the centaurs too!

in my heart Shane had absolutely no sense of danger or self preservation growing up. he was 100% the type of kid who would just casually run out into the road and scare the hell out of David and Yuna while doing so. as a toddler they had to babyproof the house SO much because he would just Climb Things. David looks away for 2 minutes and Shane is just. on top of the fridge.

this is ABSOLUTELY applying to when Shane is little now...he's absolutely a runner and he will just Take Off with absolutely zero warning. Ilya would have so much fun taking little Shane to the zoo but he'd definitely need one of those toddler harnesses bc he knows Shane WILL get excited and run off. no myshane you cannot pet the lions. yes I know they look like big soft kitties but they have big sharp teeth...

(Shane is very distraught that he can't pet the lions but Ilya gets him a stuffed lion from the gift ship and he's happy again 💗)

OMG LITTLE SHANE WITH A TODDLER HARNESS 😭

I love this hc, envisioning Yuna and David turning their back for two (2) seconds while they’re near the forest and then suddenly Shane is at the very top of the tallest tree in the vicinity…

Shane abaolutely has sooooo much energy like this boy cannot relax (unless thoroughly tired out…or craving cuddles, but he will often still squirm during cuddle time). I also think Shane Needs to touch things like he needs to get his hands on stuff. Sometimes hes like oh that is. not a nice texture to touch. But he needs to try at least once.

SHANE IS ABSOLUTELY SUCH A RUNNER, genuinely gives Ilya a run for his money with stamina while he’s little lol! Shane is running away and Ilya tries to get sympathy points by pretending to dramatically collapse to the grass in exhaustion and being like ‘Shane…don’t leave me…please, I beg…’ but Shane just circles back around, pokes at Ilya a few times with a stick he found, and then takes off again.

Shane wanting to pat the lionsssssss 😔 he is genuinely so sad about this, Ilya tries to patiently explain the possibility of being eaten, but what really gets Shane to settle is Ilya explaining that the lion might get stressed out if Shane goes down there. And Shane’s like hmmm…okay. Does not have self-preservation instincts but he doesn’t wanna stress the big kitties out!!

THIS IS MY FAVE CONCEPT EVER Omg lol! The centaurs are pulling the silliest faces, doing the loudest most exaggerated cooing, doing whole slapstick comedy routines between themselves, and baby Ilya is still just blinking at them with tears in his eyes. Then Shane just steps into the room, not even talking yet or anything, and Ilya just blooms like a sunflower immediately and starts smiling and reaching for him, no pout to be found anywhere.

The centaurs are sooooo (playfully) angry like that was literally so rigged Shane didn’t even do a cartwheel like I did wtf 😠 Shane walks up to Ilya and scoops him up immediately obvi like ‘hi baby!’ Once Ilya settles and has had adequate cuddles with Papa, one of the centaurs tentatively tries another silly face and this time Ilya smiles. Bc he feels safe and more open now he’s being held by Shane. So now the competition becomes: who can make the baby laugh first…

Shane is used to Ilya being tiny and the baby of all babies but one time Ilya is Toddler and he isn't listening very well (throwing a fit about putting toys up, running away from Shane at the lake, yk normal kid things) and Shane does NOT know what to do!! and eventually he starts getting like actually anxious for bedtime (imagine having to tell 3yearold Ilya it's time to stop playing and go to sleep) but by then Ilya is Tiny again and Shane is ashamed for being relieved

Oh I can definitely see Shane feeling overwhelmed with toddler!Ilya if Ilya is in a more rambuctious/defiant mood! Although if it does reach a point where Shane is genuinely starting to feel anxious for bedtime, I do think this is something they would have to have a talk around while Ilya is big 😭 oh dear! Shane is pretty energetic himself so its not a problem of keeping up with ilya per se, but I think he might struggle and feel very uncertain at first with navigating tantrums and defiance and Ilya inadvertently putting himself into dangerous situations by running away, climbing certain things, etc. I think considering Ilya’s background, Shane would be hesitant with punishments and more inclined to try and talk through things and use timeouts, and use positive reinforcement, etc.

Once Shane coaxes Ilya into talking through things, he starts to develop some structure in his head for navigating that (envisioning a conversation flow tree with different dialogue options in my head LMAO, maybe I am projecting though). And also develops some strategies to reduce the chance of tantrums/frustrated tears, like if asking Ilya to stop playing for bedtime is an issue, maybe Shane finds a little (less stimulating) game they can do for once Ilya is in bed, like maybe Shane hides some stuff Ilya needs to get ready around the bedroom (pajama’s, teether/paci, stuffed toy, etc) and once Ilya finds all of them it’s bedtime :3 Or maybe some couples yoga stretches on the bed that little ilya finds fun…maybe Shane tells Ilya it’s time to get his plushies ready for bed and tucked in…

Makes things a lot more manageable while Ilya is regressed toddler age, but I think Shane would ultimately rlly love when Ilya is baby bcs theres less rules needed, ilya just needs love and affection and lots of chances to play and feel things out, and if he’s crying it’s pretty obvious immediately why!

ilya has to have a "curly girl" routine, right? what would that look like when hes Baby? would shane do it for him, especially during Extended Babymaxxing (ie: a whole weekend of Baby?) or would they just forgo it until ilyas Big again?

Okay so I think Ilya would definitely have some basic curly girl measures he takes to look after/style his curls, but this also made me think of that interview connor storrie did where he was asked what he does with his hair day to day and he just said he washes and air dries it 😭 omg miracle. A part of me can also see Ilya just winging it like that sometimes lol, but obviously they did style Connor’s hair for the show!!

I think Shane would start to become familiar with how Ilya maintains his hair, bc Ilya would shower so frequently after practice/workouts/games he def wouldn’t be shampooing every time, mostly co-washing to keep his curls hydrated. And then if he’s going out, would probably use some curl-defining cream or maybe a soft matte pomade if hes focusing on styling it more. I can definitely see Shane taking an interest in this esp for while Ilya is baby!! Shane is def researching and buying ilya silk pillow cases and nice hair oils lol.

I am kind of soft at the idea of Shane helping the baby with his hair…like helping him co-wash and carefully drying his hair until its damp and then applying his curl cream! (I think it would be a slight struggle to get bby Ilya to tip his head upside down so that Shane can scrunch in the cream properly though lol…esp if the baby has a bunch of bath toys he’s distracted by! :0)

I can see it going either way, if Ilya is feeling more tolerant and patient then Shane might do some of the basics, but if Ilya’s a bit fussy or tired and just wants to sit on his bath seat and play with his bath toys, then Shane does his best and just lets it air dry I think…

Fun fact about attachment styles! Ilya can absolutely have a combo of avoidant and anxious - generally its called disorganized and its very common in ppl with traumatic childhoods (sorry ilya) you also can work to heal attachment styles and make them more healthy, theres therapy games and everything which could be a fun rabbit hole for shane to go down when it comes to taking care of his baby!!

Oh this is a fun fact thank you anon! Ilya definitely would tick the box for traumatic childhood 😔 sorry Ilya… I think a combination of those two definitely would def be applicable while Ilya is regressed (and while big honestly.)

Jumping on because I have been thinking about Shane taking Ilya to a play therapist recently....

Lots of structured games for toddler Ilya to help him develop trust and safety feelings with Shane, and role playing with a dolls house so Ilya can 'talk' about difficult memories that he can't find the words for

But especially with little baby Ilya the main thing is intense interaction!!!! Adult (therapist and then also Shane after the therapist explains to him how to do this at home) sets up a few different types of interactions around baby, then let's them take the lead on what they want to explore and do, adult joins in and follows them, things like if child goes to a drum and bangs adult joins in the rhythm, or makes the same noises back to them when baby babbles, it involves also a lot of eye contact and constant positive affirmation about spending time together, it adds the phrase "I'm so happy you're here" into Shane's lexicon to say to Ilya all the time and it makes him blush and have to hide his face every time

while big shane deflects compliments both physically and verbally, little shane isnt good at controling his expressions or body language. ilya is bouncing him on his lap, kissing his face, cooing at how cute his baby is, so sweet for him!! and shane is whining like he hates it but is hiding his smile in ilya’s neck and trying to sit even closer to papa even tho theyre as close as physically possible. this only serves to give ilya cuteness aggression so naturally he has to eat shane now.

You are absolutely so right anon omg Shane knows how to navigate/deflect compliments from Ilya while big, but his emotions can be a lot more intense while he’s baby and he really doesn’t have any semblance of deflecting like he usually would. So when Ilya is having the time of his life bouncing Shane in his lap and cooing compliments at him, Shane gets so happy like his chest gets all buzzy and warm and he Has To Smile and Has to like wiggle and squirm and try get closer. Ilya affectionately calls this the ‘worm’ phase of Shane receiving affection bc of (a) how squirmy and restless and happy Shane gets and (b) how Shane tries to burrow into Ilya’s chest and hide. Ilya absolutely gets cute aggression here, he has to nom at Shane at least a little bit, like so:

So when Shane goes to hold Ilya’s hand while the’re crossing a road Ilya is like like no Papa >:( Shane is so used to Ilya loving holding his hand so he makes a sad face and instinctively lets out a little ‘aw’ but is otherwise ready to move on and let it slide, but Ilya Hates to see Shane disappointed/sad even a little bit. So Shane is alarmed when ten seconds later Ilya is snatching up Shane’s hand while pouting and looking away from him.

Ilya’s pout fades in like two seconds bc hes like oh thats right i love this actually!

Once Shane figures out that if he acts sad little Ilya will instantly fold its so over for Ilya…Shane never overuses it or does it for malicious reasons ofc. But for example if Ilya is resisting regressing when he clearly needs it Shane will go ‘aw okay no baby time for papa then…’ and Ilya will hesitate for a few seconds and then tug at Shane’s shirt and go papa… >:( 🥺. If Ilya is regressed younger and is getting distracted and running around while they’re crossing the street Shane does have to get more stern and pull out the dada look like. ‘Ilya.’ And Ilya’s like >:( *grabs onto Shane’s hand* Shane tries to make it fun by swinging their hands <3
