At midnight, Pantone announced their colours of the year for 2016. I'm surprised it's two, but I'm excited to see how this translates into the world of beauty and fashion. I think both would be gorgeous as nail polish.

I wish I had known about this dupe earlier so I'm sharing with you! China Glaze's Wood You Wanna? is nearly identical to the luxurious Marc Jacobs' Petra I indulged in a couple months back. The differences? Slightly easier application of CG and slightly more dimension in glitter for MJ, which can make it a tinge lighter to the critical eye. Wear time between the two is comparable. So if you've been eyeing this beauty but don't want to spend that much, you'll be very happy with the cheaper alternative.
The third one I picked up from Nine Zero Lacquer is S'more Holo - a perfect taupe holographic. I didn't know how much I needed it in my nailpolish life until I got it. Paired with pedicure of September Sky a few days later (wear time was great)
Another gorgeous Holo by nine zero Lacquer - pumpkin everything!
How have I not shared this yet? This intense blue holographic looks even more amazing in person and part of the launch collection for the indie brand, Nine Zero Lacquer. It’s called September Sky.
Some more Halloween nail art inspired by Cutepolish's YouTube tutorial
Halloween nail art inspired by CutePolish’s recent YouTube tutorial. Super simple (but would’ve been better with a proper striper. Next time!) @nailpornography I used a brush that I feel is a bit too thick
I made these Frankenstein nails last year. I thought I'd do more nail art, but I think I loved them too much to do anything more.
‘Tis the season for berries and vampy colours. Some of them are quite similar, so I guess I have a type. From the 12-o’clock position (swatch photos linked where available):
- Sally Hansen Wine Not - China Glaze Heart of Africa - Ciaté Silhouette - Essie Wicked - Nails Inc Victoria - Sally Hansen Pat on the Black - OPI Black Cherry Chutney - Maybelline Wine and Forever - Sally Hansen Ruby Do - OPI From A to Pizzazz - Seche All Lit Up - OPI Bogota Blackberry
This swatch was taken two days after application, but I'm loving the wear of Revlon's Colorstay Gel Envy nailpolish. I have high roller and blackjack as well, but unlike those 1-2 coaters, All or Nothing took 4 coats to reach opacity. Worth it though.
Zoya's Demetria - a lovely warm red
Although I’ve loved nail polish for a long time, I had never had a professional salon pedicure (or manicure, but I think I’d keep the latter for myself). It was a great experience, albeit very difficult to choose a colour: All I know is I wanted something bright to close out the summer.
I decided on China Glaze’s Peonies & Park Ave, and after sitting in a massage chair, getting my feet soaked, pampered, and massaged, it was applied flawlessly. I even got a design on the big toe since that’s the only part I canot replicate it at home. (Although I think I’m going to try to get some neutral striping polishes and give it a try.)
And even with a price of more than a bottle of Marc Jacobs nailpolish, I think I’d do it again for the experience. Maybe monthly. Sometimes, you have to treat yourself.
Zoya’s Cecilia, which is a lot more vibrant than I can capture.
My Sephora order arrived and in it was Marc Jacobs' Petra nailpolish. I think I'm in love.
