AU where SY is a dragon but it's very obvious this is based on Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid. This is nebulous still because there's a chance I might just change everything and make the dragon equivalents dragons and ignore that some are demons.
(Kobayashi × Tohru equivalent) Yue Qingyuan is a salary man that had incredibly messy divorce with Shen Jiu and they haven't spoken in years. A dragon suddenly appears on his doorstep and says he's going to be his maid. YQY manages to get the dragon to calm down to a butler instead. Then he realizes that he agreed to the deal.
YQY had saved SY in a previous reincarnation (this being cultivation timeline and sy was a transmigrator but it's messy. I won't be explaining myself) and SY had been looking for him ever since his death. SY is dead set on merging their souls together so YQY can't ever die and leave him to mourn him again... PLATONICALLY OF COURSE BECAUSE SY IS STRAIGHT
SY is sooo normal about this guys. He's so straight, platonic best friend.
YQY eventually has to introduce SY to his colleague GYX because SY tried biting his head off. GYX takes it pretty well and is interested in the fact magical creatures are real.
Eventually YQY opens his door to aggressive knocking and finds a young man with a huadian on his forehead, horns, and a tail demanding to know what magic he used to seduce his gege. After calming him down, they sat inside while waiting for SY because he was grocery shopping.
When SY returns, the young man demands to know what is going on. SY fucks up and basically says they're married. YQY withers away a little in the back.
The young man (LBH) starts crying and saying that gege was supposed to marry him. SY dismisses him and tells him to go back. LBH refuses and stubbornly stays because he refuses to let his gege be stolen away so easily.
SY tells him he will have to do something productive if he's staying, so LBH gets enrolled in the local college.
(Kanna × Riko equivalent) LBH goes to school against his will and instantly starts beefing with a professor. Because said professor doesn't want to deal with LBH, he's usually stuck with the TA (Ming Fan). He spends so much time with the TA that he starts looking forward to it.
LBH is smart, but maybe he starts acting dumber and more clueless to be scolded and tutored. Through the course of the semester, LBH is actively pursuing MF. Even after no longer taking the course MF's in, he finds a way to coincidentally need MF's help.
It takes a while for MF to warm up to LBH, but eventually they're having totally-not-dates that were originally meant to be study sessions.
Now that you followed me into this abandoned warehouse without question *grabs you and shoves you into a burlap sack before you can escape and ties the sack closed*
(Quetzalcoatl and Shouta equivalent. The pairing in the show never say right with me) Now that professor that LBH was beefing with is SJ. SJ is from a family of sorcerers, but his magic is so weak it's basically non-existent. Of course he has a complex about it. It's actually why he and YQY divorced, SJ felt like YQY was just entertaining him and didn't actually believe him.
But FINALLY! He found a summoning spell he knows will work! He will show everyone that he is insane. He uses it and what pulls itself out of the spell is a dragon with the energy of a scheming rat. It taps his forehead and scolds him for using such a dangerous spell.
SJ demands for his name. The dragon introduces himself as Xiang Fei (sorta same situation as SY and I'm equally as lazy and not explaining myself). SJ forces XF to become his familiar since this is the first real proof of supernatural beings he has. XF agrees because he's positive this human will get himself killed otherwise
XF stays around, reminding SJ to eat, and helping SJ not get himself killed. Sometimes ending up with XF getting kicked out for flustering SJ, and he goes over to yueyuan until SJ decides he's allowed back.
Because of SJ's meddling, he accidentally awakens an ancient creature. This creature destroys a whole block before just disappearing.
YQY tells SY about it, and after a while of thinking SY asks YQY if any plays are going on. YQY tells him that around this time of year, many plays are held. SY then tells YQY they don't have to worry about anything because "he" will be too entertained to want to destroy anything.
(Takiya × Fafnir equivalent) MQF has been working overtime because some goddamn creature destroyed a block and the hospital was full. Finally, he has a break, and he decides to go watch a play.
After the show finishes the man beside him just randomly starts talking his ear off. MQF doesn't mind since he likes dissecting media he's consumed. He and the stranger talk and talk as they leave, and it's dark by now and MQF is soo very sleep deprived. So he doesn't really process the huadian, tail, and horns.
They end up in a cafe or something, and they're still talking. Eventually MQF collapses and the man he was talking to takes him with him to a safe place because he likes this human. This human can talk plays with him :3
When MQF wakes up, he's being cradled by a goddamn dragon WHAT?! The dragon introduces himself as Tianlang-jun and transforms back to a human form. Immediately TLJ tells MQF that there's another play and they should watch it together and talk even more.
MQF after being well rested for the first time in months to years (he did just straight up go unconscious for like two days) finally processes the fact he's talking to a dragon. He locks in because he did recognize TLJ as the beast that destroyed that block, and says he has to go to work.
TLJ is disappointed (but not hostile... Win?) and asks when they can see each other again. MQF gives a suggested time because if what it takes for him to not get more work is going on a date with a dragon, he's willing to risk it. TLJ agrees and does fly him back to town.
After a few dates, TLJ ends up just staying with MQF as a freeloader. At least he's fine enough company.
(Idk what equivalent this is. ZZL is like Elma and Fafnir mixed together) Since TLJ has just left suddenly, his nephew starts getting worried and looks for him. ZZL ends up finding SY first and asks where TLJ went. SY doesn't know, but he knows he's entertained at least because there hasn't been an attack since the first one.
ZZL ties finding TLJ with no success and ends up at SY and YQY's door in a depressive episode. They feel bad for him (LBH legit couldn't care less), so they plan an outing and invite GYX too because they need variety. GYX ends up promising ZZL to find his uncle.
ZZL agrees to work in the company so it's easier for them to go out looking right after. Then that evolves to living together. And eating together. And sleeping together. And— I lost the plot.
Eventually they find TLJ. And he's around MQF's arm like some trophy wife. He finally greets his nephew after disappearing and going missing for like at least a month with
I mean. At least they found him...
