I’m having a Loki Feels day. I keep reading how much he thirst for power, craved it above all else and I’m having a problem with that.  I don’t think he did crave power - he craved being seen, being acknowledged, being worthy.  And in Asgard, the only way to have that in his case was power.  

It’s not power that he needs, but people who accept him for who he is, admire his skills and character, people who find him valuable but don’t want to use him without giving in return.

Pretty sure that’s called acceptance, not power.

I think Steve's probably more neutral good than chaotic good, IMO.

A chaotic good character acts as his conscience directs him with little regard for what others expect of him. He makes his own way, but he’s kind and benevolent. He believes in goodness and right but has little use for laws and regulations. He hates it when people try to intimidate others and tell them what to do. He follows his own moral compass, which, although good, may not agree with that of society.

Chaotic good is the best alignment you can be because it combines a good heart with a free spirit.

Chaotic good can be a dangerous alignment when it disrupts the order of society and punishes those who do well for themselves. [x]

Steve in a nutshell.

Whereas, neutral good is doing what is good without bias for or against order — Steve has an immense bias for the order, a disregard for the chain of command, and generally a fuck it im gonna do the thing the thing is right attitude which absolutely does not belong with neutral good. Steve stands as the OPPOSITE SIDE. Steve is the guy who says, “No, YOU move.” Steve is chaotic good in every sense of the definition.

Take the most glorious example, in the Winter Soldier. Had Steve been neutral good, he’d have had to kill Bucky because the risk of Bucky fucking up his mission and resulting in the DEATH OF MILLIONS OF PEOPLE was incredibly high.

Steve had his own moral compass; Steve wasn’t going to kill Bucky; Steve was prepared to risk the mission because his best friend needed him. That is chaotic good at its finest, and it’s glorious.

THIS.  OMG THIS.  I tend to get very twitchy with goody-goody two-shoes Steve in fics because it doesn’t fit and it irks me.  It’s why he annoyed the hell out of me in Avengers, because he seemed too much a puppet for Fury.   

This?  This is the Steve I really like.  The Steve who questions and makes up his own mind.  He can be a bit aggressive, even a tad zealous, which is dangerous.  He has a really good read on people and a lot of compassion, but if it weren’t for the fact that he did get serum, he’d have been dead long ago.  As it is, the fact that he did makes him a political piece and valuable, so he can get away with a number of things.

Because I’m tired of the “Steve sucks at modern technology” trope.  He was picking up and using HYDRA tech that was powered by the tesseract in WWII. And user interfaces were pretty un-intuitive back then — knobs labeled in German or French, most likely.  And think about the number of dials and thingamabobs on an airplane control panel!  Yes, he’s a man out of time, but it’s probably the social stuff that’s much harder to adjust to.  (You can tell he’s recently-thawed because he still insists on wearing at least a button-down shirt and suspenders when out in public.)
