Really, Kaito would even apologize to someone if they’d tripped, and he’d been close enough nearby. Probably, anyways. Maybe he was a bit too polite at times, but he just wanted to be as much of a nice, generous person as he could possibly be. Such was the nature he’d developed over time. 

“Well, I could’ve been hanging onto the flyer a little tighter,” He admitted, before pausing and adding, “…though, the wind kind of came out of nowhere, so I guess it really couldn’t have been helped, huh.” Gratefully, he took the flyer from the other, briefly glancing over it again before a smile appeared on his features.

“Ah, thank you! Haha, there are quite a few of these around though,” The android mused, “so if it had just blown off, I think that might’ve been okay. It looks interesting though! The thing they’re talking about… Oh! Are you gonna go to it?! I mean, I’ve never been to a pool party before, so I don’t know anything about it, but– wait a second…” He then laughed sheepishly, one hand tugging at the scarf around his neck before the other extended out towards the stranger.

“Before I go asking a bunch of questions and uh… being kinda rude like I was… I should introduce myself! My name’s Kaito, it’s nice to meet you! And thank you for returning the flyer! Though–I’m still sorry about it thwacking you in the face…”

Seeing how talkative the young man was was actually a bit of a comfort. That meant he wouldn't be expected to say as much, and there wouldn't be any painfully awkward silences, right? But of course, that didn't mean he wouldn't have to respond at all.

"Pool party..." He didn't really know what those were either; he honestly hadn't paid too much attention to the lessons in the Garden, so if such a thing had been covered, he likely ignored the content of that lecture. "I've never been to one either--" he started quietly, but stopped as the other introduced himself.

He accepted the outstretched hand in a firm shake. "Hades Aidoneus." He sure had gotten used to that "last name," hadn't he..? "It's nice to meet you as well, but you really don't need to apologize. That kind of occurrence is nothing out of the ordinary for me..."

“The severity of the sentence should reflect the severity of the crime it punishes, but the perceived degree of severity and the ‘fair’ course of action will vary based on an individual’s morals and biases. Those close to the accused or of less strict morals may deem the action trivial and in no need of punishment, while those close to the victim or with a stronger sense of justice may view it as an unforgivable sin. The value one places on another’s life also affects their views. Regardless of the result, there will be those angered by the outcome. It would be impossible to find a solution that everyone agrees on; this is why impartial judges should be the ones to decide what actions to take, instead of leaving it to a scale based on popular vote. If the public must be involved in the decision, there should be a better way to handle things.

“Normally, the punishment brought about by an execution would not be death itself, but what may come after. A sentence handed down after death could last for eternity, which is why the idea of being put to death is often unsettling. In these circumstances, however... the punishment attached to execution would be the process of revival with memories of the process intact. Regardless of how kind the method of execution would be, the emotions surrounding the moment of death hold the potential to be incredibly traumatizing. Such a punishment should not be thrown around lightly, but could be quite an effective deterrent from future crime if used when necessary.”

Maybe he should actually bring some of this stuff up with the law office instead of musing out loud to no one in particular.

Interest was certainly piqued as he read over the flyer he’d found whilst wandering around a little earlier on. He’d never been to something like the event being described here, so he’d have to make sure to hop on over at some point. What were the dates, again? He went to look, and–oh. Oh, no. There goes the flyer, out of his grip from a sudden burst of wind. Geez.

It wouldn’t have been too much of a problem, however, if the flyer hadn’t gone a short distance and promptly planted itself right upon the face of an unsuspecting stranger. 

Thanks, wind. You’re a real pal.

“Ack–!” No time was wasted in running over to the other, a look mixed with both apology and concern now gracing Kaito’s face. “I’m sorry! The wind grabbed that out of my hand just now… Are you okay? Oh, man… Really, I’m very sorry!”

Long ago, the Lord of the Underworld had decided that he would accept whatever the grudge of the dead threw his way with as much grace as possibly. Unfortunately, having a piece of paper plastered to one’s face is something that can’t really be handled with any grace at all.

By the time Hades had pulled the page from where it had planted itself, he had been approached by who he could only assume had lost the wayward sheet-- wait, why was this stranger apologizing?

"It's not something that can be helped," he said with a small sigh. "It's not like you intended for this to happen, so there isn't anything you need to feel sorry about... but thank you for your concern."

With that said, he held the flyer out to the other man without a glance at its contents.

It was another lovely afternoon to be crawling through the bushes of the Sector 6 parks. Anghel had to practice maneuvering stealthily in both his human and bird forms, and being able to blend in with plant life was key. Naturally.

He paused mid-crouch at the sound of footsteps, crunching through the grass. A disturbance among the elements…

Who dares set foot in the depths of these Sacred Woods? Anghel nearly peeked out from behind a bush, but no, he mustn’t, lest his cover be blown. This outing was meant to test his skills! He could not betray that purpose. 

So he waited there, listening – wait. This bush… were these…

By the time the footsteps drew nearer, Anghel’s face was smeared with a certain red fruit juice. Spending the day training for a maxed-out stealth stat made a bird hungry. He perked up as the intrusion drew close, too close… he would have to act. The Dark Sorcerer’s minions could be approaching. Could they be seeking to harvest these Gold-Speckled Berries of the Bloody Sunset?!

Like any logical person might conclude, the only option was to leap out and aggressively tackle this stranger, face smeared red and eyes wild.

“Stay back, Fiend!”

“You shall not bring your Dark Plague to these Sacred Woods!”

Though he was more than accustomed to living underground, Hades found that the fresh air of the green sector was much more welcome than the odd atmosphere of district alpha. This change of preferences itself was strange; had his time staying above ground and in the garden affected him that much? That was a somewhat troubling thought, to say the least.

Once he had entered one of the parks, it didn't take long for the god to find something that caught his eye. Was that a strawberry patch nestled among those bushes? Though only a small blessing, it was quite a stroke of luck in his opinion... but would such a miniscule bit of happiness in comparison to the bad luck of being thrown into this city be enough to trigger the curse's retaliation?

The answer made itself clear as he approached the plants. Everything happened so fast that it took Hades a few seconds to actually process anything. One moment, he was lost in his thoughts, considering whether attempting to take one of the plants home would be allowable.The next, he was flat on his back, pinned to the ground by a rather angry-sounding and fearsome-looking young man. Good Gaia, was that blood?

"I-I beg your pardon?" he finally managed as the words hurled at him registered. Fiend? Dark Plague? It seemed highly unlikely, but did this person somehow know about the curse? "What are you talking about?"

Seamlessly, Loki swiveled his arm around with the rest of his body, pushing poor Uncle Death in the direction of the puddle. “Now jump!”

He probably should've expected Loki to react like that, but Hades was still caught off-guard. He stumbled a bit when shoved, but managed to retain his balance somehow. One foot did step in the puddle, however. Is that close enough to jumping?

"That was completely uncalled for."

Forsaken, Gloomy Curse ✿ Hades & Oichi

"Then the kitties are just silly." She huffed softly, mildly offended that the creatures couldn’t understand the difference between being threatened and playtime. "Ichi has mostly only seen scary dogs, so maybe she is judging them too harshly. Ichi is sure that Lord Frowny’s puppy is very nice."

In her world, there weren’t many dogs to be found- save wolves. Typically, one didn’t try to make nice with a wolf and so Oichi’s understanding of house dogs was slim, to say the least. But she figured that if some cats could be misjudged, then perhaps dogs could too. It was just hard to picture that vicious slobbery beasts could be as cute as kittens.

When she felt the soft fur push against her hand, Oichi smiled brightly. The kitten turned out to be even softer than she imagined, and she found herself stroking the little thing with more excitement than she’d felt in quite some time. “Look, the little kitten is letting Ichi pet him!” She could feel the gentle rumble of the kitten purring even as she scratched behind its ears. Honestly, there were so many little things in the city that were new and exciting that she hadn’t felt the urge to slaughter anyone since her arrival. Other than that one time, but that person was institutionalized, not dead so he didn’t count.

Thanks to the furry distraction, Oichi hadn’t been paying much attention to the kind tamer of cats and missed most of what he said. She’d caught something about owls and ill omens, so she assumed that the two were linked in context. “Where Ichi is from, owls are supposed to be good luck and bring good fortune, though she’s never seen one herself. Is Lord Frowny from very far away?”

"... Lord Frowny?" The rest of her comments seemed to have escaped him. He had to admit that was honestly a fitting nickname, but to just pull a name like that out of nowhere was something else... but that was also a nice reminder that he hadn't bothered to introduce himself. "My name is Hades Aidoneus." Adding the "surname" was still strange to him, especially since it was technically the same as his given name, but humans expected to hear two names when one introduced themself, right?

Seeing how the kitten had warmed up to the woman brought a small smile to the god's face. It was a relief that it seemed she hadn't been paying too much attention to his musings either.

"I would say most places are very far away from here... But I'm from Greece, on Earth." That was specific enough, right? There was no need to mention the exact nature of his home. "Not all owls are considered bad there, though. I have a niece who's fond of them in general because they're a symbol of intelligence. Only a certain kind of owl is associated with death."

"Sure there is!"

"It’s never too soon to get wet, Uncle Death." He slung an arm around Hades’ shoulders, laughing. "You try, you try! Jump in the puddle!"

Forsaken, Gloomy Curse ✿ Hades & Oichi

She supposed it would make sense for the kitten to have been a bit wary… however, Oichi didn’t think that was a good enough reason for it to have hidden behind someone else. The pout on her face might have wordlessly explained as much.

Her eyebrows raised slightly at the man’s next words. An actual toy? She supposed that would also make sense. Where was she supposed to find a toy for a cat though? “Ichi isn’t sure why cats wouldn’t like to play tag… and dogs can be scary. They’re very loud and sometimes too hyper. Ichi likes to play with cats more beccause they don’t play as long.” She shook her head when he tacked on that last bit. “It’s alright, Ichi knows that she causes more trouble than ease.” If the army briefly under her command were to be believed, she was something of the last hope for her clan. Yet she’d chosen to go off searching for her brother instead. If that wasn’t causing trouble, Oichi wasn’t sure what was.

A small pang of jealousy crept its way through Oichi as she noticed the little kitten seemed to be rather comfortable with the man. She had considered plucking him away from the kitty with her shadow hands, but he waved her over before she had the chance. Allowing the darkness given shape around her to dissipate into the ground, she carefully crept closer; crawling, despite the stranger’s reassurance that it wasn’t necessary. She reached out slowly as if the kitten were more tiger than stray and hoped that she’d at least get to rest her hand on its soft looking back.

"It is very sad, isn’t it?" She mused, undoubtedly speaking more to herself than anyone else. "Ichi likes black kittens because she knows it gets very lonely in the dark. The poor kitties didn’t do anything wrong to make people think badly of them… and even though they’re supposed to be bad omens, black kittens are still the prettiest of all to Ichi."

"Cats don’t like to be chased at all. They wouldn’t understand that you were only trying to play tag if you ran after one…" Somehow, the way this conversation was going was starting to remind Hades of talks he had had with Apollon. Maybe it was the young woman’s seemingly innocent curiosity… "I prefer dogs over cats, honestly, but I understand your concerns about them being hyper. I have a dog back home, in my world, and I don’t think he realizes he isn’t a puppy anymore."

To most, it would be strange to think of a large, three-headed monster that happened to resemble a dog as anything close to a puppy, but when Cerberus wasn’t fulfilling his duties as the guardian of the underworld, the beast was little more than a slobbery, overgrown lapdog. He signed softly. The last time he had seen his pet had been at the sports festival in the garden, and that seemed like an eternity ago.

He wasn’t sure what to make of her comment about causing “more trouble than ease.” So she -was- cursed in some way, then? He didn’t get a chance to ask, however, before she quiet literally crawled over to where he and the kitten were. Yes, she definitely reminded him of his favourite nephew.The kitten seemed to have forgiven her for her earlier offenses, or else forgotten about the chase at all. It arched its back to meet her hand and began to purr softly. Congratulations Oichi, you have befriended a cat.

"I supposed black cats are viewed the same way as screech owls are where I’m from. They’re seen as ill omens and messengers of death because of their association with me—" He stopped that train of conversation abruptly. He wasn’t fond of dropping the whole "I’m actually a god" thing on people, especially with the nature of what he ruled. Hopefully the woman was devoting most of her attention to the kitten and not listening to him…
