He wouldn’t have started a toy company, since that was never his dream. That was his younger twin’s dream, and he thought it was below their status. If he had become earl and found the estate in financial decline, he would have invested in railways and communications… infrastructure and technology.

What’s sad is even though he recognizes the genius of his younger twin’s enterprise, he doesn’t actually care about it. And now, the future of Funtom is unknown.

My hope is, since this has been left up to Tanaka’s discretion, that he will examine the sample toys himself and notify the factories to start production. That way, Funtom can continue… at least for a while.

Then again, I think the end is nigh approaching for both of the twins (like… Friday, December 13, 1889), so perhaps the end of Funtom isn’t the biggest deal? Sigh 😔 But I would really like for the business to be continued by someone else who appreciates the products and business model. Or at least someone with the right disposition to deal in toys, sweets, and ladies’ toiletries (perfume, etc.).

I wonder who would be a good candidate for taking over Funtom once the twins are gone?
