ive seen a handful of posts about phm fanbase more or less not engaging with the themes/implications of phm and instead taking the Generic Cis Hot Man and shipping him with Other Generic Cis Hot Man (in this context, simon from iron lung). and while i was intending to just let it slide bc its just fandom and a free country where u can do whatever, im realizing that i actually am annoyed when half the fanart is the equivalent of smacking 2 dolls together instead of exploring like. you know. ryland and rockys unlikely friendship that was able to transcend languages and societies and galaxies. or rylands development going from a coward scorned by higher education and a volcanic sacrifice offered up by world governments, to finding purpose and a reason to live and be braver in spite of it.

like IDK i selfishly want more people to engage with the story and all its underlying messages instead of doll smacking Please
