Return To College - Monday 13th September.

Hi all,

I look forward to seeing you all on Monday at 10.30am at the Musician’s entrance (your normal entrance from last year).

Next week I will be going through your new studio schedule, introducing you to your new work spaces, and taking you through your new project.   The finer details of your schedule are somewhat dependent on enrolment numbers but will be finalised before Monday, but be prepared to be on site for around 3 and a half days per week.  Your regular day off will be Fridays.

Review your tasks

Hi all, this is important, so read carefully.

Firstly, if you haven't changed your Wix password, as per the instructions I sent via WhatsApp on Friday, please do it now!

It has been decided that this should be the final week for the setting of fresh tasks for 2nd year learners.  Next week (commencing 25th May) is half term, and following half term any work you are asked to do will be on an individual basis if we feel there are minor aspects of your work that can be improved.  

After half term tutors will be asked to provide ‘estimated’ final grade achievements to UAL, and we will be providing evidence to support our judgements.   Obviously final grade achievements are FAIL, PASS, MERIT, and DISTINCTION.  

As such I am allowing you to spend this week reviewing and improving the quantity and quality of evidence you have provided in the last 6 weeks.  The 6 task are linked below;

Task 6 & UAL Update

On Friday UAL made the following announcement

We can therefore expect to know this week (with more details next week) exactly how they intend to assess the final grade for your Extended Diploma.  

I will, of course, let you know as soon as I have any further information.   Once we know the details I can ensure the work you are doing on a weekly basis is specifically designed in order that you can all achieve the best grade possible.

In the meantime, this week’s task is to experiment with one of the “free resources and tools for musicians” listed below and to post an evaluation of what the resource enabled you to do and how you could incorporate it into a production project.  This should be posted onto your Primary research page and should include audio you have created.  Please hit me up on Whatsapp if you have any questions!

Hiya, for this week’s task I would like you to produce a piece of creative work being as inventive as you can.

This could be any of the following;

A track recorded on Logic

A piece made using an app - try ‘acapella’ or others

A track using music production ‘freeware’ such as -

You could even write and supply some lyrics?

The main focus this week is to do something creative, something that maybe relates to the current situation in some way.  

It would be amazing if you could collaborate but even anything you do on your own would be great.

Remote Task 4 - My Home Studio

Ok, so some of you will have home recording/production set ups, and some of you won’t.

For those that do; 

I’d like you to explain what you have (include pictures).  

What are you able to do? What are you unable to do?  

What is the biggest issue you have recording at home.  What equipment would you like to buy in the future?

For those that don’t;

Identify what you would need to buy? (include images)

Price up the total cost?

What would be the order in which you buy these items in order to grow your studio over time?

Your work should be entitled “My Home Studio” and should be posted on your Primary Research page by next Thursday 30th April.
