paintmaid:
too kind, too empathetic for her own good; she watched as the cat (not her own, but all too close) dissolved and her heart ached at the apparent sadness in the child’s voice. certainly, it had been an amazing feat, yet her own sense of rationality, and an ever present sense of curiosity, kept her from accepting it as it was. though she saw it with her own eyes, she could not bring herself to trust it. hands twisting in the fabric of her dress, she gave a soft shake of her head.
“oh, it was wonderful. she looked exactly like my dear princess and i have never seen something quite like that! however…”
how best to put it? to explain that rock in her stomach, that strange, anxious feeling she’d had the closer she got to the child and the animal it had summoned. her gaze shifted, searching for the right words – ones that would keep from upsetting it too much.
“that was… …magic like i had never seen, nor had i ever heard of. i wanted to understand how such a thing could be possible.”
she bit her lip, now. it could do anything it wanted; limitless possibilities. though she knew the answer in some way (and fear rose in her chest again, threatening to consume her), she could not help herself but to ask.
“are you…” she swallowed. “a deity?”
All manner of ‘sadness’ was lost the instance she spoke the forbidden word.
So, it was all coming together. The itty-bitty princess learning that the child before her was in fact, no mere child - a creature of incredible power, a beast that could swallow a world, the literal embodiment of the end-times, standing directly before her, straight-backed, with a crooked nook in its head, hands held behind its back to impose a rather formal, perhaps jester-like posture.
Yes, there is absolutely no doubt that Majora’s power is unlike any other. The ability to change the very fabric of reality, to warp it into an amalgamation of its own creation, a horrible abomination compared to the living, physical world... and yet, this poor, itty-bitty princess has seen nothing. The cat? Nothing. It was a mere party trick, an act done solely to gauge a reaction. No - it was possible of more. SO, MUCH, MORE.

The question was repeated once before the masked creature bellowed out a laugh that could scare off a fearsome tiger. The thought of being compared to a deity - A MERE GOD - made the child HOLLER with amusement.
