i seriously don't mean this ask to be hate!!! my question is: do you think Touka has a more romantical attitude towards Kaneki than Hide? do you think Touka has done more for Kankei than Hide (romatically or not)? i don't want this ask to be a coparison or a competition i'm just honestly curious about other opinions. Why do you think Touka deserves Kaneki romantically wise more than Hide (assuming the fact that Ishida will probably never give us a poly relationship).

That’s ok, I won’t take it that way! 

Love isn’t a tally of how much you’ve done for someone. There’s not a quota to fill before you’re entitled to someone else. Love is about making a connection

And frankly, I find the idea that Touka- the girl who has saved Kaneki’s ass so many times, risked her life to infiltrate Aogiri during a full scale CCG raid to save him, made :re as a place for home for him to return to, spent years waiting for him to return with little more than her faith in him, was willing to let him forget her forever and give up a chance at a life with him for his own happiness, and is now working together with everyone to save him again- hasn’t done enough to be with Kaneki is ridiculous. But that’s besides the point. 

No one is entitled to the love of another person. That includes characters.

I honestly despise the competition the fandom has created between Touka and Hide for Kaneki’s affections. Because the truth is, Kaneki needs both.

This is going on a bit of a tangent but I think it’s important to mention. Even with Hide by his side all those years, Kaneki was still lonely

Humans are social creatures and thrive on being a part of a community. Having one single person you can rely on isn’t enough and Hide can’t bear the burden of being Kaneki’s sole family by himself.

But even so, without Hide, thinking that he had murdered his best friend in the world and the person who was there for him throughout his awful childhood, Kaneki was still lonely too

He kept pushing away and distancing himself from all the people who were there for him in his grief over remembering what he did to Hide and Arima’s death. Until Touka broke through those walls he’d erected (pun intended) around himself and closed the distance between them.

Kaneki getting together with Touka didn’t magically erase his grief over Hide, or anyone else for that matter

But it gave him a light at the end of the tunnel, a spark of happiness to look forward to instead of facing death.

Now that Hide is confirmed alive, I hope they both get to the chance to live on together with Kaneki because they love Kaneki and Kaneki loves them, not because they deserve him.
