for the first time, my eczema's spread to my face and neck hardcore within these past few days. i was wondering if you've ever experienced herpetic eczema that resembles weeping/crusty pimples all over your face like the tough exterior of an iguana? and what did you do about it? thank you!

hey =) Well I did experience eczema spreading to my face and neck before but when I first started eczema on my face it was like small itchy bumps around my cheeks and overtime my face got really dry & rashes began to appear. What I did was go to a dermatologist and she prescribed me allergy medicine to calm down my eczema as well as a medicine that prevented me from itching. I think it’s best to see a dermatologist just to be sure! For now, keep your skin moisturized in other areas! Sorry that I wasn’t able to help you out, but I hope the eczema disappears soon!

Hello Im 15 and i recently been told i have atopic dermatitis. I am so sick of people asking about whats wrong with my skin or just looking at it and saying "ew" any adivce on how to respond to them?

Hi there! =) Well, when people ask you about your skin just tell them you have a skin condition called “eczema” and try your best to educate them about it. In the past whenever people asked me about my skin, I knew that their first question was whether it was contaigous or not so I made sure to let them know that it’s not! Seeing the rashes on your body is not the best feeling but when you know how to manage it and take care of it, it’s just going to be part of your skin routine. I got tired of people asking me about my skin too, and over time I just didn’t even want to answer them anymore, but just tell them you have eczema & try your best to explain it to them. Once a person has understanding of something, they tend to have a new perception of the situation.

For my skin I use cetaphil (when I get out of the shower or when my skin just feels dry), and I also use coconut oil. When it comes to Vaseline, I like to put a moisturizer on first and add a coat of Vaseline.

omgomg yes me too! I apply vaseline to my eyebrows first and the mix vaseline with my aveeno moisturizer and then apply the rest to my face.

When I was a kid the doctors told me I had mild eczema. But, when other people ask me why I scratch or why my skin looks funny with all the bumps and I tell them it's eczema they just laugh at me and tell me I'm making it up or I don't have it bad enough to say I have it. Should I not say I have it? It is okay that I do?

HEYY =) IT’S TOTALLY FINE IF YOU SAY YOU HAVE ECZEMA OR NOT. It’s all about whether you are comfortable or not. If you are comfortable with telling others you have eczema, DO IT! When I was in middle school, I was scared to tell people I had eczema because I didn’t want others to feel pity, but now I just announce it loud and proud to people that I have eczema! NO SHAME. If they laugh at you and judge you for it then that means they don’t know anything about eczema and you should educate them =) If you want to tell people you have eczema, what the heck, go for it! It’s like having another fun fact about yourself! =)

Hot weather

Its been super hot lately and it sucks ! I would love to wear dresses and shorts but due to my eczema I really can’t handle the hot weather. I turn super red and my skin becomes annoying. I also can’t tan my vitiligo on my arms either. The struggle is real. -.- So, when’s winter coming :D

right, idk if it’s just me but my skin gets really itchy during the hotter weathers probably due to sweat but I don’t really sweat.

Part 2) Im really insecure about my legs to the poiny where I'm afraid to wear Capri pants because the patches are so dark and noticable.

AW! ITS OKAY! I honestly feel like people wouldn’t have time to focus on our legs. I’m pretty insecure about my legs too, the back of my legs are full of eczema scars that look like bruises. People assume I’m clumsy or that I get abused. I also have a few eczema rashes but on hot days I still wear shorts because its okay! People honestly don’t focus on peoples legs, probably a glance and thats it. We shouldn’t stop ourselves from wearing clothing we want because of our eczema. I just want you to know that if you want to wear your Capri pants, Just wear it! It’s absolutely okay! From my experience people honestly don’t focus much on people’s legs unless they have a leg fetish haha. We are all constantly moving our legs all the time on the streets so theres no way for someone to see our eczema scars just with one glance. If you want to wear your Capri pants, wear it! DON’T LET ANYONE OR ANYTHING STOP YOU. =)

Part 1) Hello! So I have eczema on my legs (back of knee and calf area). Parts are black, scaly patches while others are just scars. Is their anything I use to get rid of the scars AND help with the patches.

HEY =) Late response but I know what you mean! Some of my scars look like bruises like I don’t understand.. I don’t really use anything to get rid of my scars, I kinda just wait for the scar to lighten up over time! However whenever I have a rash I must apply ointment quickly so it’ll heal faster so the scar would be lighter. I do know that lemon juice lighten up scars and cleansing it with oatmeal will lighten and moisturizes it as well! Sorry that I didn’t help you as much!

I do like the neutrogena face wash I use but I think I liked it mostly because of the fresh feeling post face washing routine! It allows you to experience a really refreshing and invigorating sensation every time you use that product (think like minty, cool) it's nice since it helps me wake up! c: the only problem I see arising is that it's too much of a sensation for your skin which is why I don't use it every single day, but if you're willing to try it once, I recommend it! Hope this helps!

Shoutout to my fellow people with eczema

Because I know how much it sucks having - People constantly ask you “what’s wrong with your skin?” or “what’s wrong with your legs?” or any other part of you - Having constant itching or even stinging or burning because of it - If you’re like me and have really sensitive skin, you’ve tried a million things and only a hardcore steroid cream works but even that only helps sometimes - People freak out because they think you’re eczema’s contagious - Dry skin because of it, but not being able to use moisturizers because it makes the eczema worse - Feeling like you can’t show your skin because it doesn’t look good

BUT GUESS WHAT! Our eczema doesn’t define us and we can wear shorts if we want to, wear that short sleeve shirt when it’s warm out! And even though we may be self conscious about it, remember, we are beautiful no matter what. And anyone that says otherwise is someone you don’t wanna be hanging around anyway. No matter how bad the itching and burning and stinging gets, you’ll be okay.

Everyone’s skin is different, but here’s some stuff that helps me personally, so maybe it’ll help you: - Take shorter and colder showers– I don’t mean COLD, but when the water is too hot it makes my eczema flare up really bad - Stay away from over-chlorinated pools or hot tubs– that can make it flare up as well, so be careful - Go to the dermatologist! I went to a regular doctor and the stuff they wanted me to do didn’t help me, but when I went to an actual dermatologist, she prescribed a steroid cream that’s one of the only things that helps me (but be careful! you can only use those a limited amount of times per day) - Find a moisturizer you can use, and use it constantly (I have crazy sensitive skin, and the one I use is is the toleriane line by la roche-posay, I got it from CVS. it can be a little pricey, but it’s worth it to actually be able to use moisturizer) - Whatever you do, DON’T SCRATCH IT. I know how much you want to and how satisfying it is, but don’t. It’ll make it so much worse. The less you scratch it, the more it can try to heal (especially if you have open patches) it’s really really hard not to, and I mess up all the time, but your body will thank you - A lot of eczema is stress related! Find a way to relieve stress in your life, and in the long run you’re less likely to have flare ups

hi girlfriend c: i don't know how to reply to your post asking about everyone's eczema skincare routine so here ya go! Face wash: aveeno positively radiant / neutrogena deep cleansing face wash. Eczema creams: tiny amounts of elidel on my face and locoid cream everywhere else! moisturizers: I like to use neutrogena sensitive skin face lotion or aveeno eczema products as a back up. body lotion: regular/eczema series/baby series aveeno products // cera ve renewing SA lotion !

HEYYY =) How do you like the Neutrogena deep cleaning face wash? I feel like Neutrogena products are too harsh for me but I’ll be totally willing to try it if it’s good :D Thanks for answering my question and sharing your skincare routine !

HEYY =) Welcome to my blog! OOOO! You have such a healthy diet ^_^ ! LOVE IT! Due to my dry skin, I don’t really get pimples. However when I do, it’s not those tiny pimples but those giant ones that goes away in weeks. As weird as this might sound, I put this Asian pain relieving aromatic oil [Kwan Loong Oil] on my pimples to get rid of them. It kinda gives a minty feeling to my pimples and for some reasons it works... I honestly don’t know if i’ll recommend that but that’s what I have been using since I was six for my pimples. To get rid of blackheads and pores I use the Biore Deep Cleansing Pore Strips once a week and it actually does its job! Also the Cetaphil Gentle Skin cleanser is really good! It’s VERY GENTLE, feels like water to be exact & it’s for all skin types :D
