Spirogyra Circus 🎪
The centuries-old Spirogyra Circus is known for its incredible performers and hair-raising acts, enchanting people from all over the world. Despite all this excellence, rumors persist: it is said that, after seeing the show, some people simply never return home.
Within the heavy tent that isolates the Circus from the outside world, performers live in a separate reality. Created and maintained by an entity called Spirogyra, the place functions as a prison for those chosen by it. The entity traps them there, forcing them into roles within the show. They can’t leave, they can’t die. Time spirals endlessly. Nothing feels real, or even tangible. Who could say how long they’ve been there? Or who they are beyond their assigned role? In fact… Do they ever stop performing?
These are unanswered questions. And even if answers existed, would they matter? In the end, the only thing that matters is pleasing Spirogyra. And they do. They please the entity when they perform, when they surrender to the Circus, when they feel the visceral agony of being trapped in twisted spirals that eat them alive from the inside.
Whispers spread within the Circus itself. The Central Lagoon, overrun with algae, is considered by many to be a cemetery. Indeed, no one can die in Spirogyra Circus, yet some performers mysteriously vanish when they fail to fulfill their assigned role. They say that when the entity loses interest in someone, it drags them to the bottom of the lagoon, erasing every trace they ever existed. The only things that remain are the vivid memories of those who knew them, and the fear of speaking too openly about them and displeasing the entity.
It's common knowledge that the walls have ears, and nothing escapes Spirogyra’s gaze. When the noises of the day’s performances fade and dawn arrives with its suffocating silence, they swear they can hear the Circus pulsing like a living organism, and the sound of algae crawling everywhere.
No one dares confront Spirogyra or its desires. There is no escape. All that remains is to embrace this distorted existence.
