Translation of the first impressions from Season 1 Volume 7 of the novels (just to give a timeline for some of the answers like Ioris). Sorry the image quality is not good, the image is yellow which is so hard to scan and I dont have a proper scanner.
Maho-chan: What was everyones first impressions of Hina? And how do you see her now??
Masaomi:
First impression: I thought “I’m really going to have a little sister” and I felt a little moved
Now: I hope she can always keep smiling, because her smile can make everyone happy
Ukyou:
First impression: …..I was so surprised. But for the reason I have no comment.
Now: Im very worried that she’s too concerned about others feelings. I think she should have more of her own ideas, learn how to refuse and express her own opinions clearly.
Kaname:
First impression: I used an embrace as the first greeting, her surprised expression at the time was really cute, so I accidentally kissed her her hand (haha)
Now: In the end whoever she chooses will be ok, I just wish for her to be happy.
Hikaru:
First impression: She looks so much like Reiko~ (Haha)
Now: I hope she can keep playing with my brothers in the future.
Tsubaki:
First impression: Being able to have a little sister made me extremely happy~
Now: Even though she is still my precious little sister….but, the feeling is already more than this.
Azusa:
First impression: At first Tsubaki so extremely excited, I only hoped that she wouldn’t be scared because of this.
Now: I want to properly treasure her, protect her…she’s the person who makes me think these things. …ah, this is bad, Im feeling a bit embarrassed.
Natsume:
First impression: I first met her at mother’s wedding ceremony. At the time I think I thought ‘Why does she keep staring at me?’
Now: I don’t plan on letting anyone else have her. That’s how it is.
Louis:
First impression: Although her hair is prone to easily getting fluffy (frizzy) and dry, the hair quality is fairly good.
Now: Chii-chan is a hardworking child. But, in front of me she doesn’t need to try so hard. I hope she can relax.
Subaru:
First impression: I totally couldn’t get used to living with a woman in the house…
Now: I hope she can stay by my side. I will work hard to become a man who is worthy of her.
Iori:
First impression: Coming to such a noisy household, she might have a hard time.
Now: Right now…maybe I don’t have the right to meet her. But maybe someday——— no, nothing.
Yuusuke:
First impression: Oh….uh, that….no…no special feelings towards her!
Now: That…you already know!! I definitely won’t give up!
Fuuto:
First impression: Stupid woman.
Now: Unexpectedly she’s a devilish woman. But, if she wasn’t she wouldn’t be worthy of being my woman.
Wataru:
First impression: She looked like a kind onee-chan!
Now: She’s my very favourite onee-chan!!
Juri:
First impression: Chii-chan has been cute since a long time ago! She’s been cute since the first time we met!
Now: Chii-chan is still cute! But, those pest-like brothers by Chii-chan’s side are an eyesore!
Here’s a quick summary and review/rant about Natsume’s route in Brocon Brilliant Blue:
Character: Asahina Natsume
Age: 24 (25 in the 2nd half of the game; it spans over a year)
CV: Maeno Tomoaki
Family position: 7th son, youngest of the triplets
As usual, the game starts on May 22nd, and Ema meets her sexy new brothers. She first bumps (literally) into Wataru and Masaomi while looking for Sunrise Residence, because Wataru is riding his little kiddy bike and crashes into her. Masaomi checks her out examines her for any injuries, and tells her to go to the hospital if her knee continues to hurt. She also sees Iori being asked out by two girls, and the latter squeal about how perfect Iori is, etc.
Anyway, Ema and Juli finally find themselves in the Asahina household, where they are re-introduced to Masaomi, Wataru and Iori. Other brothers that are introduced are Mama Ukyou, Subaru, Kaname, Tsubaki, Azusa, and Yuusuke. Juli then teaches you how to use the scheduling system in the game, etc.
Okay, from here on out Ema (aka you) spends every day talking with the family, working part-time, and playing video games. After a few weeks, Fuuto is introduced (It is now June). During this time, I had to avoid getting on any of the brothers’ good sides by not spending any personal time with them and not buying them presents on their birthdays.
So basically, I continue to fill Ema’s schedule with the repetitive part-timing, video gaming, and family bonding for the next few months (this is the most painful part about playing Natsume’s route I nearly broke down in tears out of boredom). There’s a family vacation somewhere in between, but you have to avoid building your relationship with any of the brothers so it’s totally unexciting.
Now fast forward to the future - it’s 29 October. You stumble upon the twins rehearsing their scripts for work, when they invite you over to the couch to chat. You realise that the script is for the next installment of a game series you’re really into, so the twins discover your love for games, and comment that you’ll really get along with “him”. Ema’s like who is this mysterious dude and the twins are like nah not gonna tell ya you’ll find out eventually so Ema’s like k who cares and returns to her room.
A few days later (in November), the whole family (minus Hikaru) is assembled for Rintarou and Miwa’s wedding. There, Ema meets Natsume for the first time who is all tsun towards her at first, then later apologises for his rude behaviour (under the influence of good guy Azusa).
On 13 November, Ema goes over to Rintarou’s to sort out the photos from the wedding, where she stumbles upon a box of old stuff. She realises that there are photos of her deceased mom and her, with some other man that is not Rintarou. Ema digs deeper and realises that Rintarou doesn’t seem to be her real father *gasp lololol* and she gets pissed at poor Rintarou (who tries to explain, really). Ema runs out of the house before he has a chance to explain, and goes to the park to cry alone. There, Natsume finds her, and tries to convince her to come home. He tries his best to comfort her, and tells her that she is family, and that she’ll always have a place to return to, etc. Ema finally opens up to him and follows him back to the mansion, where she reconciles with Rintarou.
Following this event are some smaller events like bumping into Natsume after part-time work, meeting Natsume on Christmas Eve, Christmas with the family, New Year’s, and Natsume’s birthday (which is also on January 1st). Throughout this, you get to go on dates with Natsume and he starts to get more dere dere with you 〜( ̄▽ ̄〜) Oh, and just before Christmas Eve Hikaru is introduced. Not that it matters in this route anyway.
One day, you decide to go shopping with the twins, and realise that Natsume is going along too (yay). In the crowded shopping area, you get robbed and Natsume chases after the punk at the speed of light, and Ema is in awe of Natsume’s speed. She also starts to wonder why Natsume can run so fast, complimenting him saying that he looked really cool while retrieving her purse and Natsume gets all shy (●´∀`●)
Valentines’ Day is around the corner, and Ema makes Natsume some oishii handmade chocolate. Nothing much here (I was so expecting more psshhh).
on 21 February, Natsume invite Ema out for a date (finally he decides to invite me, I’m always inviting him tsk), but it all goes wrong when you just had to trip on the stairs at the train station. But yabai, Natsume breaks your fall and takes the hit instead. He injures his leg and you freak out and call Masaomi.
Kind and dependable Masaomi examines Natsume while at work, and thankfully it isn’t too serious an injury — except that Natsume has to rest at home in order to heal. You feel bad and beg for his forgiveness but kind and adorable Natsume says “It’s fine, but if you really want to help me you can cook something delicious for me,” OH NATSU, YOU DEVIL (*´▽`*)so sneaky uhuhu.
This is where it starts getting interesting. You start going over to Natsume’s place to cook for him and spend time with him, and somewhere in between you get the cheek to tell him “まだ帰りたくない~” (I don’t want to go home yet). Girl, if it were me I’d have said that the first time I went over to his place. Anyway Natsume gets all blushy about it and after some persuasion (no, just kidding, you actually have to win a bloody mini-game), he lets you stay over for the night.
Over the next few weeks you keep inventing totally unconvincing reasons to stay over each time you visit him (yay, mini-game every Sunday…) and you guys get really close. And since Natsume lives alone, he only has one bed, which means you guys share every time you stay over (*°∀°)=3 Naturally, good guy Natsume can’t help himself after a while, and tries to icha icha with Ema (though he is cockblocked by his stupid cats).
On February 14, White Day, Natsume returns you candy for your homemade chocolate. He “blames” you for making him wait, hence he’s hungry, so you guys go out to grab a bite (Oooh, tsun tsun Natsu). When you return, Juli tells you that he saw Natsume waiting at the door of the mansion for you for about an hour (●´∀`)ノ♡ So DERE!
On 20 March, Ema and Natsume go out for a date after a long while. Due to Ema’s impertinent curiousity, Natsume starts telling her about his past, such as the reason he can run very quickly. He tells Ema about how he used to be in track (and was quite good at it, too), but quit eventually in order to pursue a regular salaryman job, which is precisely why sports-crazed Subaru hates him now. Ema then encourages him to pick it back up, not as a job, but purely as something he loves doing, and Natsume says agrees to start training again after he fully recovers.
Eventually, Natsume recovers and starts training again with the help of Ema and the twins. He also reconciles with Subaru, after the latter sees Natsume’s determination to run again etc etc. *Cue touching yet awkward bro-reconcilation*
Later, Natsume tells Ema that he is thinking of moving back to the mansion to live with the rest. Of course, Ema is thrilled, and Natsume takes the chance to (finally) confess his love for Ema, saying that he needs her by his side because she provides him with such incredible strength. Ema (and I) is touched by his confession, and tells him she loves him too. (´ω`♡%)
In the memory epilogue, Natsume is back in the mansion with all the other brothers and Ema. He strikes a deal with Azusa in order to swap rooms with Azusa. This is because Azusa’s room is the room that is right next to Ema’s. He convinces Ema to let him knock down the wall separating their rooms, so that they can live happily together in one big room…
And of course, do icha icha things together without being disturbed by the other brothers! (づ ̄ ³ ̄)づ
My thoughts:
If you aren’t a Natsume lover, I don’t suggest taking the time to play through this route. It took me 3-4 tries to get all his CGs, and the portion before Natsume is grueling to play (even with the skip function). I was beginning to think I might be ドM for Natsume (;*´Д`)ノ His story was also relatively predictable, and it was hardly thrilling enough to say the ending was satisfying. When I finally finished his route, I was actually relieved… but because I’m a die-hard Natsume fan, I’ll just be glad with my achievent. I left out quite a few details in this review, so that you guys can still enjoy it when you play it for yourself!

Natsume’s route walkthrough (In Japanese, I will translate this in my free time): http://www34.atwiki.jp/brothersconflict/pages/41.html
Please play the games legally. Support the series!
//update: I’ve completed the translation for the Natsume walkthrough, which can be found here. Enjoy!
Please note that whenever I’m reading Japanese, my English suffers greatly. I decided to make a review of Iori’s route, but I ended up including a summary. This also doesn’t cover every detail of his route. Only giving a brief idea of what’s happening
This is thanks to emasume and makotonae-gay who helped me finish this guy’s route. Hope this review/summary helps everyone who wants to try his route out. :)
Fever, dizziness, spinning around, Chapter #004-1 - Book 1, Season 1
MASTERLIST
EL RESUMEN EN ESPAÑOL ESTA ANTES DEL CORTE
I finally finished translating the chapters from book 1! It's a significant feat, given that it took me more than 2 months to do the 3 of them lol
Nevertheless, I'm now going to work on book 2. This one has been entirely unavailable online for at least 7 years since one of the members of the original team (I'm going to call them team because, for me, they were the dream team for bringing Brocon the novel to a broader audience and I love them for that <3) deleted her Tumblr account, or it was deleted idk. This project will take me a lot more time, so don't expect it for at least another month.
So, about this chapter. Starring by Masaomi and Wataru!
I want to explain it beforehand so I don't have to do it in the middle of the chapter; this story develops around the word "aegu" (あえぐ/喘ぐ). In English, it means to gasp, but in Japanese, it has a connotation closer to "to moan" than "to gasp."...
It's another of Tsubaki's pranks on his brothers, on Wataru specifically. Masaomi had told Wataru that to recover from a cold, he had to 1rst; to warm up (あったまる; attamaru), 2nd; to nourish (えいよう/栄養; eiyou), and 3rd; to sleep soundly (ぐっすり眠る; gussuri nemuru). Baby Wataru commented on this with Tsubaki, and he told him that the word can be shortened to "aegu,"... which is a word that's kind of weird to hear from a boy as innocent as Wataru.
I want to explain 2 terms:
のそり (nosori) (Adverb) (Often used with "to" 「と」) A word used to describe a slow, incoherent movement or a blunt manner. This is how Masaomi's body is described as moving because he is tired from his night shift; I translated it as "moving slowly." For lack of a better term.
Yajirobee (ヤジロベエ) is a Japanese term obvsly that refers to a specific traditional toy. It has a human shape with a tapered torso and is balanced by weights attached to the ends of its arms. It is also called a balancing toy in English.
Here is my summary in Spanish. The story will be below, as always.
The story is bellow
The end of summer vacation was in sight; it was mid-August.
I sat on my bed and stared blankly at the slightly orange sky outside the window.
The thermometer tucked under my arm beeps. 37.2 degrees.
Juli: "You have a fever."
Juli said worriedly, peering into the thermometer.
"It's just a slight fever. It's nothing serious."
Although I said that, I had been feeling a bit fatigued ever since I returned from our trip at the end of last month.
A lot has happened in these past three months, so I guess I was just feeling tired.
—— Speaking of "a lot," there was that incident on our trip... That night when Kaname-san kissed me on the beach, under a starry sky——.
It was so sudden that I didn't know what to do...
Next thing I knew, I'd left Juli behind and ran away at full speed.
Since then, it has been difficult for me to see Kaname-san face to face. Or rather, I can't look him in the eye.
(I don't know what to do...)
Luckily, Kaname-san was busy with memorial services and was often away from home.
Deep down, I’m relieved...
As I was thinking about this, my cheeks started to heat up. Hmm... Maybe I should take some medicine?
With that in mind, I asked Julie to stay in my room and headed to the living room on the 5th floor, where the medicine box was.
As I searched for an antipyretic in a corner of the large living room, I heard the door click open.
Wataru: "Ha, that was fun!!"
Wataru-chan came into the room holding pool equipment. When he saw me, cheerfully called out.
Wataru: "Onee-chan, I'm home!"
"Did you go to the pool?"
Wataru: "Yeah! I'm not good at swimming, so I practiced with my friends!"
Come to think of it, during our trip, Masaomi-san said that he couldn't swim.
It's great that Wataru-chan is practicing properly.
Wataru: "The water just came rushing in like this, and I was like, 'Oh no!' and then it started swirling around..."
Wataru-chan uses his whole body to show what it's like in the pool. His movements were so cute.
Wataru: "Oh? By the way, onee-chan, what were you doing?"
"I'm… feeling a bit feverish, so I was looking for some medicine."
Wataru: "What?! Are you okay...?"
Wataru-chan looked at me worriedly.
Then he seemed to have thought of something, and said,
Wataru: "That's it! I'll fix it for you!"
Wataru: "You know, if you get sick you have to 'あえぐ *'!"
あ え ぐ...!? (A e gu…?!)
I was stunned when such unexpected words came out of Wataru-chan's mouth. Where did he learn such words...?
To begin with, what does it mean to "gasp" when you're sick?
While I was full of questions, Wataru-chan said,
Wataru: "First, let's do “A”, warm up (あったまる; attamaru)! Wait a minute!"
And with that, he cheerfully left the living room.
(I wonder what's going on, Wataru-chan...)
I sat on the sofa and waited for Wataru-chan to come back.
Suddenly, a large futon slowly came into the living room...!
(What? The futon is moving on its own...?!)
But looking closely, I can see a pair of tiny feet peeking out from under the futon.
Wataru: "Nnsh... Nnsh..."
Wataru-chan brought me a futon that was bigger than my body.
Wataru: "Phew... Onee-chan, use this to warm yourself up!"
With an innocent look on his face, Wataru-chan hands me the futon.
"…t-Thank you."
Since he brought it for me, I decided to wrap myself up in the futon. However,...
(Um, this isn't warm, it's really hot, you know?)
While I was a little confused, Wataru-chan was very excited.
Wataru: "Now the 'a' of warmth is perfect! Next is... the 'e' of nutrition (えいよう/栄養; eiyou)!"
Wataru-chan headed to the kitchen and searched through the fridge and cupboards.
(Could it be that he is going to cook?)
However, Wataru-chan came over with his arms full of all kinds of ingredients.
He lines them out on the low table in the living room and hands them to me, one by one.
Wataru: "Let's try these. First up... a banana!"
Bananas are certainly very nutritious.
Wataru: "And... mayonnaise!"
I... might find it hard to eat as it is.
Wataru: "And... meat!"
I can't eat raw meat...!?
Wataru: "And... ice cream!"
Oh, maybe I'd like some.
(Even so...)
I felt a little uneasy when I saw the food taken out.
(I think Ukyo-san will get angry about this later...)
As I was worrying, I suddenly looked over at Wataru-chan, who was staring intently at the ice cream.
"Wataru-chan, do you want some ice cream?"
Wataru-chan was taken aback by my question...
Wataru: "This is for onee-chan. I can endure it!"
However, his gaze immediately turns to the ice cream.
Wataru: "I can endure it..."
Wataru-chan muttered softly as he gazed at the ice cream with teary eyes.
(He's so cute!)
I couldn't help but smile at Wataru-chan's cuteness.
"Well then, let's eat together!"
Wataru: "Eh? Is that really okay!?"
Wataru-chan's eyes go from watery to sparkling.
"Wataru-chan, this is a reward for working hard for me."
Wataru-chan then said cheerfully, "Thanks!!" and hugged me.
I'm sorry, Ukyo-san...
Just as we happily shared the ice cream and put it in our stomachs ──.
Wataru: "Ah! I forgot 'gu'!!"
Wataru-chan cried out as he remembered it.
Wataru: "A e gu’s 'gu'! We must hurry up and do 'gu'!!"
What does the final "gu" mean?
However, it seems that even Wataru-chan himself has forgotten the answer.
Wataru: "Hmm... but what is "gu" again? Gu... gu..."
After some thought, Wataru-chan came up with the answer...
Wataru: "Spinning (ぐるぐる; guruguru)! Was it...?"
W-what on earth...?
Wataru: "I'm sure if you spin around, you'll feel better!"
Wataru-chan took my hand and helped me to stand, then suddenly started spinning around.
(This's definitely wrong...!!)
That's what I thought, but my head was fuzzy from the fever and the futon, so I just let it happen.
Wataru-chan and I single-mindedly spun around in the living room.
And then...
Masaomi: "...You seem to be having some fun."
"Huh?!"
Masaomi-san came into the living room, moving slowly *.
He was on the night shift last night, so it seems he just woke up now.
Masaomi: "Is this some kind of dance?"
"N-no. Wataru-chan said that when he is sick, this is what makes him feel better..."
As I stammered and made excuses, I realized I had been doing something strange. It was embarrassing...
Meanwhile, a dizzy Wataru-chan was staggering towards Masaomi-san.
Wataru: "Ma-Maakun...?"
Masaomi: "Wataru, are you okay?"
Masaomi-san holds Wataru-chan, who is wobbly like a yajirobee*, firmly in his grasp.
Wataru: "Ah, well, the 'gu' in 'a e gu' is 'guruguru'... right?"
Masaomi: "Aegu?!"
Masaomi-san seemed quite surprised by Wataru-chan's statement.
Wataru: " Maakun taught me how to heal quickly when I get sick, right? To warm up, nutrition..."
Masaomi: "Oh, that's what you do when you catch a cold. The only thing left to do is to ‘sleep soundly’ (ぐっすり眠る; gussuri nemuru)..."
Wataru: "Huh? Is that so?"
I knew it; it was wrong after all...
I feel a little weak.
Masaomi: "More importantly, about a… aegu, who told you about it, Wataru?"
Wataru: "Well… the other day, when I had a cold, I told everyone about it. Then Tsukkun said it was shortened to 'aegu'..."
Ah... so the culprit was Tsubaki-san.
When Masaomi-san heard that, his eyes lit up, and he quietly muttered.
Masaomi: "...Tsubaki...!"
Masaomi-san is a different person when it comes to Ya-chan... It was the same during the trip.
Nevertheless, I was already feeling feverish, but it seemed to have gotten worse as I spun around...
Then, Masaomi-san noticed something was wrong with me and called out to me.
Masaomi: "You don't look well. Are you ok?"
"Ah, no! I just have a slight fever. Don't worry about it."
However, Masaomi-san looked worried and said, "Sorry, just a minute." as he gently lifted my bangs.
Then he pressed our foreheads together──.
(! Masaomi-san's face is right in front of m-me...)
Being so close makes me nervous. We're so close we can almost feel each other's breath.
Whether I like it or not──
Masaomi-san's face comes into view.
His eyes were slightly downcast and had large dark pupils. Long eyelashes framed them.
Masaomi-san is always calm and makes me feel warm, but...
(W-what should I do...my heart is pounding)
He probably didn't know what was really going on in my heart, but Masaomi-san let go of my forehead.
He then tilted his head slightly.
Masaomi: "Hmm, it certainly looks like you have a slight fever. Let me give you a quick check just to be sure."
(A check-up?)
"I think I left my stethoscope in my room," said Masaomi-san as he had me sit down on the sofa.
Masaomi: "Okay, let's start by taking a look at your throat. Say ‘ahn’〜"
... Ahn〜?
Ah, Masaomi-san is a pediatrician, isn't he? I wonder if this is how he always does check-ups.
Next, he felt the area under my ears and neck.
Masaomi: "Does it hurt around here? Are you okay?"
Masaomi-san listened to me kindly, his expression was so gentle that it made my heart skip a beat again.
"It-It's okay..."
Masaomi: "I see, un, un."
Masaomi-san smiled and narrowed his eyes, he must be a good doctor. He has a kind expression and a gentle voice.
Even children who don't like hospitals would feel at ease.
I don't like hospitals either, but if Masaomi-san were to examine me, I'd feel a lot more at ease...
As I was thinking that──.
Masaomi: "Okay, let me see your tumtum."
"What...?!"
Tumtum... he means my belly...? I'm a little shaken when he asks me to show it.
(But this is a medical examination, so it's not meant in a weird way, right...?)
It’s a little embarrassing… but I pulled up my loungewear.
Masaomi: "!!"
Huh? Something seems strange about Masaomi-san. His face looks a little red...
Masaomi: "Um... well, um... you raised it a little too… much..."
"...?...!!"
M-ma-may-maybe I pulled my loungewear up too high, and my underwear was visible...?
"Oh, I'm so, so sorry!"
I quickly put my loungewear back down, but...
(Wow!! So embarrassing!)
I felt my cheeks getting hotter.
But it seemed I wasn't the only one who was upset. Masaomi-san's face was also getting even redder.
Masaomi: "Okay then, I'll… touch your belly."
"Y-yes..."
Before I knew it, Masaomi-san's childlike tone had disappeared.
Masaomi-san's hand timidly touched my stomach.
But the moment our skin touched; we could feel the tension between us——.
"Hmmm...!"
I couldn't help but let out a voice. Hearing this, Masaomi-san said, "S-sorry!" and quickly pulled his hand away.
"N-no! I'm sorry for making such a weird sound."
Involuntarily, we looked at each other. Then, at the exact same time, we both looked away── or so it seemed.
Masaomi: "I-I checked and there's nothing wrong with you. So, just get some rest and you'll be fine!"
Perhaps unable to bear the embarrassment any longer, Masaomi-san quickly left the living room.
As I watched him leave, I unconsciously relaxed my stiff shoulders.
It felt as if the feeling of Masaomi-san's hand was still lingering on my stomach.
(Masaomi-san is my older brother, so why am I feeling so embarrassed...?)
While I let out a sigh, someone suddenly tugged on the edge of my clothes.
"Huh?"
Wataru: "Onee-cha, it's not fair you're only getting along with Maakun!"
Wataru-chan was pouting and grabbing my loungewear.
Wataru: "I can cure your illness too!"
Wataru-chan puffed out his cheeks.
(Wha-Masaomi-san and I... are getting along...?)
Wataru-chan let go of my clothes and looked up at me.
Wataru: "Make sure you... sleep soundly. It’s the “gu” in “a e gu”, okay?"
And with that, he followed Masaomi-san out of the living room.
A few hours later──.
Needless to say, Ukyo-san severely scolded Wataru-chan for leaving the futon and food out...
#004-1
Fever, dizziness, spinning around
Honestly, this chapter is such a nice reading after the previous one; it is so light-hearted. It gives insight into the relationships between the brothers, especially what kind of role they have in the household. Masaomi is actually on my top 3. He is so easy to embarrass; it's such a pity the anime glossed over those moments :D
Maybe or probably not, dear reader, you're wondering why I changed from writing the intro and outro in Spanish to English. I've realized that most of the fandom communicates in English, and I really want to reach most of the fandom with these and share my excitement and opinions.
That would be it for this post. As I said earlier, I'll be translating book 2, so stay tuned <3 and sorry if my English is weird. I learned American English, but the person I talk to in English the most speaks British English as a second language, so... yeah.
Lips that hold love, Chapter #003 - Book 1, Season 1
MASTERLIST
The chapter is below the cut
Heyyy
Actually, I planned to post these chapters (the last 2 from book 1 that I wanted to translate) earlier today or, depending on where you live, yesterday :D But I somehow managed to delete it or smth while trying to post it on a time stamp. So, I had to organize all the content once again.
The good thing? I kinda improve it (?) or I hope so.
The original intro I wrote for this chapter was in Spanish, and I did my usual song and dance, summary, glossary, and stuff. This time I'm skipping the summary, I don't even know if someone reads it lol it's just fun for me.
On to the glossary:
受験生 (Jukensei) student preparing for or taking examinations (usu. entrance exams). Iori refers to himself as this, I translated it as test-taker.
ノーテンキ (notenki) laid-back; carefree; easygoing; thoughtless; happy-go-lucky. Being carefree, or a person who is carefree (perhaps recklessly so). Futo calls Ema this, I tried to check if this term is rude in Japanese but couldn't find anything conclusive. Personally, I think the way he uses it is rude.
ヒンソーな胸の女 hinsōna mune no on'na. Flat-chested woman. Again, Futo. Hinso by itself has the meaning of seedy-looking, thin. This one is rude and insulting, 0 doubt.
Also, I wanted to highlight that Futo, for some reason, is written in Katakana. Everyone else uses more standard Japanese, or at least the terms are easier to look up because they are written in the correct alphabet for native Japanese words (hiragana). If someone knows why, please explain it to me because I'm really curious.
The last thing, I tried to give characterization to how Tsubaki speaks. English is my second language, I don't have any accent or know someone who has it so... I wrote the phrases in standard American English and asked chat GPT to give it new york flavor lol
I don't think it's 100% accurate; I just thought it would be a nice touch. The way he is written originally gives him so much personality and if I just translated it as it was... it sounded meh.
The chapter is below:
The rainy season is over, and summer is finally here.
When you think of summer, you think of the sea! White clouds in a blue sky!
How wonderful it would be to relax at a tropical resort...
That's what I was thinking while watching an ad for a resort...
One night in July, when the tourist season had begun, as dinner was about to end, Ukyo-san spoke calmly.
Ukyo: " What should we do this year about that trip to the island?"
(Trip?)
I wonder what he is talking about.
While I was wondering, Tsubaki-san, who was drinking his after-meal coffee, pulled out his cell phone out of nowhere.
The others were also all looking at the calendar hanging on the wall.
Apparently, they were checking their schedules.
When I was in a daze, unable to comprehend the situation, Ukyo-san explained.
Ukyo: "Once a year, our family takes a trip to our mother's villa."
“Does she own a… villa?”
Ukyo: "Yes. It's a little far from here but on a remote island within the country."
Wataru: "It even has a private beach; it's amazing!"
Added Wataru-chan with a big smile, peeking his head from beside Ukyo-san.
I knew Miwa-san was a successful career woman, but...
(Her villa even has a private beach!)
Honestly, the scale of it all is so big that rather than being surprised, I was taken aback.
Ukyo: " Well, that's why we're deciding the dates for our family trip. What are your plans?"
"Oh, yes! Well..."
I get excited when I hear the words ‘family trip.’
After all, it's the first big event since I came to the Asahina household.
"I think I have classes until the 16th, so any time after that is fine."
Ukyo: "I see..."
When I told him that, the brothers began talking about their schedules.
Tsubaki: "Azusa and I are super busy with events and stuff during the summer holidays... Hmm... What we gonna do, Azusa?"
Azusa: "Yeah, that's true..."
Tsubaki-san and Azusa-san groaned as they looked into their respective cell phones.
After all, it's hard for popular voice actors to take time off.
Wataru: "Can't Tsukkun and Akkun come with us?"
Wataru-chan, who had been listening, said with a sad look on his face.
Tsubaki: "Don’t gimme that look, Wataru."
Wataru: "It’s just that... I want to go on a trip with everyone."
Azusa: "Don't worry. I'll make sure to adjust my work schedule accordingly."
Tsubaki-san and Azusa-san said that while taking turns patting Wataru-chan's head.
Ukyo: "So, how about this? We could all schedule our days off around Tsubaki and Azusa's, who are hard to schedule."
Ukyo-san summarizes, and everyone nods in agreement.
Azusa: "But wouldn't that cause problems for Futo?"
Kaname: "Well, he's around the clock, and we don't know what his schedule will be like because of work."
Azusa-san was worried about Futo-kun, who was away at work again today, but Kaname-san brushed it off.
(They say that when you're a member of an idol group at the peak of its popularity, you don't even have time to sleep...)
Come to think of it, I first met Futo-kun in the middle of the night.
I remember he was exhausted and lying on the sofa on the fifth floor...
At the time, he said some nasty things to me, which irritated me, but I guess that was just because he was tired from work.
I hope the timing works out so that Futo-kun can join us.
Kaname: " Ok, for now, students who have summer vacation will have to adjust to the working adults..."
Kaname-san clears his throat and says this, and Ukyo-san looks puzzled.
Ukyo: "Working adults… does that group include you, Kaname?"
Kaname: "Eh?! What are you saying, Kyo-nii? Of course, clearly!"
The brothers all sighed at Kaname-san's reaction.
Louis: "Working adult... somehow, that doesn't fit with Kaname-niisan..."
Louis-san said with a sigh, and Subaru-san agreed with him, nodding slightly.
Kaname: "Ah!? What's that? What do you mean?! You guys don’t seem to know, but I've been working properly!"
Ukyo: "You mean easy work, mainly flirting with women?"
Kaname: "Ah, well, that, that's... hey, Kyo-nii! You should at least support me!"
I couldn't help but laugh as I listened to the exchange between Ukyo-san and Kaname-san.
(Come to think of it, I may have never actually seen Kaname-san behaving monk-like...)
Kaname: "Ah. Imōto-chan, you just laughed, right?"
"Eh? No, no... that..."
I hurriedly deny it, but Kaname-san slowly approaches me.
Kaname: "If you're laughing, does that mean you think the same about me?"
"Uh……"
When I was at a loss for words, Kaname-san leaned in closer.
Kaname: "Am I right? Does my cute imōto-chan want to be punished?"
"Eh, no... No, that's not it!"
Oh no. Kaname-san's eyes are so serious!
Masaomi: "Yes, yes, that's enough."
As I was panicking, Masaomi-san intervened with a very relaxed attitude.
Phew, what a relief!
If I continued like that, it felt like I was in danger of being seriously punished.
Masaomi: "Well, then, for now, once Tsubaki and Azusa's schedule is decided, let's all go along with it. Fuuto, if he's lucky, he'll join in."
In the end, that's what Masaomi-san concluded, and the meeting came to an end.
(So, everyone's going on a trip to the island...)
I returned to my room and looked at the calendar hanging on the wall.
"I need to buy a swimsuit...!"
That's right. I also want a hat and a new travel bag.
I'll go shopping for them on my next day off.
I excitedly enter shopping plans into my planner.
I'm really looking forward to a villa with a private beach.
I hope summer vacation comes soon!
And then...
"Wow! This is a private beach!"
A few weeks later, we siblings were standing on a remote island a few hours away from Tokyo, a short flight and ferry ride away.
I put my luggage down at the stylish villa that stands near the beach, reminiscent of a tropical overwater bungalow, and stepped out onto the terrace.
The endless blue ocean spread out before me. And the white sand beach...
I can't believe this is only for the Asahina family.
It’s a shame that Papa is missing out on this view.
Apparently, Papa and Miwa-san couldn't make it because of work commitments, so in the end, it was just us siblings who came to the island.
(It's a shame because it's a special family trip... but I guess it can't be helped if it's work...)
As I gazed at the ocean with these thoughts in my mind, Iori-san came to my side.
Iori: "How is it? Do you like it?"
"Yes! A lot!"
When I answered, Iori-san chuckled.
Iori: "You're always so cheerful, aren't you?"
“I-Is that so…?”
Maybe I got a little too excited?
Iori: "Don't be so embarrassed. There's nothing wrong with being cheerful."
"I'm sorry..."
Iori: "So, don't apologize, okay?"
Iori-san smiled and patted my head.
(Uh... I feel kind of embarrassed...)
I don't really know what to do in this situation.
Iori: "Everyone else has already gone to the beach. Why don't you go, too?"
"I’ll do that."
I decided to return to my room and change my clothes at Iori-san's recommendation.
I changed into my brand-new swimsuit and stood in front of the mirror.
Actually, I wanted to get a one-piece swimsuit, but I followed the sales clerk’s advice and went for the two-piece type.
"Hmm..."
I'm a bit worried about my figure, maybe?
Juli: "Chī, what's with that outfit?"
"Huh? Well... it's just a swimsuit. What do you think?"
Juri stares at me.
Juli: "I think it suits you well."
"Thanks, Juri!"
Juli: "But..."
"Hmm?"
Juli: "Well, isn't it a little revealing?"
"Yeah, I guess... but it's a swimsuit, so I guess it's okay."
When I said that, Juri tilted his head.
Juri has been with me since I was little, and he's become like a dad to me. I'm sure he's worried about me.
"Only my siblings are here today, so don't worry."
I don't want Juli to worry unnecessarily.
Juli: "But that's why I'm worried."
"What?"
Juli: "No... it's nothing."
What's wrong, Julie?
After getting changed, I carefully applied sunscreen and headed to the beach.
Each sibling seems to be spending their time as they please.
Ukyo-san has set up a sunbed beside the cottage and reading a book.
As for Iori-san...
(I wonder if he's studying?)
Even though we are on vacation... That's impressive.
As for everyone else...
Subaru: "Oh!"
"Ah, Subaru-san"
As I was walking and looking around the beach, I bumped into Subaru-san coming out from behind a tree.
"Subaru-san. Are you going to go swimming now?"
Subaru: "Y-You..."
I wonder what's wrong with Subaru-san? Looking closely, his face is a little red...
Subaru: "What's with that outfit..."
"That outfit... it’s a swimsuit..."
Subaru: "I-I know that much!"
Maybe it doesn't suit me...
While I was feeling anxious, Subaru-san took off the hoodie he was wearing.
Subaru: "Wear this!"
"Huh?"
Then he thrusts it at me.
"What do you mean, “wear this” ...why..."
Subaru: "Nh-never mind that!"
Huh, what?!
What’s happening all of a sudden?!
While I was confused, Subaru-san seemed angry for some reason and shoved his hoodie on me.
"Uh, huh..."
Somehow, I feel like I have to wear it.
Subaru: "I'll get going!"
After watching me put it on, Subaru-san said this and ran off to the water's edge.
(Subaru-san is strange...)
Without making sense of it, I started walking towards the sea again.
The sun shining down from the blue sky is already shining brightly as we approach the height of summer.
(Good thing I put on sunscreen!)
The white sand is hot under my feet. I can't wait to dip into the cold ocean!
Just as I was thinking this, I heard Wataru-chan's innocent cry.
Wataru: " Onee-chan! Come here, come, come!"
"Wataru-chan!"
Wataru-chan and Masaomi-san were by the seashore. Together with Kaname-san, they were playing in the water.
When I approached them, Kaname-san looked dissatisfied for some reason.
Kaname: "Huh? What's with that unfashionable hoodie?"
"Ah, this is Subaru-san’s..."
Kaname: "Eh? What were you thinking, Suba-chan? Come on, let's take it off!"
"What!?"
Kaname-san stopped playing in the water and tried to take off Subaru-san's hoodie that I was wearing.
Wataru: "Why are you taking off Onee-chan's clothes, Kanakana?"
Wataru-chan asked with a puzzled look on his face.
"Oh, that's right! Why are you taking it off!"
Kaname-san stopped his hand as I tried to take advantage of Wataru-chan’s intervention.
Kaname: "That's right. I'll take off her clothes after the kids go to bed. I’ll look forward to it tonight.♪"
"K-Kaname-san!"
...You don't have to be looking forward to it...!!
Kaname-san grinned and finally let go of my hand.
Wataru: "......"
"Wataru-chan? What's wrong?"
Wataru: "......No, nothing."
For a moment, Wataru-chan seemed sullen. Maybe it was just my imagination?
After playing for a while, I came out of the water and saw Louis-san on the sandy beach.
(What’s he doing?)
Out of curiosity, I went closer...
"Wow, amazing...!"
Louis: "Huh...?"
In front of me was the Taj Mahal made out of sand? And even the Sagrada Familia...!
"A-all of this...Louis-san made it all?"
Louis: "Yup."
It's like a sculptor's work...! As expected from a hairdresser, she's very dexterous with her hands.
I was watching in awe when...
"Huh? Louis-san?"
Louis: "..."
Louis-san froze in place like a statue.
"W-what's wrong?"
Louis-san is staring at one spot, so I wave my hand in front of him...
Louis: "I'm almost at my limit. It's hot..."
What!?
As soon as Louis-san said that, he fell face down onto the pile of sand in front of him.
"Oh my! Someone, please!"
I screamed, pulling at the hem of Louis-san's clothes as he lay there.
It's heavy!
Tsubaki: “Hey, are you okay!?”
"Ah! Tsubaki-san!"
Tsubaki-san came running over.
“Louis-san suddenly collapsed!”
Tsubaki: "I can tell just by lookin’ at it, but what should we do?"
"’What should we do?’ Carry him to the shade!"
I said this while tugging on Louis-san's hem even more, and Tsubaki-san grinned.
Tsubaki: "There's a pile of sand in the right place, so let’s bury ‘im in there.★"
“Eh!?”
Tsubaki-san said something outrageous!
Then, Azusa-san rushes after Tsubaki-san and immediately slaps him on the back of the head.
Tsubaki: "Ouch?!"
Azusa: "You idiot! Stop joking. Let’s take him over there."
Tsubaki: "Yes, yes."
Oh, thank goodness...! Louis-san is too heavy for me to carry by myself.
Azusa-san and Tsubaki-san carried the exhausted Louis-san, laying him down under the parasol.
Azusa-san quickly took a cold towel from the cooler and tended to Louis-san.
"You seem pretty experienced at this."
As I was impressed by his skill, Azusa-san said with a wry smile.
Azusa: "This guy did the same thing last year."
"What?! Last year?"
Azusa: "When Louis gets absorbed in something, he doesn't notice what's going on around him."
Ah, I see... It certainly does seem that way.
Tsubaki: "Alright, if we keep ‘im cool like this for a bit, he should be fine. It happened last time, too."
As Tsubaki-san says this, he flaps a towel over Louis-san, blowing air on him.
Tsubaki: "Well, Louis is an idiot, but those guys are pretty damn dumb too."
"Hm?"
I followed Tsubaki-san's gaze as he looked at the horizon and saw two tremendous water splashes off into the ocean.
"Those are..."
Azusa: "Subaru and Yusuke. They were really excited about competing in swimming long-distance."
"Yeah..."
Azusa-san shrugged her shoulders.
Really, those two are full of energy.
Once Louis-san's condition had stabilized, we returned to the villa, where we found Iori-san and Futo-kun studying, just like before.
At first, Futo-kun was too busy to join the trip.
However, by coincidence, the shooting location for the drama he is in takes place near the island, so he's joining the family for a short while.
Iori: "Hey. Did you go for a swim?"
"Yes! Uh... are you studying, Iori-san?"
Iori: " Yeah. I'm a test-taker, after all."
Iori-san says this with a wry smile.
Futo: "Unlike carefree girls like you, we're busy."
"C-carefree...!"
Futo-kun snorts as he looks over something that looks like a script.
It really makes me angry...!
But be patient! Futo-kun is my younger brother.
"Aren't you two going to the beach?"
Regaining my composure, I asked.
Iori: "When I get sunburned, I get red right away. It's a bit embarrassing."
Iori-san laughs in a troubled tone.
He is indeed very white, and it would probably be terrible if he got sunburned...
Futo: "I can't just go out in the sun without thinking, like that flat-chested woman. I mean, a sunburn is totally out of the question. I'm an entertainer."
Hmm? A flat-chested woman?! Is he talking about me?!
Futo: "You’re flat-chested, so you're wearing that hoodie to hide your figure, right?"
"Wh-what! It's true that I don't have much chest, but..."
So annoying! Super offensive!
No matter how isn't this something awful to say?!
Iori: "Futo...!"
Futo: "Hmph!"
Iori-san chides him, but Futo-kun just turns away and doesn't even bother to apologize.
Ugh!
Why do I have to stand this!?
"I'm going to the beach again."
If this keeps up, we'll probably get into a fight. Thinking about that, I ran out to the beach again.
When I returned to the beach, the sun had gone down.
The weather had been so nice just a moment ago...
Even the sea breeze felt a little cold.
─── By the way, I wonder if Louis-san is okay?
I looked under the parasol, but there was no one there.
Masaomi: "Hey!"
"Oh, Masaomi-san."
Suddenly, Masaomi-san came running. He seemed to be really panicking.
Masaomi: "Have you seen Wataru?"
"Eh? Wataru-chan? I haven't seen him since we parted ways earlier... What happened?"
Masaomi: "Well, he just disappeared from sight."
"What??"
That's terrible!
"You mean, into the ocean?! Did he go too deep?!"
Masaomi: "No... he can't swim. Besides, I told him to play in shallow waters only."
Even so, Masaomi-san couldn't hide his anxiety.
"Let's split up and search for him!"
Masaomi: "Yeah..."
Then, Kaname-san, Tsubaki-san, and Azusa-san came.
Kaname-san smiled bitterly and slowly pulled me by the shoulder.
His arms wrapped around my body.
"Uh...?! K-Kaname-sa...?!"
(Wh-what...? What is this...?)
Kaname: "Your body is completely cold, you know."
As he says this, Kaname-san gently tightens his embrace.
As he hugs me tightly, my heart involuntarily leaps.
(Ugh...!!)
The warmth of Kaname-san's chest and arms slowly seeps into my body.
(My heart is pounding... my heart is pounding because of Kaname-san... even though he's my older brother...)
Not knowing what to do, I just let myself rest in Kaname-san's arms when he whispered in my ear, ‘Thank you.’
I looked up at Kaname-san's face, feeling embarrassed,
Kaname: "Thank you for searching for Wataru in this rain,"
Kaname-san added.
"B-but Wataru-chan is my precious little brother..."
Kaname: "Yeah, that's true. But you're also my precious little sister, so I don't want to push you any further than this."
Finally, as if whispering into my ear, Kaname-san gently asked, "Do you understand?"
Kaname-san's breath felt strangely hot to my ears, which had gone cold.
Just when I was about to say something like that───
Tsubaki: “Kananii!!”
Hearing Tsubaki-san's voice, I hastily shook off Kaname-san's arms.
Tsubaki: "We found Wataru!"
Tsubaki-san said, out of breath.
Thank goodness! Wataru-chan is safe.
Kaname-san and I breathed a sigh of relief.
Kaname: "Anyway, let's go back."
"Y-Yes!"
I nodded to Kaname-san's words and started walking.
Kaname-san was walking in front of me, talking to Tsubaki-san.
When his arm came into view, I couldn't help but look away.
(Am I becoming aware of Kaname-san...?)
Kaname-san thought of me and warmed me up like that...
Even though we didn't know where Wataru-chan was, my heart started pounding when he hugged me...
I'm insensitive.
But───
Wataru: "I'm sorry...!"
Everyone is gathered in the villa’s large living room.
Wataru-chan would occasionally glance up at everyone, then look down again.
As expected, he seems extremely dejected.
It seems he is very shocked that it got so serious.
As for where Wataru-chan was, it was no big deal.
Tired from playing in the water, he returned to the villa by himself and took a nap with Juri.
"I'm glad nothing happened."
Wataru: "Onee-chan, I'm sorry..."
"It's okay. You're all right."
I patted Wataru-chan's head gently. Then, Wataru-chan looked up at me with a crying face.
Tsubaki-san, who was watching the situation, said with a dumbfounded look on his face,
Tsubaki: "You, kids ain't s'posed to be runnin' around alone, got it?"
Hearing this, Wataru-chan looked a little annoyed.
Azusa: "Is there something you want to say?"
Azusa-san asked gently and after a moment of silence,
Wataru: "…I'm not a kid anymore,"
Wataru-chan muttered in a mosquito-like voice.
Her round eyes were filled with tears.
(Perhaps he was sulking because Kaname-san called him a child while we played in the sea earlier, too?)
Suddenly, I remembered our conversation early that day.
At that time, Wataru-chan did seem a little sulky...
Masaomi: "Wataru, if you say you're not a child, then you shouldn't cause trouble for everyone."
Wataru: "Makkun..."
When Masaomi-san spoke, Wataru-chan's face looked like he was about to cry. His mouth was twisted in a frown.
I patted Wataru-chan's head again, saying, “It’s okay, it’s okay.''
I know we shouldn't spoil him, but seeing Wataru-chan crying really makes my heart ache.
Ukyo: "You've caused a lot of trouble for everyone, so I need you to help me prepare dinner tonight. Adults pay the price for their mistakes, right──?"
Ukyo-san's eyes sparkled mysteriously.
Suddenly, Wataru-chan, eyes still watery, clung to me.
This looks like it's going to be a bit of a harsh punishment.
Do your best, Wataru-chan! This is surely the first step towards becoming an adult.
As I was cheering him in my mind, Ukyo-san said,
Ukyo: "By the way, you guys should go get changed. You're soaking wet."
Come to think of it, everyone was soaked from the rain.
"Oh, that's right. Subaru-san, your hoodie got wet, so I'll wash it and return it to you."
Subaru: "No, don’t bother... Don't worry about it. Just give it back."
“That’s not…”
Subaru: "No problem. I kind of forced it on you… so I can't cause you any more trouble."
Hmm? Subaru-san seems kinder than usual.
"But I feel bad about it... Oh, if you don't mind, I can wash your clothes too!"
Subaru-san's clothes are soaked from searching for Wataru-chan. I might as well wash them together.
"Take it off, please!"
Subaru: "Hey? Stop..."
I gently tug Subaru-san's clothes...
Wataru: "Onee-chan, taking off your clothes is supposed to be a fun thing to do at night, right?"
Wataru-chan seemed to remember Kaname-san's from earlier and said that.
"Huh? W-what did you say..."
My brothers looked puzzled.
And at the same time, Kaname-san burst out laughing.
Subaru-san looked at me, shock in his eyes.
Subaru: "Hey, what in the world did you tell Wataru..."
"What?! It wasn't me, I didn’t say anything ...!!"
I shook my head vigorously and repeatedly denied it...
Late at night.
Unable to fall asleep, I went out to the beach with Juli.
I can't get the memory of Kaname-san hugging me in the forest out of my mind...
(Ha, I... I guess there's something wrong with me...)
Even during dinner, I kept glancing at Kaname-san...
I was clearly not my usual self.
I looked up at the night sky, sighing.
The rain had stopped. The pitch-black sky was filled with stars.
It was as if they were falling from the sky.
"It's amazing... You can't see a sky like this in Tokyo."
Juli: "That would be hard to do in the city."
"Come to think of it, a long time ago, when I went camping in the mountains with Papa, I saw a sky like this."
Juli: "That brings back memories. Chii used to cry a lot because she was scared of the sound of insects."
"Juli used to get eaten by mosquitoes all the time."
Juli: "Why do you remember something like that...?"
"Well, because..."
As I casually conversed with Juli, I suddenly heard a voice from behind me.
Kaname: "You're talking to yourself pretty loudly, aren't you?"
"Huh?!"
Surprised, I turned around to see Kaname-san standing there, smiling brightly.
Kaname: "Or maybe you were having a conversation with the squirrel?"
"No, not at all..."
I shook my head vigorously.
I wanted to keep the fact that I could talk to Juli a secret for now.
It's weird to be able to talk to squirrels in the first place...
Kaname: "I was just joking. You don't have to deny it so desperately."
"Y-You're right..."
Ah, he surprised me. Kaname-san can't be underestimated because he is strangely sharp, even if only occasionally.
Kaname: "By the way, imōto-chan, are you taking a lonely walk along the beach at night?"
"Not lonely, but that's right."
Kaname: "I see. Maybe you couldn't fall asleep?"
"Huh..."
When he asked, my heart leaped involuntarily.
(I-it sounded meaningful because I was strangely conscious of it, right?)
"I-the sound of the waves... it was bothering me a bit..."
Kaname: "What a coincidence, me too. Did the sound of the waves lapping and retreating make your heart race?"
I said that as a last resort, but Kaname-san replied nonchalantly.
Somehow, there was something a little different about him than usual.
The Kaname-san I know is more...
Kaname: " Imōto-chan?"
"Oh, sorry..."
No good, I was spacing out.
I feel like I'm just floating around all alone; I shouldn’t be like this...
Kaname: "Well, since we're here, why don't we enjoy the night breeze together for a while?"
"Yeah, I guess..."
Is it really okay to be with Kaname-san in this situation?
For a moment, I felt uneasy.
Kaname: "Well, let's go."
"Y-yes."
And yet, the next moment, I was walking, urged on by Kaname-san.
Somehow, Kaname-san tonight has a magnetism that compels me to do so.
That's what I felt───.
. . . . . . . . . . . . .
Kaname-san and I took a walk along the beach at night. I silently follow Kaname-san from behind.
The sea at night is incredibly calm. Occasionally, I can see the moon floating in the night sky reflected on the water's surface.
The sound of Kaname-san's footsteps overlaps with mine. For some reason, that makes me nervous.
Kaname: "I love the ocean at night. It gets pitch black, and the boundary between the sky and the ocean disappears. You're thrown into a vast space... I like that feeling."
Feeling unusually romantic, Kaname-san smiles quietly as he saunters along the water's edge.
Kaname: "The ocean on a dark night is filled with ripples... Don't you think humans are insignificant when surrounded by nature like this?"
"Yes, that's right... All we can do is surrender ourselves to it..."
Kaname: "That's right."
Kaname-san said in a singing voice and slowly walked into the sea.
"Kaname-san, be careful, okay?"
Kaname: "It's okay!"
Kaname-san laughs as he says that, somehow, he looks like a child...
Kaname-san has an entirely different atmosphere tonight than usual.
I can't find the right words to say it, but...
(If someone told me his usual appearance is just temporary, I would probably believe it.)
The way he is now may be the true Kaname-san.
He waded into the ocean up to his knees and stretched his arms towards the night sky.
Kaname: "When I'm in a place like this, I really feel like I'm alive thanks to God's blessings. I don't care about trivial things... don't you think so?"
Kaname-san spoke in a light-hearted tone.
But his words penetrated deep into my heart.
"Kaname-san, so you can think of things like that. I thought you only thought about women."
Kaname: "You’re cruel. I'm a monk, you know? I'm always thinking about peace for all humankind, peace of mind, and maybe a little bit about women."
See, he thinks about it after all.
I chuckled, and suddenly Kaname-san stopped moving.
"Is something wrong?"
Kaname: "Nothing, you... have you caught a cold?"
"Oh, yes... I'm fine, thanks to you."
Kaname: "That's good. Thank you for today. I'm so glad to have a girl like you as my little sister."
Saying that Kaname-san smiled gently.
I can't help but be fascinated by Kaname-san.
That's right───.
He's always smiling and saying things that I can't tell if they are jokes or serious.
He seems a little gentler today. And there's depth to it...
Perhaps the way Kaname-san looks right now is───.
And just as I thought that...
Kaname: "Whoa!"
"Ka-Kaname-san?!"
Kaname-san disappeared into the black waves.
This is bad!
I took Juli off my shoulders and hurried into the sea.
"Kaname-san?! What's wrong...?!"
...There, sitting on his butt, Kaname-san looked a little stunned.
Kaname: "Wow, that's lame. I'm so lame..."
"Pfft...!"
It seems some seaweed has gotten tangled around his leg.
I'm sorry to say that Kaname-san looked a little dejected, and his expression was a little strange. Trying to hold back my laughter, I held out my hand.
And then───.
“!!!!”
Kaname-san pulled me hard by the hand...
Splat! I plunged headfirst into the ocean.
"Pfft... W-w-that's cruel!"
Kaname: "Getting my revenge for laughing!"
I’m soaking wet, though!?
I brushed the water droplets off my face and opened my eyes.
Then, Kaname-san's chest and face were right in front of me.
"W...!!"
The memory of him holding me in the rain comes back to me.
(W-What am I thinking...)
As I hurriedly tried to leave, I suddenly noticed something.
Kaname-san has a tattoo on his right collarbone.
"That's..."
Kaname: "Hmm? That tattoo?"
"This is the first time I've seen one up close... Is this a cross?"
Ah, but he's a monk, so probably it’s not a cross.
Although, he's probably the only monk with a tattoo.
Kaname: "It is... a sword."
"A sword?"
I wonder why he chose a sword as a motif.
Kaname: "Hey, imōto-chan. Can I tell you something today?"
"Eh?"
As I wondered about this, Kaname-san smiled gently and began to speak.
Kaname: "It's about the sword. There's a saying that goes, 'The pen is mightier than the sword.' It means that speech is stronger than force...Did you know?"
What is he saying all of a sudden? A pen? A sword…?
As I was wondering about this, my arm was pulled hard.
Kaname: "But there is something in this world that is stronger than a sword or a pen."
Kaname: "You know, that's love."
"Love?"
That word was tangled between our lips.
By the time I tried to ask what that meant, my lips...
were already covered by Kaname-san's.
Juli: "Wha-wha-wha-what?!"
I could hear Juli's voice in the distance.
What on earth is going on?
Not understanding what was going on, I could only abandon myself to the slow swell of the waves.

What it means to be protected, Chapter #002-2 - Book 1, Season 1
MASTERLIST
The story is below, in English. The following text in Spanish is my commentary.
The PDF with the full text in Japanese is at the end of the post.
English text below:
After returning to my room, I dried my hair and suddenly realized it was 6:30.
I hurried to the kitchen, Ukyo-san had already started preparing breakfast.
"Good morning."
Ukyo: "Oh. Good morning. You'll be helping again today, won't you?"
"Yes."
Making breakfast with Ukyo-san has become a daily routine.
I asked Ukyo-san what the menu will be and divide up the work.
Today, as usual, we'll be making rice, miso soup, pumpkin salad, and an omelet.
I began to prepare pumpkin salad.
(First, cook the pumpkin in the microwave......)
I cut the pumpkin into quarters and wrapped it in plastic wrap.
As I did so, Ukyo-san stared intently at my hands.
"What's wrong?"
Ukyo: "What are you going to do with that?"
"Oh, well. You can easily soften pumpkins and potatoes by microwaving them."
Ukyo: "I see. It does take a long time to boil it until the core is gone."
Ukyo-san seems seriously impressed.
(I’m a little embarrassed……)
Ukyo-san is making an omelet on the stove.
One after the other, fluffy yellow omelets are made, without a single burnt spot.
(He's making three at a time...)
Ukyo seems very experienced, more like a chef than a lawyer.
As I continued cooking, admiring Ukyo-san's skill, Kaname-san appeared in the living room.
Kaname: "Good morning, imōto-chan."
"Good morning. You didn't train with Subaru-san this morning, did you?"
Kaname: "A lot happened last night. The truth is, I didn't get enough sleep ~"
As Kaname-san spoke, he yawned loudly.
He certainly looked sleepy. His eyes still looked half closed.
(Well, I had a lot going on too.)
When he says, “a lot happened”, it sounds a bit meaningful.
I guess Kaname-san's “a lot happened” really are profound in meaning.
"Would you like some tea? It'll wake you up."
Kaname: “Hmm, it’s okay. More than that, if you gave a wake-up kiss, I think I'd feel a lot better……”
"I-I won't do that!!!"
Kaname-san is Kaname-san, even if he's still sleep-deprived.
(For now, let's proceed with the preparations)
――― And then.
"Hya?!"
Suddenly, I felt a cold, chilly hand on my neck.
Louis: "It's so moist... Did you use that treatment?"
"Louis-san...?"
Louis-san is stroking my hair.
Wow, what a surprise...
"Oh, good morning. The treatment that Louis-san taught me the other day fells amazing! Thank you."
I've been using the product that Louis-san introduced to me recently, and it's really good for my hair.
Louis: "Next time, I'll show you how to blow dry your hair properly."
"Oh, thank you."
Then, for some reason, Louis-san looked closely at Juli, who was sitting on the kitchen counter.
"... Is there something wrong with Juli?"
Louis: "Are you not going to talk today?"
"Eh?"
With that, he went off in the direction of the sofa.
What does that mean? Juli also tilted his head.
Louis-san really is a strange person...
…………………………………
As breakfast was ready, everyone gathered at the dining table, except for Masaomi-san, who as usual was still in bed, and Fuuto-kun, who had to work until late last night. Subaru-san was there too, but he didn't even look in my direction.
(Hmm, this is really awkward...)
Anyone would react the same way if they were seen dressed like that...
For now, let's not worry too much about it.
After we all said "itadakimasu" in unison, I immediately put the omelet that Ukyo had made into my mouth.
(Oh, it's delicious...!!)
I was slightly moved by its fluffy, melting texture, and then... I noticed Subaru-san shoveling his food into his mouth with great vigor.
Iori: "Subaru-niisan, why don't you eat more calmly?"
Subaru: "..."
Subaru-san continues to eat furiously without heeding Iori-san's advice.
Eventually, Subaru-san puts down his chopsticks and stands up briskly.
Subaru: "Thank you for the meal. I'm off now!"
That was quick!
Subaru-san finished his meal in no time and was gone like the wind.
I guess it was just difficult for him to face me after all.
As I was thinking about that,
Azusa: "It's early. I guess the basketball club is having morning practice. It's not going to be easy against some of the strong teams in the league."
Tsubaki: "But you know, they lost in the fifth round of the championship in May, right? Isn't that a bit dangerous?"
Azusa: "Now that I think about it, the team seemed to have a hard time in the rookie tournament. But Subaru's three-pointers seemed to be pretty good."
Tsubaki-san and Azusa-san were conversing.
Come to think of it, I wonder what has happened to the two of them since then?
Even though I was concerned about Subaru-san leaving, my eyes couldn't help but glance at the two of them.
(Because I was curious...)
Azusa: "Oh, Tsubaki, there's a grain of rice on your mouth. I'll get it off for you."
Tsubaki: "Thanks, Azusa."
(They're so close...)
The two of them seem to get along well, unaware that I am agonizing over such things.
(Are they dating after all?)
I don't think so, but seeing the situation like this, I can't help but think that maybe they are!?
Iori: "What's wrong?"
Suddenly, Iori-san spoke to me.
"Huh? What's the matter?" I said in a strange, high-pitched voice.
Iori: "Well, you are furrowing your eyebrows."
"Ah!"
I was taken aback when Iori-san pointed it out. It seems I had been thinking deeply and made a troubled face without realizing it.
Iori: "Is something bothering you? Or are you feeling unwell?"
"No, nothing. It's not like that..."
Everyone at the table turned their attention to me.
Wataru: "But it seems like you're not eating much, onee-chan..."
Even Wataru-chan spoke out of concern.
(That's enough, listen!)
"Um, well... there's something I want to ask Tsubaki-san and Azusa-san."
Tsubaki: "Eh? Us?"
"Y-Yes..."
I looked back and forth between the two of them and hesitantly opened my mouth.
"Ummm... Tsubaki-san and Azusa-san, what kind of relationship do you have?"
Azusa: "Hmm? What kind of relationship?"
"...Like, are you dating..."
Yusuke: "Pffff!!"
At that word, Yusuke-kun spits out the miso soup he was drinking.
I-I suppose that makes sense. Anyone would be surprised by that statement.
Yusuke: "Da, dating... Ah... Eh... you mean as a couple, right...?"
Yusuke-kun muttered, sounding stunned.
Hearing this, Wataru-chan and Louis-san asked,
Wataru: "Are Tsukkun and Akkun lovers?"
Louis: "Lovers...?"
They asked innocently, Tsubaki-san and Azusa-san looked at each other.
The conversation that took place in the living room last night kept going round and round in my head.
Azusa: "What? Suddenly."
Azusa-san looked at me with a puzzled expression.
"Um, well! Last night, Tsubaki and Azusa were in the living room and... I overheard them."
I'm sorry! Tsubaki-san and Azusa-san!
When I spoke up, it seemed like something had dawned on them.
Tsubaki: "That's right! We decided to go out. I fell in love and I couldn't stop myself, so last night I confessed to Azusa♪"
Azusa: "Tsubaki..."
"What!?!?"
Yusuke-kun and I both shouted at the same time. Oh, so it's what I thought...
Tsubaki: "And Azusa felt the same way, so we're happily lovers now. And we did all sorts of things after that yesterday!"
Azusa: "Wait... stop..."
Tsubaki: "Don't hide it now, Azusa♪"
Tsubaki-san grabs Azusa-san who is resisting and even kisses him on the cheek!!
Yusuke: "That's just... weird for two brothers, right?!"
Yusuke-kun is completely flustered.
Kaname: "Well, I think love between men is okay too. Gender, age, and race don't matter when it comes to love. And it's between family members too...right? Imōto-chan♪"
Kaname-san, who was sitting next to me, leaned in close and whispered.
"Huh?! Wh, wh, what is it?!"
Kaname: "What is it? Don't pretend not to understand."
Just because Tsubaki and Azusa are getting lovey-dovey, don't drag me into it!
Ukyo: "Okay, okay, stop joking and hurry up and eat your breakfast."
"Huh?"
I was taken aback by the words of Ukyo-san, who looked dumbfounded.
Are you kidding...?
Tsubaki: "Hahaha! That was a good reaction, you know."
Azusa: "Ha~. Tsubaki, stop being such a jerk in the morning."
"Wh-what do you mean...?"
Azusa: "We were reading a script together last night."
Tsubaki: "Yeah, we were practicing for work!"
"Practice for work...?"
Azusa: "I got into the role and practiced my acting by actually saying the lines out loud."
Tsubaki: "Last night... I think it was a drama CD about a brother-sister romance. I was working on the role of the older brother, and I had Azusa play the younger sister as a practice partner."
"Ah, what...!"
Oh, what? That's what it was... I'm so surprised...
I mean, I jumped to conclusions...
I'm embarrassed...
…………………………………
Tsubaki: "Now that I think of it, are you and Yusuke still going to school separately?"
"Huh? Ah... yes."
I was taken aback by Tsubaki-san's sudden question, so I blushed.
Actually, even though we go to the same school and are in the same class, we go to and from school separately.
That's because Yusuke-kun doesn't want people to know that we're ‘siblings.’ He deliberately goes to school at a different time.
Tsubaki: "Why don't you just go together?"
Yusuke: “Uh, shut up! I-I'm busy so I have to go earlier!"
Yusuke-kun stammers in response to Tsubaki-san's words, and now Kaname-san presses him.
Kaname: "You say that, but really you're just embarrassed to go to school with your little sister, right?"
Yuu: "N-no way! It's not like that!!"
Yusuke-kun is even more flustered.
Azusa: "Isn't it hard for a girl to ride a crowded train alone in the morning?"
Azusa-san looks concerned and calls him out.
Iori: "I'd accompany you, but we go to different schools, and I bike to school anyway..."
Wataru: "Are you okay, onee-chan?"
Louis: "Yusuke... Honestly, it’s important."
Iori-san, Wataru-chan, and Louis-san are all so kind.
"Don't worry! Even though I look like this, I'm actually pretty strong!"
Tsubaki: "Don't push yourself too hard. It's unthinkable that our cute little sister would be crushed in a crowded train. What do you think about that as a man, Yusuke?"
Yusuke: "Ah... uuh..."
Yusuke-kun seems troubled by Tsubaki-san's criticism.
"You don't have to push yourself, Yusuke-kun. I'm totally fine."
Even though I said that the brothers' eyes were all fixed-on Yusuke-kun...
Everyone, calm down!
Then Yusuke-kun shouted,
Yusuke: "...Just for today! And when we leave the house, don't call me 'Yusuke-kun'!!!"
…………………………………
On the way to the station, I walked one step behind Yusuke, who looked sulky the whole time.
We arrived at Kichijoji station, feeling somewhat awkward.
(What an amazing person…)
The platform is packed with people.
Hinode High School, where Yusuke-kun and I go, is about 30 minutes away by train in Iidabashi.
To get to Iidabashi, we take the Chuo Line rapid train to Yotsuya. From there, we change to a local train for two stops.
(It's nice that Bright Centrair can be reached by bicycle.)
When I think about the hardships that lie ahead, I really envy those who can commute by bicycle.
As I was thinking, a rapid train glided in front of me.
Yusuke-kun and I were all pushed onto the train.
(Hmm... the rush hour is especially intense today...)
Right now, it is the peak of congestion. Once we get to Shinjuku Station the number of passengers will decrease significantly, so it should be a bit easier...
Yusuke: "A-Are you okay...?"
"It’s... a bit painful... Kyaaah!"
The train shook violently.
Just as I was about to lose my balance, Yusuke-kun, who was nearby, supported me.
"Th-Thanks... Yusuke-kun."
Yusuke: "...I told you not to call me by my name!"
Yusuke-kun made me stand in front of the door, shielding me from the crowd.
(His face is bright red...)
It seems like he's trying desperately to protect me.
Just as I was feeling grateful, the train started to shake again.
"Ahhh!"
Yusuke: "Are you okay?"
I couldn't help but press my body against him. It was a crowded train so it couldn't be helped...
I felt apologetic so I raised my head, and our eyes met at close range.
(So close...)
Yusuke: "Uh..."
Yusuke-kun hastily looks away.
The sound of the train clanking echoed in my ears.
I didn't notice it when we were at home or in the classroom, but...
His strong arms and sturdy body were protecting me.
Feeling that, I was reminded that Yusuke is a boy after all...
(Thanks to you, I feel a lot better now. Thank you.)
I once again murmured gratitude in my heart to Yusuke, who was desperately trying to protect me.
…………………………………
"Today's rush was even more intense. Thank you so much for helping me."
Yusuke: "I-I didn't really help you or anything! I just happened to end up positioned like that..."
Yusuke-kun said bluntly, which made me smile.
"But thanks to you, it was a lot easier. Thank you so much, Yusuke-kun."
Yusuke: "Ugh...!"
When I said that, for some reason Yusuke-kun turned bright red.
Yusuke: "I-I-I told you not to call me by my name! I-I mean, I'm going ahead!"
Yusuke-kun said that and then made a mad dash for some reason.
He ran off.
Yusuke-kun's face was as red as his hair...
"Well, I've got to get going too, or I'm going to be late."
The train is usually packed and uncomfortable, but today it felt like we arrived at the station in the blink of an eye.
"I hope we can come together again."
I ran toward the school gate, following Yusuke-kun as he ran away.
Several days after #007 Side Masaomi - Book 2, Season 1
MASTERLIST
The story is below, in English. The following text in spanish is my commentary.
That day, unusually, she stayed in the living room even after she had finished cleaning up after dinner.
(Oh, maybe this is my chance)
That thought crosses my mind.
In fact, even though we live in the same apartment building, we don't often have the chance to see each other.
When I get busy working at a hospital, I find it difficult to come home and end up working 24 hours a day.
Even if that wasn't the case, my days off tended to be irregular, so it was quite difficult to find an opportunity to talk to her.
.... I'm the only one who thinks that way,
and when I told Ukyo,
Ukyo: “Masaomi-niisan is not very good at managing his time.”
I was afraid he would get angry, so I told Kaname,
Kaname: "Isn't it just a question of feelings?"
I'm sure that would just be dismissed.
--Anyway.
Right now, we're both in the living room.
Plus, it looks like she has some free time.
(Great. I'll tell her tonight.)
That's what I was thinking when I walked towards her. / Approached her
Masaomi: "Hey."
"...Haha~"
She yawned.
Perhaps because she was tired, she yawned so loudly that her pharynx was clearly visible.
Masaomi: ".......Ah"
"......Huh"
Time stops. I can see her cheeks gradually turning red.
(Um, well)
What should I do in a situation like this?
Smiling would feel strange, laughing would be wrong, and ignoring her would be unnatural.
For a moment, my mind went blank, and I couldn't say anything.
"... I'm so sorry!"
But then, she apologized to me first.
Masaomi: "Oh, well, you know, there's really nothing to apologize for..."
This can't go on like this. Anyway, I have to say something.
Masaomi: "Ah, you see."
I tried saying that anyway.
"Y-yes."
She answered while covering her mouth with one hand.
...No good.
As I watched that gesture, I became more and more confused.
Anything is fine. Just something that you think she'll be interested in.
Masaomi: "Um, well... I want to ask about games."
I blurted that out before I realized it.
"Huh?"
She looked at me with a puzzled expression. ...But those eyes weren't accusatory.
Masaomi: "Ah... well... you see."
Inwardly, I felt a little relieved as I connected the words.
Masaomi: "Actually, Wataru wanted to play a game..."
" Wataru -chan?"
Masaomi: "Uh, yeah. I was thinking, maybe you could find something, because... I have no idea what would be good."
"Oh, I see."
Masaomi: "So, I was wondering if you could help me..."
"Shall I bring it?"
She suddenly said that.
Masaomi: "Huh?"
"I have something good. I'll bring it over right away."
Masaomi: "Um... well..."
I give up.
I never expected to get such a reaction. But now I can't say that I just blurted something out.
Masaomi: "I-I'm glad to hear that. But isn't it bothersome?"
"No way, not at all. Oh, by the way, Masaomi-san, why don't you come and play too? It's a game that can be played by three people."
Masaomi: "Oh... is that so? Okay, just a little then."
"Okay. Just wait!"
She ran out of the living room. In the end, the three of us - me, her, and Wataru - spent the night playing games.
.......
(Hmm, what should I do?)
A few days later, one afternoon, I was feeling a bit lost and eating lunch alone in the kitchen.
(I never thought I'd have so few opportunities.)
I opened the photo album on the table. There was a picture of a woman dressed in formal attire.
(As expected, it would be bad to say it later. Somehow, today...)
While I was thinking about this, I suddenly heard a loud voice from behind me.
Kaname: "Whoa, who is this beautiful woman?!?"
I turned around and saw Kaname standing there. It seemed he had been asleep until just a moment ago. His eyes were blurry, as if he had just woken up.
Masaomi: "Good morning, Kaname."
Kaname: "Masami-nii, are you off today?"
Masaomi: "Yeah, I just finished the night shift. I have something to do tomorrow, so I took today off to prepare for it. What about you?"
Kaname: "Me? I'm off today. I drank too much yesterday. It was Friday, so..."
Masaomi: "...Ah, I see."
Since it’s Kaname, I'm sure they were having fun making a fuss.
Masaomi: "Did you find a nice person?"
Kaname: "Ah, nothing like that, we were just hanging out. They were really fun, but that's all."
Kaname glances at the photo in the album again.
Kaname: "But, well...how should I put it, isn't she surprisingly beautiful? Is she an acquaintance?"
Masaomi: "Yeah, I guess so."
Kaname: "Really? Can you introduce me to her next time?"
Masaomi: "Yeah, that's fine."
Kaname: "Ah, are you sure? By the way, who is that?"
Masaomi: "Oh, that person is..."
Just as I was about to say that, as if struck by lightning, an idea flashed in my mind.
Masaomi: "That's it!"
Maybe because I suddenly yelled out loud, Kaname looked surprised.
Masaomi: "Hey, Kaname, I have a favor to ask of you. Can you help me?"
Kaname: "...M-Masa-nii?"
Kaname looked at me with a doubtful expression.
.......
"What is it, Kaname-san?"
A few hours later, she came into the living room. She had just come home from school and was still in her uniform.
Kaname: "Oh, I'm sorry, little sister."
"I came home in a hurry because you said it was important. It's really important, isn't it?"
She said, as if to emphasize. Kaname's face twisted in a slightly sad expression.
Kaname: "It’s not like that, little sister. You could trust me a bit more, wouldn't you?"
"...I would like to do that if possible."
That's a surprisingly harsh thing to say. Even Kaname was smiling bitterly.
Kaname: "...Well, it's okay, imoto-chan will understand eventually. More importantly, it's actually Masa-nii who has something to tell little sister."
"Masaomi-san?"
She turns to me.
Kaname: "Come on, Masa-nii."
Kaname urges me on. He's made all the effort to set things up for me, so I can't let this opportunity go to waste.
Masaomi: "Yeah, that's right. I wanted to talk to you sooner, but I just couldn't put it into words. So I asked Kaname for reinforcements."
"Oh. Reinforcements... huh?"
She looks puzzled.
I hurried on.
Masaomi: "Well, there was something I wanted to talk about, but I didn't know how to start the conversation. So I was totally stuck. You see, the point is that he's used to things like this, or rather he's good at treating women..."
“W-what are you talking about?”
She gave me a suspicious look.
(Oh no, I have no choice. I'll just say it all at once.)
I take a deep breath and say it.
Masaomi: "You see, I actually have an omiai tomorrow."
"Eh?"
Her voice aches in my heart.
Masaomi: "I'm sorry I didn't tell you until the last minute... This is the person..."
While saying this, I handed her the album.
"Wow..."
She looked inside and let out a sigh of awe.
"She's really beautiful... What kind of person is she?"
Masaomi: "She's the daughter of the chairman of the hospital where I work."
"What!"
She cried out. She must have been very surprised because her voice was trembling.
"The chairman's daughter?!?!? You have an omiai with her? Where did you meet her?!?!"
Masaomi: "It was a while ago when I was on the night shift, there was an emergency. It was a young woman who had choked on something."
I continued to explain as I got the album back.
Masaomi: "It would have been easy to remove it with open surgery, but the person accompanying her said that the patient was a famous singer, and we shouldn’t under any circumstance cut her throat."
"And so?"
Masaomi: "I had no choice, so I took charge and tried a method that didn't require surgery. I was a little worried, but fortunately, it worked."
"Wow... Masaomi, you're amazing."
Masaomi: “Well, it’s not that much..."
To be honest, I feel a little embarrassed when I get praised so much.
(I don't like the sight of blood... so if I can avoid surgery, that's the best thing.)
Masaomi: "... anyway."
I cleared my throat lightly before continuing.
Masaomi: "When everything went well, the person accompanying the patient was even happier than the patient himself. She said that I was the pride of our hospital or something. I thought that was a strange thing to say, but it turned out that the person accompanying the patient was the daughter of the hospital's chairman."
"That's what happened."
Masaomi: "After that, the daughter came to the hospital occasionally. We used to talk occasionally. Then, the other day, the manager suddenly called me and told me about the omiai."
"I see..."
Masaomi: "I'm sorry I didn't tell you until now."
I bowed to her.
Masaomi: "She's the president's daughter, and the manager is the intermediary, so I couldn't refuse. Do you understand?'
"Of course."
Her face lit up with a smile.
"That's a great offer. There's no reason to refuse it."
Masaomi: "Huh?"
This time it was my turn to be surprised.
Masaomi: "Aren't you angry?"
"Why would I be angry?"
Masaomi: "N-no... that's fine. For some reason, I thought you would."
"That's not true. I'm praying that it all works out!"
Masaomi: "...I-I see, thank you."
After she left, I looked back at Kaname.
Masaomi: "She didn't seem to mind at all. I guess I wasted my time worrying about it."
Kaname: "Well, I don't think it's a question of profit or loss. But Masa-nii, was that, okay? "
Masaomi: "Yeah. I'm glad I was able to talk to her before tomorrow."
My worries were resolved, and I felt my heart lighten.
(Huh?)
--At that moment.
(What is this?)
I certainly felt a great sense of relief. But somewhere in my heart, something was bothering me.
That sense of discomfort hadn't existed until just now. However, I feel it clearly now.
(...What's wrong with me?)
.......
—The next day.
As I was walking along the road, which was becoming engulfed in dusk, my cell phone rang.
Masaomi: "Hello."
Kaname: "Masa-nii."
I heard Kaname's voice.
Masaomi: "Oh, Kaname. What's wrong?"
Kaname: "Masa-nii, where are you now?"
Masaomi: "I'm near the hotel. I just finished the omiai, I was thinking about going home now..."
Kaname: "Oh, wait a minute."
Kaname interrupts me.
Kaname: "I want to talk for a bit. Let's meet at Kichijoji station. How long will it take to get there?"
Masaomi: "Yeah... about 40 minutes."
Kaname: "Okay. See you later then."
Then the call went off.
(What was going on? Kaname's voice sounded very serious though...)
.......
Kaname took me to a bar located near Kichijoji station
It was quite spacious, even though it was underground. Perhaps because it was early in the day, there were few customers, and it was quiet.
Kaname: "How is it here?"
Masaomi: "Yeah, it looks quite relaxing."
At Kaname's urging, we sat at the edge of a large table. Kaname ordered a whiskey on the rocks, and I asked the bartender to make me a sweet cocktail.
Kaname: "So..."
After a quick toast, Kaname said.
Kaname: "So what happened in the end?"
Masaomi: "You mean the omiai?"
Kaname: "Yeah. I mean, what else would I ask about?"
Masaomi: "Yeah, that's right. She was a really nice person."
Kaname: "So... it’s decided."
Masaomi: "That's right. I had decided on the answer before we met."
Kaname: “Well, yeah, I get it."
Kaname tilts his glass.
Kaname: "It's just perfect. So, what are your plans?"
Masaomi: "Plans?"
When I asked him again, Kaname looked dumbfounded.
Kaname: "Well, I mean, engagement ceremony, wedding ceremony, etc..."
Masaomi: "W-wait a second. What are you talking about, Kaname?"
Kaname: "I mean, Masa-nii's wedding..."
Masaomi: "What?!?!?!"
I couldn't help but shout out loud.
Masaomi: "When did I say I was getting married?"
Kaname: "Well, I mean..."
Kaname was unusually at a loss for words.
Kaname: "You said it earlier, you've decided."
Masaomi: "Yeah, I planned to turn it down from the beginning."
Kaname: "What?!"
Kaname's mouth drops open.
Kaname: "Are you going to refuse?"
Masaomi: "Yeah. Because if I get married, I'll have to leave home, right? Then I won't be able to be by her side."
Kaname: "What... does that mean..."
Masaomi: "I made a promise."
I said. For some reason, it felt like my voice was stronger than usual.
Masaomi: "On the way back from our mother's wedding. I told her I'd be by her side forever. I can't break that promise."
Kaname: "She... are you talking about imoto-chan...?"
Masaomi: "Of course."
I nodded.
Masaomi: “Who else would it be?”
Kaname: "Wait a minute, Masa-nii. If you were going to refuse, you didn’t have to tell imoto-chan that you were going to an omiai, right?"
Masaomi: "But...I don't want to keep a secret from her."
Silence fell. Kaname stared at me for a while, then he let out a big sigh.
Kaname: "Ah... so that's how it is. Wow, I'm surprised. I see, I can't believe Masa-nii... haaa."
He sighs repeatedly.
Masaomi: "What's wrong, Kaname?"
Kaname: "No, don't worry about it. I was just surprised to find a rival in an unexpected place."
Masaomi: "Rival?"
I have no idea what he's talking about.
Kaname: "But...surprisingly, it's the ones who don't have awareness that are the toughest."
Just as Kaname was muttering these words to himself, I received a call on my cell phone.
Masaomi: "Hello."
"Oh, is this Masaomi-san?"
It was her call.
Masaomi: "Yeah. What's wrong?"
"Um... how was your day?"
Masaomi: "Yeah, it's over. I had to decline."
"What?!"
The tone of the voice that came from the phone changed.
"Oh, is that so? Sorry, I thought it was decided..."
(...Huh? Why did everyone think that?)
“So, I ended up baking a cake to celebrate...”
Masaomi: "Oh, that's right. It's fine, don't worry about it. Right, let's eat it together. I'll be home soon, so could you cut a slice for me?"
"Yeah, but..."
Masaomi: "It's okay. I'll eat it since you baked it."
I hung up the phone and turned to Kaname.
Masaomi: "Let’s go home. She baked a cake. Let's all eat it together."
Kaname: "...I'm fine."
Kaname said.
Kaname: "I'm going to drink a bit more here, so you go home first. You and imoto-chan can have the cake together."
Masaomi: "Just the two of you? Kaname, that's weird."
Kaname: "It's fine, just do it. I'll give it to you for today."
Kaname didn't say anything more but sighed again and sipped his glass.
I left the bar, wondering about Kaname's behavior.
When I went outside, a pleasant breeze was blowing.
(Ahh, that feels good.)
Come to think of it, the vague feeling of unease I had when I told her about the omiai has completely disappeared.
(Okay! Let's go home.)
I started walking through the streets of Kichijoji. She was waiting for me at home. Thinking about that made me walk faster.
Me inspira mucha confianza 🫠 trust issues where?
The pen is mightier than the sword. But something might be mightier than a pen.
If you wish, I would be with you. So show me your smile
If you give me a kiss, this boy would be happy again.
I want to let you know that I'm crazy about you too.
Blood is not important. What should be connected is mind.
Waving here and there among my brothers and toying with them, when on earth will you get satisfied? (Hikaru como te odio :D)
I need to say something. And yet I still love you.
Hello~ I want to ask if you, please, could re-upload the links to read the 13 Bros Collection manga stories... Those links have been broken for years and I want to read those so much :c Plese, if you could, I will be extremely thankful.
