So I was driving to get groceries and bagels....

And I was listening to NPR, and they were talking about the DNC and how the democratic party, and Obama in particular, have a problem in that some people see them as not being "adequately inclusive of faith". That's a direct quote because I was so bothered by that particular wording. It makes it sound as though these people think that religious people(especially christians) are a minorty that has been excluded from public discorse somehow. Firslty, no. Religious people(especially christians) are the majority in the united states and they have the institutional power. Secondly: SEPRATION. OF. CHRUCH. AND. STATE. Ok, I'm done. But at least I have nice fresh bagels from Bruggers to calm my godless atheist rage.

Sure there are inconsistencies in the Republican platform, especially when it comes to rape and abortion, but that doesn't mean the Republican party should tell the candidates what to do, right? Miss Eyre reflects on another year outrunning the reaper: or birthdays basically, I'm talking about birthdays

In the words of Sherlock Holmes: "If I have told you nothing...it is because there is nothing to tell." Which is my pretenious way of saying i haven't posted anything in a while. There has been stuff happening but not super interesting stuff. I've been interning at a small publishing company for the summer, which was interesting and somewhat surreal by turns; I have also been settling in to a new apartment in greensboro! My own apartment! Luxury upon luxury! My own kitchen, my own food and my own bathroom even! And the comfiest matress ever. It's lovely. And in two days I turn 21. Tonight I went to a show at a bar and I had to get the X's of shame on my hands, probably for the last time. Most people make a big deal about 21 because you can drink!! YEAHPARTYTIME! And yeah drinking is fun, and it'll be nice to go out for a drink but i got to do that, and do it fairly responisbly, for which I'm thankful, while I was in England. I would go out with friends to the local pub, drink a bit and then take the bus home, probably one of the nicer introductions to drinking that there is. I think really for me 21 means you're an adult. If you're like me it means you're going into your senior year of college and that thought makes you shudder. When you're 21 people start asking you what you're going to do when you graduate. And the real answer, the one that you never give, for me(and i hope for other young people who don't have their lives together) is something along the lines of "Holy shit I have no fucking idea, the future stands before me like a long scary road scattered with zombie roadkill possums." And so if you're like me you think about the future as infrequently as possible and treat it like one of the unfortunate things that you can't do anything about like the possibility of an asteroid hitting earth or the super volcano under yellowstone park exploding or taxes. And in the mean time you procrastinate. I know that this is not a good plan. But it't the one I'm going with right now. And two days from now the things that will be helping me procrastinate will be an awesome birthday present. Because apparently august 12th is the height of the Perseid meteor shower and as a girl who likes her outer space, thats pretty cool. Thanks universe. So Sunday night I look forward to sitting on my back porch with a bottle of wine purchased by ME, and a pair of binoculars and watching some fucking meteors.

Oh my god my birthday is one the 12th!!!!! The universe is giving me some awesome meteors for my bday. As a nerd, this is very cool. And it's my 21st! Watching a meteor shower while drunk is now on the bday checklist!
