heavily inspired by melanie martinez songs coupled with some of my favorite colors, this is kind of like a berry challenge. but like melanie, we are wielding dual colors. each gen has two colors that will bleed into the next. you can utilize dual colors in multitudes of ways. you can create berry sims or normal sims, color coordinate their clothes and makeup, change up their hair colors. doesn’t matter as long as you use the two colors given to signal each generation.

MISSIM Boxed Minimalism Table

Today I decided to teach myself how to start creating meshes for the Sims 4 custom content. I followed a tutorial by IllogicalSims on YouTube, and while it took approximately two hours, it finally came together.

It’s very rough, not the best looking piece and ran into a lot of issues not covered in the tutorial (not at the fault of anyone, just my software) but it’s finished. So is my patience! I tried to go with a steel table top and double box concrete stand but the boxes are so close together it looks more like a glitch than a design feature. Not So Berry Legacy Challenge

Do you like the rainbow? Do you like the idea of playing with berry Sims but hate berry Sims? Do you want to mess around with aspects of the game you’ve never used before? Boy, do I have the challenge for you!

Welcome to the Not So Berry Legacy Challenge, a ten generation legacy with a focus on bright colors and new experiences.

Basic Rules:

Each heir must represent the color of the generation (i.e. hair, makeup, clothing), but brightly colored skin is not necessary (these aren’t actually berry Sims, that’s the joke). Of course, this is optional but a big portion of the fun.

The colors of the spouses don’t matter as they aren’t part of the challenge. Unless otherwise stated you can do whatever you please with them.

Money cheats can be used, but not excessively. Suggestion: use freerealestate for your first home, but no cheats afterward.

You may live wherever you please unless something is specified in the rules of a generation.

Every generation is supposed to complete both the career and aspiration of the heir unless explicitly stated otherwise.

Keep the lifespan on normal.

Experiences Challenge || Gen 1: Aspen Maplebark

As Aspen got ready the next morning, a call vibrated through her phone.

“Hello?” she asked cautiously, eyeing the unknown caller I.D.

“Aspen, you’re coming to your cousin’s birthday party!” her mother shrieked on the other end, leaving Aspen’s ear ringing. “Get ready. Now. The driver will be around soon to collect you.” The line disconnected.

Not five minutes later, a discreet black car pulled around the bend. It didn’t take long for Aspen to arrive, though the cold bit through her clothes. Snow covered the street before her, homeless cats beckoning for attention by her feet. Before she could even think, Aspen was whisked indoors and shoved into a small kitchen. She recognised as her mother, tall and elegant, stood over her.

“Come home.” She only uttered two words before they were seated at the table, though it wasn’t long until the arguing began.

This was such a mistake to come here...

After completing her hunt for valuables to pawn, Aspen trudged home. The shower beckoned to her, body covered in dust from her trek across the desert. No wonder the plot she purchased was so cheap! The heat pulled sweat through her pores, acne breaking over her flushed cheeks.

As she pushed open the door to her tiny shack, a tear shed down her cheek as she watched water pour from the shower. A burst pipe?! She couldn’t believe her luck. Just as she completed fixing the shower for what seemed the millionth time, Cassandra knocked at her door.

“I thought you could use some cheering up!” she called. “Let’s go cloud gazing!”

Experiences Challenge || Gen 1

Aspen thought it would be so easy. Move out of home away from all the people who told her that she couldn’t play music to support herself. They’re wrong. All of them. What do they know about the life of a musician in the 21st century?

The taxi dropped her by the sidewalk of her new home, a small but healthy green plot of land in the desert. It wasn’t the most expensive town, but it was far enough away that her family couldn’t drag her home and marry her off as a trophy wife. Already 18, Aspen was finally old enough to live alone. Finally, she could make herself her own home.

But it’s not going to be easy...

Countless times her family covered up her klepto-tendencies but now they came in handy, as she sold her hoard of goods to purchase a block of cheap land in the desert. Now with little more than a tent and some basic items to her name, she is starting from scratch, hoping to get a foothold in the door with her music. Will she make it or will she succumb to the thrill of the steal to get by?

The Sims 4 Experiences Challenge

I am planning on undertaking the Sims 4 Experiences Challenge by Duchesty on Mod the Sims, and am simply linking this here for anyone who wants to try the challenge and/or if I lose the link while I’m playing. I’ll include the rules and the first generation guidelines below the cut for my own reference but do check out the challenge in full by Duchesty at the link. I do not own the challenge in any way, shape or form and will remove this post if it violates the TOU.

Try the challenge.

Rules:

Try to avoid using any cheats/mods that grant money or items, cheat needs, free upgrades/repairs, free Reward Store purchases, no bills, etc. Basically, if your Sim is supposed to work for it in game, they should do it the legit way. Cheats/Mods that just make the game function better or fix bugs/glitches are fine.

If your Sims move to a new lot/buy a new house, they must pay for that lot/house. If they can't afford the house, cheat it, then remove all their money except $2500.

Lifespan must be set to Normal, Aging must be turned on (with the exception of storytelling stuff, as needed). MCCC is allowed (recommended honestly for story progression).

If you don't own an expansion, skip that generation. Otherwise, play through the generations in order.

For every generation, you must complete the Aspiration and reach the top of the Career track, unless otherwise stated.

Each generation must have at least one child to be the heir for the next gen. You can choose any of your Sim's children as the heir. The other children kinda sorta don't matter (except in the Parenthood generation). Do whatever you want with them. Same goes with spouses.

Like the infamous Not So Berry Challenge (which loosely inspired me to make this challenge), your Sims have to fit a certain color theme for each generation, and also a specific clothing style. It's not 100% necessary, obviously, but it provides interesting goals in CAS and will encourage you to try out items you might not have used before. Plus, it adds a nice touch of cohesiveness to their story.

Generation One : Base Game : Yellow

You couldn’t wait to move out and get as far away from your podunk little hometown as soon as possible. Right when you turned 18, you worked up the nerve and finally did it, packing your things and taking the first step toward independence and fulfilling your dream of becoming a rock star! Unfortunately, you definitely burned some bridges along the way, and now… your family won’t even speak to you. At least you worked your butt off and managed to save up a nice chunk of change to make the move possible, but after buying your first bit of property… there’s not much left. Now you’re in a new, unfamiliar world with no money, no family, no friends, and no idea what to do next. Can you make it on your own and build yourself up from nothing, or will you get desperate and turn to a life of crime to make ends meet?

Requirements

:

Buy an empty lot, set money to $2,000, use as much of it as possible to get the basics (choose wisely!), then set money down to $0

Cannot get a job until at least $2,500 on hand

Max the Mischief, Handiness, and [any Instrument] skills

Earn >$500 from song royalties as you try to make your way

Eventually give up your dreams of stardom & join the Criminal career

Must steal 5 pieces of furniture worth at least $500 each to prove yourself to the mob boss

Have 3 Enemies and a Nemesis (not counting partner)

Have an "Enemies with Benefits" relationship, and eventually marry them

Cannot move-in partner/get married until at least Level 5 in career track
