How do we deal with those who have low self-esteem? Do not take personally whatever they say or show. It is better to ignore it if you could as well but just do not make it too obvious.
Q & A 2024:
When did you move to Thailand?
I moved before my 25th birthday.
What is your work in Thailand?
I am teaching Biology, Chemistry, General Science, and Independent Study.
Do you like your work?
Yes, I am able to discuss different chemical reactions, the universe, our planet, nature, wildlife, biodiversity, conservation and sustainability, among others.
Why did you move to Thailand?
I wanted to explore mainland Southeast Asia more and I thought Thailand was a good place to be based for work because it was cheaper and a travel hub.
When did you want to explore the rest of Southeast Asia?
I was already fascinated about the rest of Southeast Asia since I knew how to read especially Burma and Cambodia. I became more interested in Singapore after my father's trip. I started learning more about Thailand after the Asian tsunami. One of my goals was to visit Angkor Wat in Siem Reap, which I finally did in 2009 with three other ladies. I visited Yangon in 2014 alone.
What makes you stay in Thailand longer?
It has become my second home. I did not plan to stay over a decade, but I got married to someone from work. We were born a day apart on the same year and month so I guess that was interesting.
Do you plan to stay in Thailand for the rest of your life?
I thought about that before I had a child. However, Thai language is quite hard to learn and good international schools in Thailand are very expensive.
What is your advice to the younger generation of Filipinos who want to work in Thailand?
They need to know more about the country especially the culture. They should also ask themselves if working overseas is worth it. In terms of climate as well as flora and fauna, Thailand is not totally different from the Philippines. However, there are also things that are uniquely Thai. It is better to know what to do and what not to do in the kingdom. Just be mindful.
Be wiser in 2024. Please avoid dealing with things/those who do not deserve your time.
I have been sharing pictures I took to inspire others to explore this beautiful planet more. I do want to raise awareness that everything is interconnected, and the things humans do to upset the intricate balance of nature would backfire on us. Every little thing matters. ♡
Early morning walk in East Railay, Krabi
The dense roots of mangroves can protect the shoreline from erosion and strong waves.
Early morning walk near the Mekong River
The hydropower dams provide a source of energy that does not rely on fossil fuels, but they affect the ecosystem and livelihoods of millions relying on the Mekong River. It is the second most biodiverse river in the world. It is the longest river in Southeast Asia, which starts from the Tibetan Plateu to Vietnam.

Have you seen your social media feed? 2023 is indeed the year of celebrity breakups back in the homeland. They are trending that they occupy my newsfeed for days, even weeks.
It is sad when a couple is breaking up, but it is good to see online how these celebrities remain respectful of each other, even saying thank you for the good times. At least, right?
I do believe that when two people decide to go on separate ways after years of being together, it is best to overcome being bitter and view it as another learning experience.
There are times that people just need some time apart. When you both accept what is happening, it is not hard to remain kind and respectful. Yes, it is easier said than done. However, it is possible if you see it as an opportunity to introspect on what went wrong. Even if you do not end up getting back together, at least you have learned and have become a better version of you. ♡
If your bond proves to be stronger than anything else, getting back together is not impossible. Love covers mistakes and flaws. It endures the test of time. Love is eternal.
Mekong River 📷: Mukdahan, Thailand
Catch The Mekong River with Sue Perkins on Netflix until December 23, 2023. There are 4 episodes showing her amazing journey from Vietnam to the Tibetan Plateau. The Mekong River is the longest river in Southeast Asia.
Be happy while it lasts. When you are not mindful of your actions and hurt others in the process, joy is short-lived.
Foodie Side: Food Scene in Ao Nang, Krabi
"For the lips of the adulterous woman drip honey, and her speech is smoother than oil; but in the end she is bitter as gall, sharp as a double-edged sword. Her feet go down to death; her steps lead straight to the grave. She gives no thought to the way of life; her paths wander aimlessly, but she does not know it." Proverbs 5:3-6
Foodie Side: Breakfast in Railay Beach
Desperate people do desperate things. From known people in society to ordinary beings, those who need attention and validation have done things against basic values, dignity, and morality. Oh please! Such things push people away even more. Never allow ourselves to be so desperate that we end up settling for less than what we deserve. Do not expect others to respect us if we do not have self-respect. Let us live a mindful life and acknowledge the ripples of each step we take every day. It all starts with us.

I just watched a show about longevity in the so-called Blue Zones. These are areas in the world where people usually live longer than others. Below are common denominators:
They eat wisely.
They move naturally.
They have the right outlook.
They know how to connect.
Connection is very crucial because 50% of the longevity formula is the fact that they put their family first. They nurture the relationship. Being able to avoid constant and chronic stress is also important. Worrying can do nothing for us. Real rest means contentment. Choosing what to eat and eating in moderation are very important. Normal activities like walking are good. Having a purpose is a must.
Live to 100 (Secrets of the Blue Zones) is available on Netflix. I like it, although there are a few things I think that do not apply to everyone. Others can make us happy, but joy should start from deep within.
