March 13, 2026 - Smoke rises over Dubai after an Iranian drone strike targeted the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), one of the UAE’s key business hubs.

More than 1,700 missiles and drones have been launched toward the UAE since the Israeli–US attacks on Iran began, according to the country’s defence minister. Commenting on Iran’s willingness to strike US-linked military and logistical bases across the Arab Gulf, US President Trump said it had been "one of his biggest surprises of the war."

According to several sources, the UAE is now witnessing a significant outflow of expatriates, many of whom say Dubai "no longer feels safe or attractive." The growing departure of foreign residents is seen as alarming for the city, where expatriates make up nearly 90% of the population.

Authorities in the UAE have also punished tourists for filming missile impact sites in the city. On Monday, a British tourist has been charged for posting videos online and faces up to two years in jail. [video]

Sick and tired of seeing expats paint such a rosy picture of their life in Japan and talking about how they don't care about the rise in xenophobia and anti-immigrant policies because they are not being affected by it ("I know that all these policies are not exactly targeted to me per se or to my nationality...let's not pretend we don't know who exactly these policies are created for" 😉). And saying, "whatever supposed to happened will happen" 🤷🏻‍♀️.

Like girly pop, you might not be the target now, but one day, you will be. And you don't feel scared right now because of the privileges you have. You don't have family in Japan you might be separated from, you have a relatively comfy life and family to go back home to should you get deported, and these policies are mostly affecting Chinese migrants. But think about the migrants who can't afford to not be bothered??

What's worse is seeing the comments section applauding these expats for their apathy, and justifying Japan's xenophobic policies ("because of tourists' bad behaviour").

If any usamerican needs to fly away from the USA because you can't stand Trump anymore and ICE is making you uncomfortable, please put Argentina on your list of countries not to visit because we WILL kick you in the gut the moment you step in the airport.

You've had this coming for years, thinking the leopards wouldn't eat your face, and never felt any empathy for the people in 3rd world countries whose head you stepped on to live in privilege nor the victims of hunger, poverty and political turmoil the USA poisoned us with for decades.

We don't feel empathy for you. We don't want you here.

No one wants to hear about the kid who paralyzed his own brother, or the driver who fell asleep at the wheel, or the pilots that took down that cable car. But I want to know about the perpetrators.
