"Grief is love's souvenir. It's our proof that we once loved. Grief is the receipt we wave in the air that says to the world: Look! Love was once mine. I love well. Here is my proof that I paid the price."
– Glennon Doyle Melton, Love Warrior
The Strong One.
They never asked if it was heavy;
The weight I carry on my back.
Praised for my strength and resilience,
They ignore my foundation's cracks.
I never desired to be strong.
I only wanted to be safe.
Instead of seeking comfort,
I had to learn how to be brave.
They never asked if I was tired,
If my soul was barely hanging on.
It was my perseverance they admired,
Bloodied and bruised, I carried on.
They never noticed I was hurting.
My scars and wounds I never showed.
My head I held high, I took it in stride,
Bracing myself for every blow.
They never asked if I could carry more
When they brought their troubles to me.
They never asked if it weighed me down
When I lifted theirs to help them breathe.
When you are a pillar of strength,
You learn to carry your burdens alone.
No one will notice your plate is full,
When passing theirs for you to hold.

"My soul flowers in bloom like a thousand roses posing as stars, with sunlight filtering through the leaves of my heart.. soft branches branching like tarantulas at the heart of me, some love shaped like stardust is what I bring."
This love grows within me like flowers in bloom - eUë
"I go so far as to think you own the universe.
I will bring you happy flowers from the mountains, bluebells,
dark hazels, and rustic baskets of kisses.
I want to do with you what spring does with the cherry trees."
~Pablo Neruda, Twenty Love Poems and a Song of Despair
There is no greater power than that of the sun, the moon, and a woman who knows her worth.

“be there for me, but give me the freedom to be there for myself.”

And once the storm is over, you won’t remember how you made it through, how you managed to survive. You won’t even be sure, whether the storm is really over. But one thing is certain. When you come out of the storm, you won’t be the same person who walked in. That’s what this storm’s all about.
