SEASON 2, EPISODE 1 | A SCANDAL IN BELGRAVIA
Stay strong my Molly!
How have I never seen this before? And what was the source for these images? I need to know!!!
Molly-centric Ship Of Your Choice Prompt, Molly Hooper & Mary Morstan
University!AU, "I can’t even satisfy a man properly!" Molly had decided to stay a virgin until she got married at a very young age, and she has fiercely stuck to that decision. However, her fiance Tom was not as supportive of that decision as she would have liked, and after he tries yet again to get her to sleep with him she gets fed up and calls off the engagement. However, after much thought, Molly decides she wants to rid herself of her virginity since that was a major cause of the dissolution of her relationship with her ex. When her friend Mary suggests she knows the perfect person, things don't go quite according to any sort of plan she may have had in her head…but it has a pleasantly surprising result nonetheless.
Let’s see how this goes:
Molly curled deeper into the sofa cushions, clutching the oversized mug Mary had thrust into her hands the moment she arrived. It was more hot chocolate than tea: whipped cream teetering precariously over the rim, a sprinkle of cinnamon for good measure. Comfort in liquid form.
Mary, cross-legged on the opposite chair, tilted her head. “So, Tom’s an arse.”
Molly winced. “He’s not… well, not completely. He just…” Her voice faltered. “He never really respected my decision. And now it’s over because of it.”
Mary’s expression softened, but only for a beat. “Then good riddance. You deserve someone who actually listens.”
“I just…” Molly bit her lip, fingers tightening on the mug. “I can’t even satisfy a man properly. That’s what it comes down to. He wanted…he needed…something I couldn’t give him. And maybe I’m broken for holding on so tightly to something that doesn’t even matter anymore.”
Mary leaned forward, eyes sharp. “Stop. You’re not broken. You made a choice, and he couldn’t handle it. That’s on him.”
“But what if the next one can’t handle it either?” Molly whispered. “What if this keeps happening?”
Silence stretched between them, broken only by the faint buzz of traffic outside the flat. Then Mary’s lips quirked, the look of someone about to say something outrageous.
“What if,” she began slowly, “you just… stopped waiting?”
Molly blinked. “What?”
“You’ve done the noble-virgin act. Gold star for willpower. But if you think it’s holding you back, then maybe it’s time to cash in your v-card and move on.”
Heat rushed to Molly’s cheeks. “Mary!”
Mary’s grin widened. “What? It’s practical. Find someone safe, someone who won’t make it a big deal, get it over with. Then no more pressure, no more shadow hanging over your love life.”
Molly buried her face in her hands. “I can’t believe we’re having this conversation.”
“Oh, believe it.” Mary sipped her tea with exaggerated calm. Then she added, “And as it happens, I know just the man.”
Molly’s head snapped up. “No. Absolutely not.”
“You don’t even know who I’m thinking of yet!” Mary laughed.
“I don’t care. If you’re suggesting some random bloke from one of your parties…”
“Not random.” Mary’s grin turned sly. “John’s friend. Sherlock Holmes.
Molly froze, mug halfway to her lips. “You can’t be serious.”
“Oh, I’m dead serious. Genius chemist, never touches booze, terrifyingly honest. Doesn’t do relationships, which means no messy strings. He’s basically tailor-made for this little… project.”
Molly’s stomach flipped. Sherlock Holmes: the brilliant, insufferable boy in her chemistry lectures, all cheekbones and condescension, who treated professors like minor inconveniences. He was the last person she should even consider.
And yet…
Her traitorous mind whispered the truth: she had noticed him. More than once.
Mary was watching her closely, that knowing spark in her eyes. “Just think about it. Worst case, you prove to yourself it’s not such a big deal. Best case…” She shrugged, mischievous. “Well. Who knows?”
Molly groaned, pressing the mug against her burning face. “This is a terrible idea.”
“Which means,” Mary said brightly, “it’s probably the best one.”

10 years ago I started writing this Sherlolly fic. Today I posted the final chapter. I am so thankful for those who have read it. I really do hope you enjoy the ending.
Sherlolly Fic Update : A most Unsuitable Passtime for a Lady
So, I've been updating!
Here's chapter 16, where in the present, Sherlock is on the case of the murder of Molly's husband. Whereas, in the past, Sherlock and Molly's relationship has developed into more than a simple work partnership.
Here's chapter 17, where in the present, John is confused about how well Sherlock is taking to his new neighbours - Molly and her son. Whereas in the past, Sherlock and Molly's domestic bliss is about to be interrupted.
Here's chapter 18, where in the present, I shamelessly borrow a scene from the original Milverton story from ACD canon, but with my own twist. Whereas in the past there is angst, lots of angst.
And then, there are three more chapters I posted today because at each chapter-break, there was so much angst that I felt guilty leaving you all hanging.
So we're at 21 chapters at this point, with a few more to go.
Thanks again for all who are reading along. Especially @mizjoely - your fics were the first I ever read in the fandom, your tumblr was the first I followed. It means so much to me that you're enjoying my fic!

I am always blown away by the love of the Sherlolly community. No matter how long I may be away, I am always welcomed back so warmly.
Thank you so much to everyone who showed me love and shared encouragement about my fic update yesterday. I was starting to think that I was one of the few of us left, but now I see that the community is still alive, still keen for more Sherlolly goodness.
And so here's the second chapter in as many days. I hope you enjoy.
Chapter 14 - A Most Unsuitable Pastime for a Lady
So, I started this fic 10 years ago! I was bitten by a plot bunny when the teaser for the Abomminable Bride Christmas special was released. I started writing a version of Sherlock and Molly in the Victorian Era and surmised that Molly would have to masquerade as a man to be "our" Molly, predicting exactly how Moffitiss managed to write her into the episode.
This fic never left me. And I'm happy to say I am 99% complete. Each chapter between now and the end is written, just in need of some editing before posting.
So here's the deal, if there's anyone out there still reading this fic, all you need to do is post a comment and I will post the next chapter for you.
And if there isn't anyone else reading this fic, that's ok too. I've enjoyed seeing where this story ended up -- even if it's taken me a decade of stop-start (mostly stop!) writing to get there!
Sherlolly prompt: In HLV Sherlock managed to convince John to at least hear Mary out. What if a now wiser John decided to return the favor in a very similar way post TFP? Convince Molly that Sherlock truly meant those three words? 👀
Excellent idea. I'm still not up to actually taking prompts, so I'm sharing this and hoping someone feels like tackling it!
“What is he?” John asked Molly while Sherlock still couldn’t meet her eyes.
“An arrogant arse,” she said.
And John couldn’t help but agree. But that wouldn’t help anyone at the moment.
The two broken, bruised and battered men were stood at the door to Molly’s safe house. Molly hadn’t yet granted them entrance. John knew all he needed was to get the two in the one room.
“What is he, Molly?” John asked again.
“Don’t you think I’ve had enough games for one day?” Molly answered John’s questions with piercing eyes directed at Sherlock.
“Look at him, Molly. What is he?”
“The man who has manipulated me since the day we met.”
The words hit Sherlock like a slap.
“What is he? Really look.”
“A man who sees all of us with the compassion of a kid with a magnifying glass burning ants in the sun.”
“You’re not looking, Molly” John persisted.
Exhaling with a huff, John watched Molly examine Sherlock’s face with the keen eye he’d seen her use time and time again in the lab.
“He’s tired.” She reported.
“And?” John asked.
“He’s had a bad day.” She added.
John knew that Molly had seen Sherlock at his worst.
“One more thing,” John took a gamble. “Look closer.”
Molly met Sherlock’s eyes.
John smiled. He knew the moment she saw it.
Sherlock knew too.
“I can’t say it,” Molly, close to tears, croaked out.
“Go on,” John urged Sherlock to do what Molly couldn’t. “Tell her what you are.”
“I’m in love with you.” Sherlock said.
Job done. John knew it was his time to leave.
For those interested in Loo’s comment about this dress being worn in a deleted scene, it’s a short one in the shooting script. This is it:
For @sherlollyappreciationweek prompt for day 1 - “It wasn’t working for me.”
Sherlock is (not so secretly) pleased to find out that Tom is out of the picture.
Things I’d love to see in a new season of Sherlock
(To be honest, I’d take a one-off special at this point! Anything!)
One day, I might turn this into a fic - but in the meantime, here are my dreams for how the next episodes of Sherlock might go. (And note my eternal optimism that there *will* be more episodes one day!)
I want to see Molly as a natural part of the narrative, she doesn’t have to take over, she doesn’t need to be a huge part, I just want her there. (Part of that is my reaction to how small a role she was given in s4 compared to s3!!).
But what if Mrs Hudson requested in her will that the whole of 221 be left to Molly. Why? Because she knows that Molly is the only other woman Sherlock would let look after him, the only one he listens to, the only one he trusts.
She’s still working at Bart’s, but she’s also there, living in Mrs H’s flat.
Sherlock could make a few cracks about “the new landlady” to John before it’s revealed to us that’s it’s Molly.
“No more drugs for me, John. The new landlady wouldn’t allow it.”
“You’ll notice there are no more bullet holes in the walls. Request of the new landlady.”
“I’m even eating during cases now. The new landlady didn’t buy my argument that digesting slows me down.”
We get this picture of a very stern, harsh mistress.
“Oh. Here she comes now.” Sherlock warns
And it’s Molly.
For Molly’s part, she’s moved on with her life. She has twins. If we do the math we can work out they were probably conceived within a few months of The Final Problem.
There’s enough ambiguity to keep everyone happy. It’s never spelled out.
Maybe it was a one-night stand or a relationship that failed and the father isn’t in the picture?
Maybe she got an anonymous sperm donor?
Maybe she asked Sherlock to be the sperm donor?
Or maybe the sperm was donated “recreationally”?
Fans can debate it over and over. There’s enough deniability for the J*hnL*ckers to be happy and plenty of fodder for Sherlolly fans to write countless fics over.
Anyway... some thoughts.
If anything, I just want more episodes! Please!
