Morph Characterization ramble for me good-luck everybody else reading

So its really no secret that i do in fact play favorites when it comes to which X men I like. That fav being morph my goat not because of any feats or any particularly good writing more so the ideas that i see shown. (I'm going to be going off the exiles version of they backstory for child hood but most this discussion will be on TAS / 97 so pick and choose where you agree.) Morph strikes me as a Masc leaning nonbinary in a he they direction. I also think that having a mutation that is Shapeshifting leads you to being very vain but also self loathing place having to constantly become different people and memorize their features what makes THEM special. I also think that even among mutants the white form for them is icky (like uncanny valley shit) and i adore that with every fiber of my being. I will always crave more body horror in my life using queer characters becoming or being the horrific one. We see that so much of the story they get is self expression and acceptance which is what the X-men outside of cool robot fights is also about. Making them a easy fit to the team despite not having a long history (unless you assume there was a changeling arc for morph i'd like that personally tbh). So new hurdle how do you write a self acceptance that's isolated as morphs without repeating sinister nachos ? That's where the freaky ass morph idea comes into play. I think its genuinely disgusting to watch them shift and contort bones breaking flesh separating falling off the bone kind of ick. I think this is such an isolating thing to have your power be become others for some gain it makes sense why we see morph ball up so often emotionally. In exiles they are this "happy" go lucky nothing will stop the jest but when it cracks it shatters. In 97 we see this too not to the level i wanted but yes better. I think with the introduction of the grotesque super uncanny valley shit this makes way more sense. I also think that this would be a very easy way to push morph and wolverine closer this shared idea of everyone sees me as a monster. They go by it from different angles tho which is another nice pull together opposites attract. The two sides of the coin thing only being amplified after sinister. Morph was abducted and experimented on like Logan. This has changed them permanently in ways they could never fully know. All because others saw them as less then or a monster. This is why that Evil morph design is so special to me if we take a character who wants to be accepted so badly ,gets that acceptance then it is immediately stripped away. How do they brake. Because we absolutely know that they will ,anyone would. Well I think that evil morph has wild proportions Where a regular human form was ugly down trotted not thinking too high of themself there was an attempt at appearance. A morph that has shed all wants of being better discards any attempt at appearances being comfortable for others. Since morph cannon to my knowledge has a photographic memory paired with the shape shifting they know everything that should happen in human anatomy. I think this is disregarded I think the joints move incorrectly eyes too glassy limbs too long teeth shoved in at uncomfortable unusable angles maybe they move shifting where they sit in the gums as they talk. Lungs that weren't fully formed so they wheeze spewing fluids a husk of what should be. I think this morph is as uncanny and monster as they feel i think that body horror element better explains why they are so self isolating too. Again I think that having a shapeshifting mutation leads you to be vain but also self loathing since appearances are so much of what you have. This makes that white form have new deeper meaning ,to be able to let go of that baggage to grow past where Logan emotionally stays driving a possible new wedge between them maybe. Do i think marvel will go this direction? Absolutely fuck no bro was made for a show marketed to snot nosed toddlers but a man can want. Or hardcore project onto a fav that's also suuuuper fun love doing that tbh.

Ahhh I had SO MUCH FUN WITH THIS PIECE!! I found a neat reference on Pinterest (because I'm trying to overcome that false mentality/fear that using a reference is cheating when in reality it's not because we as artists learn by looking at thing, by observation, by using references) so after putting and scaling my reference on my canvas, I played around a bit with the free transform tool to give it a bit of perspective, then I duplicated it and flipped it and shrinked it a bit because I am a firm short king Logan believer and after that I started my sketch on a new layer, I did some changes to the legs, like tilting Wade's leg further away and to the hands as well and then I went All out on the background making a colorful explotion of things until I was happy with it, then added the base colors and not gonna lie I was terrified of rendering this but ultimately I think I ended up with a piece that I genuinely love and am proud of, which is a nice feeling ya know, being proud of your work?? This mayyyybe took me like 5 or 6 hours to make, separated into two days of working on it 3 hours. I hope you guys love this drawing as much as I do 💖 and what's most important, is that I had genuine fun while making it, which is what I love the most about making art: having fun with it.
