Haven 2x11 Business as Usual (2011) + Crocker Curse
Audrey Parker vs doors 2x11 Business as Usual
Stu Pierce: You’re Audrey Parker.
Haven parallels: Overlay origins (1x7 Sketchy; 2x11 Business as Usual; 3x9 Sarah; 4x2 Survivors)
Audrey Parker: Ohio
Lucy Ripley: less than an hour from Haven, Maine (still in Maine? neighboring state? Portland, Maine?)
Sarah Vernon: Washington, D.C.
Lexie DeWitt: Tuscon, Arizona
Duke Crocker, 5.18 - Wild Card
Haven DVD Commentaries: 5.18 - Wild Card
Commentary with Brian Millikin and Nick Parker, co-writers for the episode
I love these guys, they have so much to say …
BM: So this was a tricky one. When we wound up getting assigned it, we were like; Oh boy. There was so much exposition to get in. And this was always going to be a bit of a turning point in the season. We knew that 5.14 would set up the shroud, and 15 and 16 would be living in Haven with the shroud and seeing how tough life was. And then 17 was always going to be a stand-alone episode, it was shot by itself. Lucas Bryant directed it and it was great. And that was more about Audrey and Nathan - a bit of a pause to deal with them. But then we’ve got 18 and 19 that were shot together, and we knew that these would be the two episodes to really launch us into the Croatoan story for the rest of the season.

From the DVD commentary, with writers Brian Millikin and Nick Parker:
BM: This was a big moment for us, we had kind of written ourselves into a corner, but then we realised; Well what if we just have Nathan learn the rules of Tarot card readings and start a new reading entirely? And so many of the things that we end up doing (maybe it’s just you and me?) with Nathan come down to - in a weird way, Nathan’s super power is his faith, and his hope. And so, this is just kind of what he does. And he really saves the day. NP: We try to give Nathan as many of those ‘save the day’ moments as possible. BM: Absolutely. Love Nathan. NP: He’s great. BM: Huge Nathan fans. We ship Nathan here. NP: Or ship Lucas Bryant. I love that guy to death. BM: That’s true. It’s a Nathan-Lucas thing. But it’s true - it seems deceptively simple, but sometimes you just have to ask the right question. NP: And luckily we had Nathan in this scene, because he’s the only one who can really ask that question. BM: Yeah, I mean we’d had much more complicated, involved and strange ways out of this, but this was the simplest and I think wound up being the best version of it.

so what exactly is Haven
for starters, haven is a tv show that was on syfy from 2010 to 2015 (right around the time of eureka and warehouse 13)
it’s one of those shows set in a small town but there’s magic (think once upon a time or eureka) (you know what kind of show I mean, there’s too many mysteries, a lot of jokes, the same tropes used over and over)
(also they say small town all the time but they also claim to have a population of 25,000??? like this is set in new england, that’s a big city, my friends)
(god the scenery is beautiful)
the magic in this is every 27 years, the Troubles come, which are basically curses (and some are not terrible and some are very sad and some are terrifying) (some of them are super interesting and some are just infuriating)
it’s very loosely based on a stephen king novella (so the show is packed full of references to his books rip)
it follows audrey parker, fbi agent, who becomes fascinated with how weird this town is and find she is tied to an old mystery of the town, the murder of the colorado kid
(my girlfriend is in love with her)
her partner is nathan wuornos, whose Trouble is he can’t feel anything. which means he doesn’t feel pain but he does still get hurt (they are both terrible cops, so much propaganda)
(my sister was in love with him)
other main character is nathan’s … .well, the writers say they have a complicated history and I interpret that as exes with unresolved feelings
his name is duke crocker and he is a pirate smuggler and he helps out audrey and nathan far more than he cares to admit
(everyone else is in love with him)
anyways they are all in love
the storylines get more convoluted as the show progresses (which may or may not be your thing)
it’s very chaotic and rich with mistreated characters
there is quite a bit of queerbaiting on the show and a lot of fridging and the three reoccurring black characters are treated terribly (the writers are incapable of writing women or poc)
it’s creepy and weird and there’s very little continuity throughout the show
all that being said, it is highly addictive and I watched the first four seasons twice in two weeks
watch at your own risk and come join the fandom if you do. we have lots of polyamorous fanfic!!!
Haven 2x10 Who What Where W*ndigo (2011)
Nathan Wuornos: So you make a date with the Rev? Is this just about Evi?
Duke Crocker: Evi’s dead. And for the first time, I am seeing things clearly.
Lizzie Hendrickson ( Gabrielle Trudel) Haven
She’s a Seahawks fan.
Haven 2x9 Lockdown (Original air date September 9th, 2011) Written by Nora Zuckerman & Lilla Zuckerman Directed by Jason Priestley
I am still convinced that Nathan Wuornos and Duke Crocker are in love and have always been in love. They were and could have been in a relationship. I am re-watching Haven starting at season 2 and I’ve got to the episode Lockdown. You know that scene where Duke comes to tell Nathan that Evi is betraying them all? Why do they talk so close?
There is also something about that scene which solidified the fact that Duke will choose Nathan (and eventually Audrey). Nathan will also do the same no matter what happens, it comes down to my ot3 man. I could rewatch this ten years down the road and still scream about how close they shot that hallway scene. Or in a previous episode with this:
I love the acting/writing choice to have Nathan find certain people he continues to go out of his way to touch even if he can’t feel it. Why slightly touch his face then comment on how good looking the other guy is like a teasing thing? Also also why did Eric play Duke so bashful at the good looking guy comment. Basically we can assume, as all of space can already see, Nathan and Duke were in a relationship. They could both like men or they were each other’s one and only same sex experience that turned into a long term relationship. Then of course down the road we put Audrey in the middle but that doesn’t change a damn thing.
Look at them:
I mean it’s obvious right? It couldn’t be one big joke via the writers and actors. It seems so god damn legitimate to think that Nathan and Duke had a friendship, that escalated probably causing more of the on and off shit they do, but then they both fall in love with Audrey too. That to me is all good because this ot3 will always have my heart. Even if the ending wasn’t a
Nathan Wuornos + senses 3. Sight (Haven 1x7 Sketchy; 1x8 Ain’t No Sunshine; 2x5 Roots; 3x9 Sarah; 4x5 The New Girl; 5x1 See No Evil; 5x2 Speak No Evil; 5x26 Forever)
Audrey Parker: So because you can’t feel, all your other senses like sight, they’re elevated.
Nathan Wuornos: Yep.
–
Jess Minion: Look at me this time. Don’t stop looking at me.
You know what I’m talkin about!
Audrey Parker (Emily Rose) Haven 5x2 Speak No Evil (2014)
Nathan Wuornos: Goodbye, Parker.
Audrey Parker: Nathan. Â
Nathan: Audrey.Â
Audrey: Yes. I’m still here. But It feels– It feels like she’s crush she’s crushing me. Please, I’m– I’m still– I’m still here. I’m still–
