Who would have guessed that such a small structure could have so many muscles. Considering the work our hands do daily it is like an awesome machine. Well engineered by our creator!

Underneath every grip of a racket or bat, every toss of a ball  these bones hold our hands and give them shape as well as form the base for skeletal muscles, tendons and nerves to attach, intertwine and weave it way around to create suttle or crisp movements

Life cycle of a butterfly

Butterflies have four stages of metamorphosis.

 Stage 1- Eggs 

Adult butterfly lays eggs  on the leaves of plants

Stage 2- Caterpillar or larvae 

Young caterpillars feed on the leaves of the plant until they grow and their eating slows

Stage 3 - The chrysalis or pupa

The larger more mature caterpillar is slowly forming a letter “J” as a protective cocoon forms around it protecting its very soft outer form, preparing it for the final stage of change. 

Stage 4- The Adult Butterfly

The adult butterfly emerges with its beautifully coloured wings. They are very soft and the butterfly flutters the wings to allow for fluid to be transferred to it forming its rigid structure allowing for flight.

Now that you know the various stages of the life cycle of a butterfly find in your natural environment, take pictures of either their eggs, larvae, pupa or adult stage post to this blog as a comment.
