DIY Natural Hair Color Guide

Hello brunettes! You can now get a gorgeous hair color at home with natural hair dye. 

Being a bit of a hair snob, I only used to color my hair at fancy salons like Aveda (they are the most natural) or not at all. But with my busier-than-ever work schedule, I couldn't make time for the appointment and also wanted to rather spend the $$$ on a cute new dress and hair dye. Hair coloring at New York salons can be really expensive. 

I had noticed NATURCOLOR At-Home Natural Hair Dye at Whole Foods (http://www.naturcolor.com/) and finally dared to make the leap to trying to do this on my own, at home. James Bond Girl Look Tutorial with Tarte Carried Away Collector's Set from Sephora - Holiday 2012

James Bond Girls always look sexy and sophisticated and the Tarte Holiday 2012 Set "Carried Away" is the perfect tool to get the grey smoky eyes and nude lips with eco-friendly and cruelty-free makeup. My hair looks like Bond Girl Camille's from Quantum of Solace, but this makeup works well if you have long hair and want to resemble the new Bond girl from Skyfall too! 

Here are the steps:  1. Add tinted moisturizer (I used Hourglass, see my review here: ) 2. Apply the blush from the set in a half moon shape - this way you don't get blush lines.  3. For eyes, first apply the lightest shade on the inner corners of your eyes and up to the browbone.  4. Take the bronze color and apply it to all over the moving part of the eyelid. If you have hooded eyes or Asian eyes (little bit like me), add the eyeshadow HIGHER than your moving eyelid, so it shows.  5. Smudge the dark gray color along the lash line and blend it upwards.  6. With the same dark grey shade, line under the eye.  7. The shimmery soft black shade is a great liner. Wet the eyeliner brush and create a strong line along the upper lashline.  8. To keep the look soft and smoky, add some of the shimmery black to the eyeshadow brush and blend along the lashline.  9. Next, add an eye brightener to bring all the attention to where it should be.  10. Set the eye brightner with a light powder. Use a smaller brush! I just had my big powder brush on this trip.  11. For a final touch, add lots and lots of mascara and a few coats of nude lipgloss! And you are ready for Mr. Bond!  With love from Mexico, Annabella

Eco Jeans for Fall

I never wear jeans in the summer (too hot!), but absolutely love them in the fall. I have one fantastic pair of ankle length dark wash Levis with white sticking (casual) and one pair of high waisted dark wash Prairie Underground jeans with two zippers at the front (fancy and cool, but the zippers come undone if I sit down for too long or eat a full dinner so they dont work for dinner parties:-)

Time to find a few new pairs. My favorites are in dark green or wine red or a dark blue, romantic vintage wash. See the slideshow below for my favorites. Let me know what your must-haves are!

The last two years I lived in Finland (until I was 19), I used to shiver in wintertime repeating a mantra: “I’ll soon live in Los Angeles, I will soon live in sunshine!” –I had decided not to invest in warm clothes anymore. 

Even now that I have made New York my home instead of Los Angeles (where I did live for six years), I still tend to skip on proper fall and winter wear.  It is especially challenging when you want to find stylish eco-friendly and vegan pieces to keep you warm. As my signature bag, I have been carrying a stunning black Stella McCartney tote for the last several seasons during which I have also acquired a collection of Matt & Nat purses and clutches. Thinking of a smaller signature bag for this season, I’m head over heels with this first-ever vegan and eco-friendly Bottega Veneta. The bag will be available in November (a few hit the stores during Fashion's Night Out), so there's a bit of time to save up!
