honestly the new voice of nancy is... better? like it doesn’t hold the nostalgia that lani’s voice has and it makes the game feel different but it just sounds so much more realistic and accurate for her age

it’s both better than i expected and worse than i expected at the same time. i’m so sad that midnight in salem was the game they decided to experiment with, because it could have been SO BEAUTIFUL with the old engine. and i honestly love the characters.

Nancy Drew: The Ghost Dogs of Moon Lake (2018) - As a feature film

I thought I’d jump on the bandwagon and share my review/thoughts! I was actually excited for the show, so I think I started off a lot more optimistically than most people. 

TLDR: It was pretty much what I expected from the CW, and I’m hopeful that the second episode will be better! 

Firstly: I’m actually kind of pissed at the amount of people who are criticizing Nancy having sex? Like? It’s fine. She’s a young woman, if she wants to have sex then why not? She can have sex and still be smart, ambitious, courageous, flawed, etc. Basically, all the things we love about Nancy Drew. 

That being said, introducing us to “current day” Nancy via cringe-worthy sex scene was Not Ideal.

Nancy’s internal monologue was seriously grating after a while. (”the darkness found me” was particularly terrible)

But I love that we got sassy Nancy! 

I checked out a bit in the middle because I got bored? But I think that’s a hazard of a pilot episode -- there’s always a lot of exposition. 

I love Bess!!! Her ex-felon lines were very cute. 

Honestly, I love all of the girls. And when they started working together? *chef’s kiss*

The seance scene was SO GOOD. 

Love all of the maritime lore.

No one thinks Ned/Nick did it, right? I’m not alone in that? The whole time Nancy was freaking out, I was just like: he didn’t do it, chill. 

Ace is so unnecessary. 

I was very distracted because I'm pretty sure they’re reusing sets from The Secret Circle - which I loved. Especially The Claw and Nancy’s house.

Final thoughts: it was cringey and cute, which is to be expected of a CW show. There are some things to iron out before it’s even a guilty pleasure, but I’m hopeful! I loved the girls and their tentative friendship.

How many Nancy Drew blogs are there?

So I’ve always wondered how many blogs there are. Some say around 200 but it’s hard to tell. Yes I know this has been done before, but REBLOG if you have a Nancy Drew blog. PLEASE DO NOT LIKE THIS POST. I know this sounds harsh, but it will change the numbers. I’m pretty sure I’m following every blog out there, but there’s always new ones popping up.
