Lily shrugged, “By all means, go ahead and say it, I won’t care much.” Lily looked at her with a skeptical look but eventually smiled, “Important we stay together?” She questioned with a slight laugh “We’re not even together.” She shook her head.
“Well, she’s not a witch, but she rhymes with on, doesn’t she?” she smiled. “Oh... right. Got a little ahead of myself,” she giggled. “Ignore me, carry on.”
While Rod didn’t believe in the notion of fate nor the ability to know it, a small shiver went down his spine. Frowning a little, Rod wasn’t sure if he wanted to ask but found himself doing so, anyway. “What do you mean?”
Sybill smiled and tilted her head innocently. “Maybe nothing...” she smirked, glad to have the upper hand once again. She didn’t know the whole story, but she had seen Rodolphus and Bellatrix in Azbakan, which didn’t surprise her much. “I just hope you and your date enjoy being... cold.”
“That’s what my sister told me too, except she wasn’t talking about James when she said it. But what’s so wrong about the way I’m living my life right now, hm?”
“Well you’re sister’s a... something I can’t say without being rude,” Sybbie smirked. “Your life is fine so long as you’re with James. But I happen to know it’s very important that you stay together, that’s all.”
Rod rolled his eyes. “I doubt she’s the one who deserves the pity.”
“You say that now, but you don’t know what I’ve Seen.”
“Oh, it’s not Potter.” She lied obviously.
“Well then I hate to be the one to tell you, but you’re living your life wrong.”
❝ So, you don’t have anyone to go with? Why hasn’t anyone asked you yet? ❞ It was simply an innocent question.
“Probably has something to do with the fact they all think I’m insane,” she smiled. “What about you? Why haven’t you asked anyone?”
“Only every day you’ve known me.” He replied with a wink.
“Well, it’s true,” she smiled, staring for a moment too long, before looking at her feet. “Did I tell you I haven’t had a drink in a week?”
❝ I understand, yeah. I suppose someday I might regret it. ❞ He paused for a moment, then shook the thought off. ❝ No, no date yet. I don’t really know who to ask, in all honesty. ❞
“Well, there are a lot of us dateless girls hanging around the school, I’m sure you’ll find someone. Although going stag can also be fun.”
“Only for those I like, Ms. Gale.” He replied with a laugh, spinning her round once more.
Annoyed at herself for blushing again, she smiled as he spun her around. “You’re ridiculous, have I told you that?”
“ Thanks for the agreement . And no, probably not.”
“Goodness, you’re more pessimistic than usual, aren’t you? What’s wrong?”
“We’ll I’m a naturally unlucky person, so perhaps the coin is balancing that out.” He told her simply. “My luck has been pretty great recently.”
“It has?” she beamed. “How so?”
“January 30th.” She laughed, “Though I hate you break it to you, but I found myself a date already or I’d totally want to take you.”
“If it’s not Potter then I’ve got something to break to you, my love,” Sybbie smirked.
Rod cocked a brow at the Ravenclaw, torn between bewilderment and his own growing amusement. After a moment of though, the eldest Lestrange decided that there was no harm in playing along to the girl’s madness. “As did I, though it would seem fate has a different woman in mind for me.” He shrugged. “Tragedy really.”
“Ugh, no,” Sybbie said, still feigning heartbreak. “The poor girl,” she smirked.
“What makes you think I have a spare quill for you?” Vic asked the other, raising her eyebrows.
“Just a wild hope. You could just say yes or no, you know, like a normal person.”
❝ I plan to be asleep before midnight, so I’m not too worried. ❞ He shrugged, ❝ I plan to avoid a lot of it. My mother loves the idea. Sent me clothing and everything. ❞
“Don’t avoid too much... life is short, you know? Might as well have fun while we’re here. Have you got a date?”
“I like to think you’re mad enough for the both of us,” Rodolphus replied dryly, noting the sarcasm in the girl’s voice but chose to ignore it, regardless. “What?” He arched a sardonic brow at Sybill “Did you not see my rejection coming, dear?”
“Just mad enough, is my view on it,” she smirked. “No, not at all. I always thought you and I were soulmates. I might never get over this shock.”
“ Sometimes, yes! Isn’t it annoying?”
“Well, blood purists are annoying no matter what they talk about, but the ball is going to be fun, don’t you think?”
