Donât you EVER do this to a personâs hair. That is a VIOLATION of a personâs body! If you think âshe deserved itâ then you deserve to be punished for harassment because doing anything to a personâs body without their permission is harassment. And since hair is a part of a person;s body, you have no right to touch, play with, cut, or mess up a person;s hair witout explicit permission.Â
Just ASK the girl to move her hair off your desk or to have the desk moved away a little.
âBUT ITâLL GROW BACKâ Not always! My mother had long gorgeous hair and her grandmother cut it all off and it NEVER grew back the same length again! She was DEVASTATED.Â
This girl is probably FURIOUS and she has every right to be!
Next time someone thinks itâs âfunnyâ to cut a personâs hair without their permission, I hope they get punched in the face.Â
âFunnyâ but True story: Cutting off a chunk of someoneâs hair without their consent is actually, legally considered assault and battery with a deadly weapon. A girl in my sisterâs class did this exact thing to her once, and she reported it to the police. The girl was legit charged with assault and battery with a deadly weapon. Yep. Hair is considered, legally, to be part of someoneâs body, hence the law.
Here is the Law:Â http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assault_occasioning_actual_bodily_harm#Cutting_hairÂ
Also, the mentality of someone who sees no problem literally just reaching out and doing this to someone is sociopathic. Like, I would NEVER even think to reach out and cut off a piece of someoneâs clothing even, much less their hair.
But yeah. For future reference: If anyone does this to you in class. You can report it to your local police station.
Someone pretended to do this to me in high school. They had fake hair in their hand and snipped the scissors close to my head and laughed hysterically. They held the hair in front of my face and taunted me while everyone laughed too. Instead of lashing out and hitting them (like high school me always did) or taking the hair, I burst into tears. I just started crying hysterically.
Why? Because someone thought it would be funny to cut my hair without my permission. Because I had spent YEARS growing my hair out after a terrible haircut (that I brought on myself). And because no one thought it was wrong that they did this.
The teacher came over at the sight of me crying and made everyone stop laughing. She asked me what was wrong and I pushed the fake hair toward her (still not knowing it was fake), put my head in my hands and kept crying. I expected her to tell me to just take the joke and itâs nothing to cry about. Instead she held the hair up and asked, âWho did this?â there were a few snickers, âThis is not funny, who did this?â I hadnât seen who did it because they were behind me so I couldnât tell her either.
Finally someone pointed at a kid and he said, âIt was a joke! The hair is fake!â the teacher walked over to him and told him to gather his stuff. He said something like, âSheâs being a baby it was a joke!â to which my teacher replied, âYou pretended to cut off her hair without her consent, that is not a joke.â she sent him to the office and he wasnât allowed back in her class for a week.Â
Also worth noting that some religions (the one that immediately comes to mind is Sikhism, though itâs not the only one) consider hair sacred or blessed, and forbid cutting or removing it! Not only is cutting someoneâs hair without their consent assault, but it could also be violating their religious beliefs/practices!
if u cut off my hair the scissors are going into your neck next
I am SO glad to see this resurfacing! I got MESSAGE after MESSAGE of MOSTLY men coming into my inbox to try and harass me about how stupid it was and how âitâs just a joke, lighten up bitch!â well the joke is on you, itâs against the law~Â

i was 14 and i was walking through a mall by myself at 12am after my shift at coldstone creamery lol and a bunch of men started whistling and meowing and getting really close to me and they kept asking me questions and i kept not answering until i didnât know what else to do so i said âiâm only 14â and almost in unison they said âwe donât careâ i was so fucking scared i didnât know what to do and they kept talking about how i looked and how my body looked and what they would do i was on the verge of tears i was all alone in a huge mall i knew i couldnât outrun them all i felt totally hopeless until a maintenance worker came up to all of us with a huge industrial broom in her hand, i thought she was going to yell at all of us for being in the mall after hours bc she probably thought we were all friends but instead she cursed all of them out in spanish, threatened to press a panic button on her belt and then proceeded to walk me to the basement garage and waited with me until my mom got there to pick me up she had a death grip on her cart the whole time and a face of steel she looked so strong and i just kept saying thank you and she kept saying not to thank her because she had to stop them.
that was the moment i realized women were the most important beings on this planet and we have to protect each other bc nobody else is going to, she didnât even know me, we couldnât even communicate that well because of the language barrier, she could have lost her job for waiting with me in the parking lot but she looked out for me when she didnât have to, she had nothing to gain from it, iâm 21 now and i tell everyone this story even though it happened 7 years ago, what she did that night helped me form and shape lot of my beliefs early on.Â
i was at a grocery store really late one night and some old guy kind of eyed me as i walked out of the store next to this other lady. She and I made eye contact and i knew she was scared too. we loaded up our groceries into our cars as fast as possible and I had way more bags than her so she got done faster than me. I panicked because i was sure she was going to leave so i just hurried faster, shaking a little, and then i noticed she sat in her car, watching me and making sure nobody came near. She waited not until all my groceries were loaded, or until my cart was put away, or until I got into my car. No, she didnât drive away until I drove away.Â
And that was the moment that I realized how much women need other women. That we canât win this war without each other and we have to be looking out for each other, every second.Â
my last year in new york city, i got off the subway around 9 or 10p.m. i only lived about 5 blocks from the f train, but i hadnât gotten more than two before a womanâs hand suddenly touched my arm.Â
âthat guy behind us is following you,â she said. âhe was watching you leave the train car and followed you up.â
i hadnât noticed him, or at least not noticed him following me. when we stopped outside a grocery store, he stopped half a block back and loitered. the woman linked her arm with mine and walked me several blocks out of her way to my front door and made sure i got inside safely.
another time, nocigar and i were walking home and at a stoplight a stranger grabbed my arm when i wouldnât respond to him and tried to physically drag me over to him. sheâwho is, by the way, not a very physically imposing girlâripped his hand off my arm and snarled, âdonât fucking touch her.â
protect your friends. protect strangers. there are good men in the world, but donât wait for them to do something if you can do it yourself.
I was at a club once and my friend left with her boyfriend so I finished my drink and was heading out to the parking lot when three girls came up to me and basically surrounded me.Â
âThose guys behind us were talking about following you. We can walk with you.âÂ
I have MMA training but have never in my life had been offered the protection and sanction of my own gender. This is so important.Â

Advice for girls: buy skinny jeans in the boyâs section
Theyâre more comfortable, still form fitting, and best of all: THE POCKETS. THEY HAVE ACTUAL POCKETS.
donât believe me? look:
these are boys pants, and they look just as good on me as any other skinny jeans I own
See that phone? Iâm going to put it in the pocket. Must be so small right??
Ah yes, girl pants length. Probably canât fit any further than that-
what? whatâs this?
Good god. Oh good lord in heaven. This is blasphemous.
Look at how much room is still there. Thereâs chaos in the streets. Babies are crying. Fashion designers are screaming out of fear of the unknown.
Buy your pants in the boys section, girls. Live in the beautiful world you deserve where you can fit sh*t in your pocket.
Also buy your flannel in the boys section. They have a working little pocket on the chest and they are not made of whatever material is thinner than PAPER so they will actually keep you warm.
Sweeeeet
If only I could buy bras in the menâs section. Iâm sure they would be cheaper and come with little boob pockets.
Okay but side note men do not typically hold weight in the same way women do so if you have a bigger butt or thicker thighs menâs pants are probably not going to fit you, just a fair warning for my plus sized ladies
pet peeve: when people hold trans women and transfeminine nb ppl to higher standards than cis womenÂ
HOW IS THIS A THING? If your feminism only benefits YOU youâre not a feminist, youâre just a self centered brat.Â
