so at the beginning of dolittle , dr dolittle’s wife dies and a large part of the film is that he’s depressed with grief, and then he meets the dragon (who’s guarding the macguffin) who’s also depressed with grief because her husband(?) died. they sit down and talk about it and you’re like, “aha, the climax of the film is that his empathy towards animals and his particular sort of grief will let him help the dragon where everyone else has only ever tried to fight it, because movies generally have themes”. so they talk about their grief and he’s abruptly like “i diagnose you with ass blockage”, and then removes a bagpipe from the dragons ass. then the dragon is like “let me return the favor” and I’m sitting there having a panic attack thinking about what the dragon means by that.
