Startle { Nat & Dorothy }
Stifling a yawn, Nat wandered slowly along one of Unova’s routes - she didn’t particularly care to find out which one, so long as it didn’t land her in a dead end - and generally enjoyed the nice weather.
Angel trotted beside her, the sun warming her fur pleasantly as she bobbed along, poking around whenever something caught her curiosity. Nat let the Eevee be; it had been a while since the last time they had a chance to enjoy tranquility outside, and in a new area, no less.
A few minutes later, however, the Eevee strayed just a little too far ahead and slipped from Nat’s vision. She gave Angel a couple moments to realize her mistake, but when the Eevee didn’t come back quickly enough, she whistled sharply.
No response. “Angel?” Nat called verbally, and was nearly bowled over as the brown streak of fur blasted right into her arms. “Angel, what are you-”
“Vee!” the Eevee shrieked, scrambling to hide behind Nat’s shoulders. “Vee! Vee!”
Her trainer blinked, and walked forward to see what it was that had spooked Angel, even though she was pretty sure she knew what it was.
Sure enough, there was a trainer with a ghost type at their side - Angel ducked shyly away, and Nat rolled her eyes. “I’m sorry,” she offered to the person, knowing that Angel’s cries of panic must’ve been audible across the entire route.
Nighttime walks were a common hobby of Dorothy’s, especially after an exhausting day of battling. This time, though, it was more of an early morning walk. It had been on of those days of endless trainers, seemingly one after another, stretching into the late evening and eventually early, early morning. There had to of been a line outside the gate; hardly time for any type of break.
More than half she’d beaten, perhaps even eighty percent. Of those eighty percent, a fourth put up a considerable amount of willpower. Golurk finally had the chance to participate since usually it scarcely does, being the last Pokemon Dorothy sends out.
It annoyed her more than anything, the unexpected boast of people. The gates had to remain open hours after the set time. But, of course, keeping them waiting surely wouldn’t due. Even though the set time is considered a guideline the Elite’s try to wrap up around, never does the gates close until a challenger doesn’t appear within two hours of the last.
Finally did that happen, and Dorothy had to get out of her stuffy chamber. She feared if she stayed another might arise.
My secrets are earned, but there are some I will never tell.

Becoming an Elite, Dorothy didn’t know it was almost customary to learn about other Elite’s in the different regions, including the champions. She certainly didn’t keep track of things like that, and it was almost embarrassing that the daily challengers knew more about them than an actual Elite did.
So when a letter came in the mail from Johto Champion Emilia, Dorothy wasn’t sure what to think.
The ghost maiden stares at the letter in her hand, contemplating what to do. It was an invitation. Dorothy never received invitations— how did Emilia even know who she was?
Oh, right. People aren’t as antisocial as I am.
