I feel like subway does a good job of "Standing for something." Subway promotes healthy eating and healthy choices. They not only sell tasty good food, they sell healthy food that will keep you healthier than the other fast food chains. They sell to benefit society as well

I believe that the solar panel would be a good product for "Respecting the genius of the place" as you are not going to want to put them in a very dark city or town. But put them somewhere dry where it is always sunny to receive the most output for this product

The breakthrough the scale of Amyris's level was going to be huge. They were about to start using British Sugar Cane as fuel. Mid article they state that " Finding an alternative to petroleum had the same ring as battling malaria". This is how big the discovery would have been. The company hurt when they reported 95 million dollars in losses in a quarter and their stock plummeted from 33$ to 1.50$ which hurt them majorly. If they could pull this off they would be written down in history.

It's crazy these days how you can learn through the internet. In this article, it makes it seem like it's actually compelling to learn online. The 16 year old child was glued to his computer when he came home and was just taking a free online course. The progress on how you can teach so many at once is also mind blowing. Ng states it would have taken him 250 years to teach this many students.

In this article, Horst Rittel observes that there is a set of problems that cannot be fixed with normal approaches of man. Horst calls these problems "Wicked Problems" He then goes on and lists the ten characteristics of them. I believe that this article is very informative and helpful in dealing with these problems, as the guidelines it states help us discover if our problem is a "Wicked Problem" or just a normal one.

This article talks a lot about observing like a scientist would observe, telling us to stray away from casual observing and start forming a hypothesis and sketching what we are observing. It seems like it is making observing into a chore, more than a leisure. This is a good thing if we are trying to make a scientific breakthrough, but for the everyday person, it's more stressfull

This toothpaste bottle is a horrible design because it is very hard to squeeze the bottle to get the toothpaste out. When there is only a little bit left it is impossible to get out and useless

This sink is pitiful in design. They put the handles directly under the shelf so they are hard to turn. In addition to this, the paper towels come out into the sink, so they get wet regardless.

These vacuums that say they are self propelled and really good really are not very good at all. They run into the walls, and then keep running into the wall over and over again.

The bus stop sign has the option to text a number and find out when the bus is coming. This is really useful for being on time and catching buses. In my opinion, an excellent idea.

This futon, in my opinion, was an excellent idea. It can be a very nice couch, but yet also has the capability of folding out and becoming a bed.

The pause and play feature without having to take your ipod out of your pocket was a very innovative idea. Without having to actually look at the ipod you can turn the volume up or down, pause play and switch tracks of whatever you are listening to.
