I don’t want to talk about it but I haven’t been this upset in a very long time and I’m just miserable rn
I failed the second part of a two-part exam on a technicality. I’m now out the cost of the exam, and over a hundred dollars for transportation to the testing site and back, and will have to take part two and pay for it again. Instead of being a big step closer to getting my life together, I’m further behind and I can’t express the amount of despair I’m feeling. I invested a lot in this and a lot of hope. In that much further from being able to live on my own instead of being functionally homeless, let alone being able to have my kids with me.
If you can and you want to help recuperate some of the loss—just some of the transportation cost would be great—I would be so grateful.

You know what’s funny I was super scared about posting my gofundme on twitter because they are usually evil about that kind of stuff but it was the opposite you can’t post shit on here without some weirdo telling you to get a job like we don’t live in America it’s so annoying anyway turns out I still need like 20 racks to do what needs to be done and I feel weird cause like I’ve never been this close to my actual dream before but it feels like the goal post keeps getting moved further and further away I do not like talking about surgery publically but this stuff is so beyond expensive I couldn’t even do anything rn without being broker than I was when I started fundraising when people were pretending to care about black trans people for the first time in June brazy right
Anyway this is a link to my gofundme https://gf.me/u/ykg45x

its silly that we have BLM carrds going around, everyone was reblogging them months ago on the regular & u guys are still asking “what are we supposed to do if voting biden is bad” or whatever. like the answer was in those carrds, several of them provided books & pdfs, most of them were FREE for you to read. & you STILL didn’t do your homework.
stop reblogging headlines without reading the article. actually put in the effort to learn about how to be antiracist and how to organize & make a change within ur community. get in touch with local groups. if you don’t have any near you, take the time to learn, listen, & spread resources. research & criticize yourself. take it easy, but take it.
here are those resources again to get started:
ORGANIZING RESOURCES doc
Master List of Black Revolutionary Readings by Timmy Chau (free pdfs, some have been taken down but most are still up, you could try googling the ones that have been deleted)
Anti-racist Resource Guide by Tasha K. (books, podcasts, movies and more)
D e c o l o n i z e : Resources by Ari Sahagún and Jay Saper (also check out resource generation)
Antisemitism: a basic guide by @bishonen and @hotgirlkakashi
yes this is a lot to take in all at once. make small goals for yourself though, try reading at least two articles a day that interest you, etc. find out what works for you.
added a doc about antisemitism
hey! do you have any sources for the black-owned business being damaged that you mentioned?? i would really like to spread awareness about them and donate to help them out if possible!
ofc! not all of these are black owned, but all are poc and small local businesses.
scores sports bar, owned by black firefighter kb balla, was burned down. his wife is a member of the sounds of blackness singing group. they have four children. you can donate here.
ghandi mahal burned down as well. owner ruhel islam’s statement was, “let my building burn. justice needs to be served, put those officers in jail.” however he is still left with immense financial burdens. you can donate here.
holy trinity lutherin church opened their doors to act as medics for protestors, most of whom came in for tear gas related injuries. you can donate here.
jose tamay’s local and immigrant owned business was destroyed, just weeks after being destroyed again in an incident unrelated to the riots. you can donate here.
e&l supermarket and deli, owned by adil albosaad, was damaged and looted. you can donate here.
midori’s floating world cafe is a japanese owned resturaunt which was destroyed. they also appreciate what the riots are representing, but again, are faced with financial and timely damages to rectify. you can donate here.
and i'm sure there are much more, but those are some i found really quickly!! i will be donating to all of them within this next week.
Today my heart aches at having the knowledge of another black life that was taken away by the police. Tony McDade, a black transgender man, was murdered on the morning of May 27th, 2020 by Tallahassee police in broad daylight. The details are still developing as there is very little media coverage of his death and unfortunately some of the coverage he is receiving is being done by folks misgendering him and invalidating his gender. What is clear though, is that this is another case of police violence against black people (specifically black trans people) that will be purposefully misrepresented and tried to be swept under the rug. We cannot let this happen.
When we say Black Lives Matter, we also need to recognize that EVERY TYPE of Black life matters. This means that Black Trans Lives Matter. We have value and are worthy of living. SAY HIS NAME. REMEMBER HIM. HONOR HIM AND BRING HIM JUSTICE.
Please sign and share this petition to raise awareness and to help bring justice to Tony.
(I am aware there is a video of a bystander’s account of what took place, but I’m not going to link the video because 1. The interviewer did not blur out the face of the man talking about what happened (if you don’t know why people who speak out against police need to have their identities protected, look to all the Ferguson activists who have been targeted over the years) and 2. Both the interviewer and bystander misgender Tony multiple times.)
Just a quick update for anyone who wants to do some further reading, the National Black Justice Coalition released a statement on what happened. You can read it here.
Hey, y’all the Human Rights Campaign also put out a statement if you’d like to read it, click here. As the HRC statement says, on June 3rd there will be a livestream by Equality Florida on both facebook and youtube addressing Tony’s death and steps that we can take to honor him and bring him justice.
