hyunjoonknew that his ribs were fucked up, though he didnât need some crazy gang medic to be telling him that. he had cracked ribs before so knew perfectly well what it felt like. and he was pretty sure they werenât broken, either, just cracked, so he was going to be perfectly fine so long as he didnât get another beating in the chest anytime soon. âiâm. fine,â he just reiterated the point with a hard glare, âi donât need you help. i donât want your help. and i am most certainly not going to die, iâve lived through worse than this.â
did he want to die? a small part of him probably did, mostly because he knew that might be the only way he was getting out of hydrus. but he certainly didnât want minju to know that, so he went back on the defensive about the situation. âif i wanted to die, i would rather put a gun in my mouth than let someone else have the pleasure of killing me,â and that was a fact, âor by accidentally getting impaled by my own ribs.â
As foreseen, Hyunjoon rejected all of his offers for help with the look that could kill. His soft, boyish face seemed to snarl at him, making him look older - almost like an adult - especially with the hemorrhaging around his eye. He wore Hell well and made it his own, he spits venom at Minju without considering for a moment that maybe itâd be good to make friends, and thatâs all it takes to inspire him to dig deeper. After all, heâs always been the kid that poked at danger, even if he was warned that he could be bitten, or worse.
Luckily his question seemed to catch Hyunjoon off guard and he can see him thinking, that grumpy expression transforming into something thoughtful before he steeled himself. âOh!â Minju gasped in surprise, even if he truly wasnât. âThatâs brave of you, but,â he stepped closer. God save his soul, he couldnât keep himself from getting in Hyunjoonâs personal space. He could almost step on his toes, and he boldly gazed at his junior from below, wondering if this is the move that will get him punched in the face. They could match.
âYou donât actually belong here,â he whispered, knowing the danger of what he was about to say. âDonât you want to disappear from this place? Iâve seen our comrades die, they all think the same as you,â
âThey all die by another hand. Youâre just a kid, if you donât make your decision soon, youâll die in this place you hate.âÂ
Minju paused, biting his tongue. True, the mortality rate was high, with their line of work it was a risk they all took believing they were too special to end up in the morgue. Maybe Hyunjoon claimed he had no death wish, but it mattered not because the odds were stacked against him. âIâm on your side - if you want to disappear one day.â He finished his offer with a smile and a slow attempt to slide out of Hyunjoons space, still nervous heâll just receive another kick to the shins.Â
hey! my semester started last week so iâve been adjusting to my new schedule. unfortunately i let a lot threads pile up and wait. iâll be getting to more this weekend, sorry for being mia !

âthe place Iâm working at is called moonflower, youâve probably noticed.â he hummed slightly. âIâm technically a petal, a part of âmoonflowerâ, do you get what I mean? Itâs also something that my mother used to call me when I was still a kid. I thought that it would be nice. itâs also used as a pet name sometimes. itâs easier to.. say while having sex, yâknow..?â he shrugged softly, a silent blush creeping up his cheeks.
âyoungjae.â he wasnât quite sure if he should tell the other his real name, but he wasnât exactly someone who could get obsessed with him, since he just wanted to play games and nothing else. âmy real nameâs youngjae. I also go by jae, thatâs what my friends call me.â
Their conversation flows easily as if they were new friends rather than client and customer. Petal accepts his eccentricity with grace, not once eyeing him or questioning whether or not he was a secret serial killer. Yes, it cost him a great deal to buy his time, but he never desired sex so desperately that paying for it crossed his mind. Rather, more useful ideas struck him when he thought about prostitutes, and he thought how short-sighted the business model was to exclude services such as these. Hell, every loser needed a friend, and he was just the loser looking to drop cash on one.Â
The connection between Moonflower and Petalâs name didnât cross him - he never was talented at poetics or understanding the reasons behind words. âAh, I guess that makes senseâ he added while setting up the game. What surprised him was his retelling of the past, his motherâs love and affection turned into a pet name to be spoken during sex. Minju glances back at him, now sitting on his couch, and for the first time sees his face turn pink.
Then, he surprises him again, giving away his name to the stranger that paid him to play video games. Does he look that harmless? The thought pleases him, it warms his chest from the inside to think that Youngjae believed he was no villain or murderous psycho. Still, even if Minju wouldnât be hurting him, that wouldnât change how wrong his conviction is.
He just despises messes. Thatâs the true reason for his pacifism.Â
âItâs a pretty name,â he offers, thinking it suited this boy with a princeâs face. âMuch prettier than Petal.â He couldnât help but resent the nickname now that he knew itâs the origin, to him it meant Youngjae resigned to his fate and willingly attached his identity. In a way, it was a loss of individuality. Minju passes him a controller and flops onto his monster chair, sinking into its furry open mouth as he selects a stage and the standard options.Â
Immediately he is merciless. Thereâs no fun in holding back and he guides his avatar through the motions of guerrilla warfare, but his aim was still sloppy from the years he let this particular game collect dust. âHow long have you lived in Myeongcho?â he asked whilst missing what would have been a spectacular headshot. âI thought I was weird, but this city almost makes me feel normal.â Frowning, he tries to recover from his mistake and continues with the stream of his curiosity.Â
âAlthough, youâve probably seen weirder things than I,â he added, hesitating for a moment when recalling all the bizarre things heâs had to remove from the bodies of Hydrus members. âThen again... I keep seeing people in horse costumes on the bus. Which I think might be a cult? Thatâs been, uh, unique.â

bloodlust_booty: that kitten scares me ă ă                             bloodlust_booty: letâs make a bet, you get my studentâs kidney if you win and you owe me pizza if I do ă ă
Baekhyun craved pizza and junk food in general. He would probably never get that pizza, but it was worth a try. He switched the server and typed in his password, pulled the keyboard closer to his chest and waited for Minju to answer.
In his little world waiting took an eternity. He stared at the screen until Baekhyunâs ID flashed across the screen, betraying his cringy teenage past. Minju smirked, amused by the offer that hit closer to reality than Baekhyun mustâve realized. A pizza hardly compared in value, but who was he to judge? Besides, even if he does lose he might be able to convince Baek to stay up later than usual for a rematch or two, or a dozen.Â
daddy_master_cool: a bet you say? hm. daddy_master_cool: okay, iâll do it for the kidneys!!! ÊâżÊ
He started Overwatch, added Baekhyun to a custom game, and cracked his knuckles in preparation. Baek has the skill, but he spent too much time teaching brats and not enough time grinding in the E-World. Confident heâd win and take the prize kidneys (he was serious about that, right?) he picked his usual character, Tracer, and began the game. Being the expert he is he quickly switched to the world chat and sent bloodlust_booty some love.Â
daddy_master_cool: prepare for annihilation ~(âą_âą)~
Usually, he took a stealth strategy but instead he went in guns blazing, aggressively hunting Baekhyunâs avatar down and attacking whenever possible. Minutes passed by like this, their health bars dropping steadily throughout the match, with no hope for an easy victory in sight. Minju grinned, leaning closer to his computer as he got increasingly more competitive, taking cheap shots and taunting Baek throughout the assault. Victory would be his; he aimed the weapon, took the shot, and watched as his hp suddenly dropped to zero - killed just before he could claim his prize.

feat. @danixmiâ tw: alcohol
He met Dani years ago in Seoul during a time now alien to him. They were students of different disciplines then, while he was in medical school she attended the police academy. Yet as fate would have it they crossed paths repeatedly, their social circles overlapping, and eventually, nights out drinking would consist of only the two of them. They formed a partnership of sorts, and maybe it was because passersby would assume they were a couple but their outings were always peaceful affairs.
Minju believed in his heart it was fate they led them to reunite in Myeongcho. What were the chances that old friends would meet years later in a different city, especially with their alignments competing at a viciously violent level?
The moon hung high by the time they left the bar, full and bright in a sky with no stars. He thought it gave the street a pale glow, but somewhere in his logical mind, he knew it was the alcohol blurring his vision. âThe night feels the niceâ he commented wistfully, stretching his arms and sighing like an old man. Other people trickled down the sidewalk past them, most stumbling with inebriation or lost in their own world, and they filled the night with white noise.Â
âAre you done for tonight, or are you up for a challenge?â he grinned, remembering their past days spent bar hopping. More people left the same bar as them, beginning to crowd around the area. Some lit cigarettes and lingered outside while others wandered in the direction of the bus stop, but he found it odd that one man seemed to stand alone, watching them conspicuously. Guessing him drunk Minju let it go and bumped Daniâs arm with his elbow, impatient for a response.
problem child.
mihyunjoonâ:
you could bet that hyunjoon showing his face around the hydrus headquarters was a rather rare sight. he hated the place, the people who lingered there, who he might bump into around any corner. most of his time was simply spent as far away from the hq as he could possibly manage, but he could hardly spend all of his time away. sometimes he needed to be there, summoned to be given some job he didnât really want to complete. and he was not stupid enough to ignore a direct order - he was still sore and hurting from the last time he had messed up.
though the limp to his step and the shooting pain with every breath had long since gone, hyunjoon still felt some of the side effects. he was almost convinced that his ribs hadnât healed completely correctly, sometimes feeling pain when he bent in the wrong direction. and it sometimes flared up when he was busy freerunning away from his problems, but he had never bothered to get it looked at by anyone. especially not any hydrus guys, he refused to let any of them touch him on a good day.
so, when someone grabbed his shoulders and shook him from behind, hyunjoon was less than impressed. instinctively he lashed out with a foot, a kick which would have been impressive if he was in the middle of a taekwondo lesson. but he wasnât, so he didnât suppose for a moment he was going to get any compliments for his form. âfeeling worse upon seeing you,â he just offered with a scoff, âand weâre not friends, so donât call me your friend.âÂ
His hijinks earned him a swift kick, which he figured he deserved anyway. Hyunjoon seemed to assume the defensive, overreacting in a way that only teenagers can - or perhaps he has a strong grudge for his comrades at this point. Despite himself, Minju frowned as he realized he might be poking someone dangerous into a corner. In his hesitation, he took a moment to size-up his patient, who has definitely seen better days, and now carried a paranoid glint in his eyes.Â
âThat hurts meâ Minju claimed, taking a step closer. Little time passed since Hyunjoon received his beating, itâd only be natural if his injuries went beyond superficial bruising. He had been limping earlier if that wasnât proof enough. Usually, heâd be callous enough to test his theory by poking him in the ribs, but deciding to play nice he kept his hands to himself. âIâm only trying to help you. Itâs my lifeâs work,â he continued with a tilt of his head âso I can see it when youâre not well.â
âBut,â he shrugged his shoulders, hands in the air âI canât force you to do anything. If it turns out you have a broken bone, though,â pausing in his elaboration, Minju took another bold step forward âit could mean a trip to the morgue for you. Especially if that bone is a ribâ he took a wild guess, relying on the most likely problem to convince Hyunjoon. âOne wrong move and you could poke a hole in yourself. Not that someone like me couldnât save someone from a little internal bleeding, but youâre still gambling with your life.â
Minju tried looking him in his eyes. Why was he trying this hard again? Was it because of pity, or was it self-interest? âUnless,â he considered, deep in thought âyou want to die?âÂ

Gifting him with foolish mercy the devil-assassin gave him advice over a death certificate. Heâd smile if he wasnât suffering from a major loss of oxygen, nonetheless, a rush of relief pulsed through him as he realized hey, Iâm not going to die here. Minju gladly accepted this present and once released he slouched onto the wall, using the last of his strength to hold himself up as he coughed violently. The air filling his lungs was a small relief that passed quickly, his breath hitching in his throat when the man grabbed onto his wrist.

normally he didnât got swept away that easily, but alcohol was one of the few things he truly enjoyed which was why his older friend managed to drag him along, poured him drink after drink until even heavyweight dohwan turned into a drunkard. there werenât many people who had seen drunk dohwan, and even less who had survived a drunk grim. that was probably because drunk dohwan was like a completely different person. he chuckled, cheeks flushed, before pulling minju closer. âhey hey, minju~ how about that one. iâm sure she will like you.â his friend was already in his thirties. it was time for him to find a suitable wife. using his strength, he dragged the older towards the female he was just talking about to push the other into her. âhey, do you know minju?â
When his medical career in Seoul ended he rescinded his position in normal society. Hydrus found him, appealed to his heart, and proposed marriage of loyalty and evil. Overnight he appeared in Myeongcho, expecting to begin a new life without any ties to his previous self. But the world is small, and South Korea even smaller, and he found an old friend in the organization that saved him.Â
Minju kept up with Dohwanâs drinking despite their differing tolerance; he wouldnât let his precious dongsaeng and friend outdrink him even if it meant heâd fall to the control of the liquor. He began drinking at a young age, when he was still in middle school and spent his free time with the delinquents, and welcomed each burn with a permanent smile on his face.
Dohwan pulled him closer, fitting Minju by his side as they stumbled through the bar, his mind set on becoming his matchmaker. He let it happen all the while, gripping onto Dohwanâs waist for support. âEh~? No way, pretty girls donât like shortiesâ he resisted playfully, considering the situation. The woman sat alone and might seem like an available single, but her sharp winged eyeliner and ruby-red lips told him that she was more like a siren waiting to eat souls. Truthfully, this made her resemble his ideal type, but he preferred the real deal over an imitation.
âIâm Minjuâ he clarified, pointing to himself. Her face scrunched up, lips forming an angry pout, and he giggled madly at the look of confused disgust. âOh~? Maybe you know Dohwan instead. Isnât he tall and handsome?â he reached up, having to stand on his toes to reach, and pat his friend on the head. âHeâs a lady-killer, donât you know?â He bit the insides of his cheeks to keep himself from laughing at his own bad joke, yet the giggles came through despite his best efforts. Looking up at Dohwan from this angle, it was hard to imagine the red-faced drunkard was capable of anything requiring grace and skill.
âAre you guys high?â she asked, deadpan in voice and expression. This only made him burst out in laughter, and seemingly startled she began to lean away from them. Her eyes darted over to the bartender, then back to them - potentially a sign that their time here might come to an abrupt and demanding end.Â

It was like the gods wanted her ass out of bed because there was a knock at her door and she knew exactly who it was. Rina wasnât going to bother changing and got up from bed to let the nut in because she knew this battle would be lost and she did like hanging out with the guy. Though they started off as colleagues, Minju accepted her first initial awkward attempts in conversations and since then have just kinda got along really well.Â
These kind of meetings were common and Rina has just learned to accept it; she enjoyed his company. she opened the door in all her tired glory and the first thing she saw was the duffel bag and sighed, âWhatâs the game plan for the day?â Her smile was weak but there, moving aside to let him in.
His fist stopped in mid-air when the door opened, revealing Rina and all of her tired glory. âRina!â He greeted but wasting no time for pleasantries he slips past her, letting himself in. Looking at her it appeared he acted as her alarm clock and he guessed that if it wasnât for him showing up unannounced she would have spent several more hours in dreamland. Honestly, heâs impressed she rolled out of bed so quickly.
Minju took his shoes off at the door and dropped the duffel bag at his feet. âOh, itâs a good oneâ he promised before crouching down to the floor. "So you know that PC Bang I brought you to that one time? The one that serves the good ramyun? Not just for part of the day but at all hours, mornings and nights?â he launched into a manic explanation as he unzipped the bag, revealing a pile of eccentric-looking clothes.Â
âWell,â he continued without taking a breath âtheyâre having a contest. Whatâs important is the prize. The winners will get free service and all the ramyun you can eat for a year.â Minju finally stopped to breathe, and then his demeanor completely changed. From confident to nervous he looked up at Rina warily, for the first time expressing doubt in his plan.Â
âThatâs where you come in,â he reached into the duffle bag and pulled out a costume for a particularly popular character, âthereâs one thing getting in my way. Itâs a couples contest.â Admittedly it was a little tacky and absurd, however, it guaranteed them a win. He lifted the blue monstrosity, presenting the Sonic the Hedgehog costume like it was a hunting trophy.
âThis is his skin. Itâs real.â
Minju suddenly shook his head. âSorry, I got a little carried away,â he apologizes but still shoves the costume closer to her. âSweet, merciful, wonderful Rina. Will you help me win?âÂ

âyouâre being serious. you actually ordered a prostitute- you ordered someone who normally getâs paid for lap dances and sex to play video games?â confusion is visible on his face before he suddenly starts to love. he looks even pretty when he laughs, daring expression and parted lips, body slightly frown back in the process. âoh, sweetling.â he softly pads his shoulder and shakes his head, before a light grin curls around his lips.
âis there any chance that you have black ops 4? battlestar galactica?â
Petal lived up to his namesake by embodying natural beauty in a graceful, mortal form. He was impressed, by all means, considering that he retained a semblance of vibrancy that many like him lost. How young is he, anyway? Minju observes for a brief moment but ultimately abandons all of his guessings. If curiosity gets the best of him, then he can just ask. Unsurprisingly, money can buy you almost everything.
âHuh?â He plays dumb as Petal slowly realizes the truth, watching his perfect face twitches in and out of confusion. Heâd laugh too if the situation wasnât so dire. âIâm serious,â he whines âthis could have apocalyptic consequences.â Truthfully, he never had a talent for making many friends - this isnât the first time heâs done this. Money meant little to him, so he had no reservations against blowing it on his frivolous impulses.Â
Minju grinned at him, pleased by his suggestions. âBlack Ops 4? Do you really think you can beat me?â he challenges and waves Petal over to his living room, the seating consisting of an extended navy sofa and two separate chairs. A recliner matched the sofa, but the other stuck out in neon green, shaped like a monster with an open jaw and bulging plush eyes.Â
âMake yourself at homeâ he offered before opening the drawer of the coffee table, revealing rows of games organized in two methods: first by operating system, then by title. Quickly picking out Black Ops he brought it to his Xbox, where he began the process of crossing and plugging in wires. âSo,â Minju began again, too tense to sit in silence, âPetal, huh? Thatâs what they called you, anyways. Itâs not your real name, is it? Your parents would have to be aliens. Weird aliens.â
He paused in his barrage of questions to turn on the television, the screen first flashing blue before connecting to the Xbox. âOh, so why Petal? Did you choose that?âÂ

Todayâs work concluded with a stronger metallic smell than usual, one he had to viciously scrub off himself at home with essential oils and cotton candy scented bubble bath. The stress itself only existed because of his failure to avoid the most extreme option, thus leading to a scolding from both patient and boss. As if he could save everyoneâs right leg! Nonetheless, there was no convincing egocentrics to believe a mere doctor, and so he resigned himself to playing video games to unwind and relax. At midnight he sat in front of his desktop monitor, basking in the glow of blue light in the otherwise dark room.
daddy_master_cool has entered the chat daddy_master_cool: hello my friends  âąă âąÂ are you hungry... for an ass-kicking???
Minju logged onto a chat server reserved for him and his various internet friends, most of them involved in the same games, guilds, and teams. These strangers, many with hidden identities and cartoon icons, were frequent victims of his frustrated badgering: he always expected someone to have the free-time to drop everything and play a match for his amusement, no matter how inconvenient it might be. Tonight the only other name logged onto the chat was Baekhyun, a fellow Overwatch player and someone he could count on for consecutive merciless victories.Â
daddy_master_cool:Â baekie hurry up and respond!!! i had!! a long day at work!!! daddy_master_cool:Â please ă ă ah. i am a good soul. i only stole one kidney today ă ă i deserve this
Patience may be a virtue, but Minju was far from virtuous and began spamming the chat with animated emoticons, most of them sobbing but some threatening - including a kitten holding a knife. Eventually, Baekhyun had to respond, or at least Minju hoped he would before a cruel death from boredom took him into the next world.Â

he takes one last breath and rings the doorbell, bites down on his bottom lips and shakes his head slowly. what has he gotten himself into again.
The last sixteen hours have been pure torture.
Minju simmered aggravated for the day begging his friends to stop with their busy lives and show they care about him, which meant playing hyper-competitive e-sports and deathmatch Minecraft with him until their fingers locked from carpal tunnel. His harassments, however, didnât amuse nor convince them and he was abandoned by everyone by the beginning of the night. To make matters dire the nearest PC bang was under renovations and the second was closed to the public to host a wedding reception, which hardly sounded as important as his current predicament of deprivation.
So to solve his problem he called a number, transferred some funds, and ordered a prostitute.
Dressed in âpeople clothesâ of the simplest sort (beer t-shirt, sweatpants) Minju was laying on the floor staring dead-eyed at the ceiling when his doorbell rang, waking him from his stupor. He scrambled from his spot, slipped on the shiny linoleum, and fell flat on his stomach. More than ready he had prepared his living room with the utmost pinnacle of the gaming experience, complete with black-out curtains, an array of systems old and new, and clean throw pillows that were fluffed to perfection. He even deep cleaned the entire apartment, making sure it was spotless for the most important guest heâs ever had.Â
Finding his footing he finally got up and rushed to the door, not hesitating to unlock the bolt and swung it open in welcome. âYou must be Petal! Welcome, Iâm Lee Minju and itâs a pleasure to meet you! Thank you so much for coming on such short noticeâ he began thanking him profusely, taking his hands in his to shake them wildly in his excitement. Just as quickly did he let go and step aside to let the young man in, but he did not stop in his fast, manic rambling.
âYouâre a lifesaver, everyone else left me stranded here without a hope to go on. I thought I was going to actually die, seriously, thank you again,â he continued, gesturing to where he can take off his shoes. The interior of his unit was as clinical-looking as the complex itself and he kept it painstakingly clean and organized without clutter, needless decorations, or even a dining table. The most human element was in the mismatching bookshelves the lined the walls, each stocked with a different category of literature ranging from medical journals to foreign comic books.Â
âNone of my friends will play games with me, itâs ridiculousâ Minju added, âyou wouldnât happen to be a gamer, would you?âÂ

feat. @mihyunjoon
Rarely did he have the time or desire to simply lounge around Hydrusâ headquarters. Despite its scenic location complimented by the sea breeze and smell of salt just existing in this space meant you were âinvolved in the shitâ and therefore could be swept away by work or chaos at any moment - not that it was always a bad thing. But he was in between appointments, so he wandered through the halls and junctures of the factory, bored and lethargic like one of the ghosts who were legend to haunt here.
His meandering stopped at the sight of the familiar silhouette of a young man, and Minju hovered at a doorway to spy on one Heo Hyunjoon before attempting to sneak behind him. Last he saw of his junior he looked like Hell and death had fought to punish him, which was essentially what happened anyways. Truthfully, he felt pity for the boy. He didnât remind him of a snake but of a legless lizard pretending to be venomous. Minju smiled, stretched his arms out, and tried his luck at scaring him by grabbing his shoulders and shaking him.Â
âHey! Isnât it my favorite, number one patient in all Korea?â he boasted, then ducked out of the way for fear of repercussions. âHyunjoonie! So good to see youâre still alive! No autopsy today no autopsy tomorrow, autopsies Tuesday though so if youâre gonna die then Iâll cut you a deal! Howâs it hanging, my friend?â Â
