It’s quiet here… rarely do you hear the sound of a car passing by especially in the stillness of night. I sleep with the bedroom window open, to feel the air change, to watch the moon and stars rise and fall on their path illuminating my dreams. Usually it is the sun that awakens me from sleep—but not today. Today, at 6:30am I heard the distant sounds of classical piano echoing through the corridors. I listened lying in bed peacefully wondering if I was still dreaming. I eventually arose and walked to the window, standing still for sometime just watching the neighbor’s kitchen curtain flutter sleepily in the breeze to the tune. There was a man down the alleyway, he was writing at a wooden table, I wondered if he could hear the beautiful music while the rest of the world lay fast asleep. Maybe he too was writing about this enchanting morning when the birds sang to Chopin.
What a way to wake up. I took a photograph to remember this morning of unexpected enchantment.
