Question for y’all…

To what extent do you guys think Clarice would have to push Hannibal to get him to kill her? I mean like, really push him and how would he do it?

-I say he would take his time with her in a poetically and artistic way. Like he’s gonna let himself “enjoy her end” type-of-thing and in terms of taking and eating an organ from her, I feel like it would be her heart.

Idk just my opinion, but I’d love to hear your guys’ thoughts!

I can’t tell if this is a serious question or if it’s an OOC exploration but I’ll give it a serious answer because there’s already way too much fanon Hannibal Lecter nonsense out there.

To answer any question regarding Hannibal Lecter it’s important to remember that the movies and tv show do not matter. Only the books can be used to support your argument.

Hannibal says Clarice is a warrior, she is the honey in the lion, she is beautiful, she is unpredictable, she can frighten him, she holds the most important place in the world. His relationship with her is beyond his experience. He no longer dreams about Mischa.

If he didn’t get bored in the seven years he checked three newspapers every week to see if she wrote to him then he’s certainly not getting bored when she’s finally next to him. “I think it would be quite something to know you in private life.”

There is zero reason for Clarice to push Hannibal. He freely gave her the information about his past. He finds her walking freely through his mind. She challenges him (since day one) but she does not push. Clarice writes to Ardelia and tells her that she is “fine and better than fine.”

There is no evidence that they are anything but happy together. There is no evidence that unhappiness, boredom, or betrayal is in their future.

He would not kill her.

If there is anything in the books to indicate otherwise (besides briefly considering replacing her with Mischa which he quickly moved on from) then please share it so I can reevaluate. It’s always possible that I am forgetting something or misremembering.

Thank you! Honestly, I mostly do it because the show has warped the story and characters so much that I need people to know what really happens in the story.

People need to remember that the books exist. I want people to read more and I hope the quotes will make them curious enough to read. Plus, I like putting in quotes that prove that Hannibal and Clarice actually do like each other...remind myself that I'm not making things up just because I want them together. 😂
