Sunday morning walk • Despite last night’s storm, I slept for 9 hours. I woke up and saw the hills around Basel covered with snow. After a relaxed breakfast I did my daily walk, just in time before the rain started again. At this time of the year, I definitely prefer trees covered with white blossoms, than hills covered with white snow. Recently instead of painting, I am more into just playing a bit around and trying new things out. I always found collages interesting and today I tried this one here, a man’s head made of (mostly) old photographs of walls in Basel. I took these photos many years ago and printed them out for another project back then. This weekend I found some last copies of these prints and thought I could reuse them here. New year, new Sketchbook! On our daily walks the trees caught my attention, especially the different kind of fruits they are growing - what playful shapes… I haven’t drawn for a long time, but felt like drawing all the fruits hanging in the trees right now. It’s good exercise and I learn about the trees. Every single tree on public land in Basel is recorded in a cadastre with its German name, Latin name, age and an identification number. These are the fruits of some trees at Theodorsanlage right in these days. Some of them are already in the process of developing next season's flowers. I think trees are so amazing 💚🌳💚!
