I’ve been gone for a while, literally and figuratively. I went to Paris for a few weeks, and I didn’t want to think about guns while I was there. I didn’t have to, because guns are not part of their culture, despite what the fear-mongers would have you believe since last year’s attacks. I felt safer there. Then I came back and Orlando happened. I just didn’t have it in me to make cheeky drawings of despicable gun extremist quotes. But now I’m pissed. So for the next little while, I’m taking on a project that I’m calling ‘NRA Pocket’.
Real-Life Quotes from Larry Pratt, Executive Director of Gun Owners of America, a gun-lobby group to the right of the NRA. Pratt made the top quote in yesterday’s New York Times article about the recent spate of toddler shootings. The other quotes are some of Pratt’s greatest hits. While the media treats Pratt as a reasonable spokesman for gun rights, he’s actually got a long, well-documented history of racist, insurrectionist, anti-Semitic rhetoric.
