Oscilloscopes allow for the testing and visualisation of voltages. Sound and vibrations can easily be transformed to voltages and visualised.

This is an interesting way of evaulating fulfillment. Because it uses 3 axis, it creates an area / volume to visualise results as a whole.

BOX FACTORY - Sam Meech and Tom Rea Smith
Taking inspiration from animator Norman McLaren - this video recording uses midi signals generated by the composition (played via Logic Pro) to trigger shapes on the screen, giving a precise visual accompaniment to the sound. The patch was developed in Isadora, and allows for a degree of randomness (eg position, thickness of the shape), as well as some interactive variables (feedback).
Norman McLaren - Scottish animator who worked most of his life in Canada, developing experimental approaches to sound and animation. In this piece, the sound is generated by an optical score imprinted onto film - essentially an analogue approach to electronic music. We then see that same score represented on the film itself.
