Second of all: I totally didn’t read the parallel here. The use ofthe harpoon in Joe’s death avenges Angharad, who died because of the harpoon.

The War Boys call him “lucky,” to be favored by the Imperator.

The Sisters call him her “support/partner.”

Furiosa calls him “reliable.”

Max thinks the correct term they’re looking for is “furniture.”

But all things considered, he’s been used for worse before. He doesn’t mind being of use to Furiosa.

I said I wanted to draw a series of doodles of Furiosa using Max as various forms of furniture mostly to lean upon…and him making bemused grumpy faces.

Max makes me so very happy because he’s clearly a PTSD survivor (possibly a neuroatypical one) whose point in the movies is NOT to be the “from a disabled guy to a hero overcoming all challenges” -character. The movies represent him as an awesome badass and still doesn’t hide the fact that he’s battling some serious mental health issues. People like Max (and me) don’t usually get represented in media that positively and honestly.

Can we please take a moment to appreciate Max in this GIF? I’m starting to think that the only reason he’s seen as “Mad” is because he’s the only person left in this movie who has a natural “what the fuck” reaction to everything. Like. This shit isn’t the norm to him. The world went crazy, he’s the only sane one left.

Sailor Fury? I couldn’t picture Furiosa conforming to a Sailor Skirt >.< I thought about putting the Citadel Skull somewhere on her–and while iconic, it’s Joe’s brand and it’s the furthest from what she wants to be. So I put traces of the Green Place for her instead.
