There were whispers in his head.
Soft, soothing voices that echoed in a way Regulus supposed water would ripple. Repeating, repeating, always repeating that mantra- we need to find her, we need to find her, we need to find her quickly. At times, Regulus thought that he was fading away- that this thing would consume him, would erode at him until he all but shattered into irreparable fragments. Each time that he thought this the voice balked, only growing incessantly louder the more he dwelled. It was not boisterously loud so much as that it simply dimmed down everything else, and Regulus missed the days where he would only hear whispers at the back of his head. It shivered, as if hurt, retreating just a second long enough for Regulus to feel alone before coing back full-force with more fervent pleas.
'We need to find her, we need to find her.'
Demanding his attention.
'I need to find her no matter what, for you.'

âAlone. Yes, thatâs the key word. The most awful word in the English tongue. Murder doesnât hold a candle to it and hell is only a poor synonym.â

For what felt like hours, the hatter didnât utter a word. He simply peered into the darkness, the intruder carefully cloaked in the shadows that surrounded him. He wasnât entirely sure who was foolish enough to break into the Rainsworths, and if he had stolenâŠwell the result in that would be fairly obvious. However, Break didnât quite feel like this âperson,â was that type of intruder. Curious he was..Â
Bored of the silence, Break decided he would engage in conversation. He wanted answers.
âJust who are you?â He began with his interrogation. âSurely you know this is the dukedom of the Rainsworths, surely youâre not foolish enough to just break in without a good reason~â the words hummed from his mouth, almost as if he were enjoying himself. And for a man like Break, of course he was. There was nothing but silence for a few moments, in which the male began to feel frustration.
âI hope you are awareâŠI have plenty of ways to make you sing~â
"I can't answer you." Ren sighed, figuring that it'd be okay to turn around now. The small sound of his shoe against the carpet as he turned was enough to cause the older man to shift his stance, and Ren wondered just how on edge this man actually was for someone who was humming his words a moment ago.Â
Silver hair and red eyes. Lips in a half curve, an amused silver of a moon. Ren blinked, but didn't comment. Mock Turtle was growing increasingly distressed, and Ren's eyes eventually made their way back to the floor. It wasn't exactly fear that gripped him, but there was definitely something there that rooted him in place. He didn't doubt that he could kill him if he wanted to. He offered a small shrug.
"I don't know what I was sent here for. I haven't found it yet."Â
At first, Dodo thought he didnât want to tell the bird. WhichâŠwould be fine seeing how Lulu wasnât in a familiar place but when he continued on, his country was similar to Dodosâ only his wasnât organized at allânot any more.  Dodo wanted to ask more about Lulusâ home and what he did or what he liked to do there, only he didnât. Instead the boys voiced hushed and the bird tilted his head, leaning to hear better before noticing the other doing the same.
ââŠItâs a bit lonely some times.âÂ
The words seemed to play repeat in the birds mind andâhow sad. To know that this outsider had to know that feeling. It was all too common here, especially when Dodoâs friends hadnât came back in so long regardless of the rare visits but, what about Lulu? He didnât want him to feel lonely, even but a little! And out of that thought, the bird drew in a faint breath and quickly, yet softly reached and patted the young males head. âDâŠonât want..â He started, flustered by his own forwardness and quickly withdrew his sleeve âLuu..Lulu to..feel lonelyâŠis not good.â He cooed.
"I have you, now, though." Regulus muttered, easing his troubled frown into a smile. His eyes were somewhere else though, distant and misty; and his fingers idly traced small patterns over the hem of Dodo's sleeve. It wasn't like he thought that it was an injustice to him that he was alone. No, wanting to be found but hiding- how selfish is that? He was the one that always shied away, wasn't he? Regulus sighed.Â
He thought of Dodo, who sat next to the pool as if it was the natural thing to do. "Are you lonely?"Â

Hmm, I don't really ship him with anyone! He's a bit of an enigma, and while I can definitely see why some people ship him with practically the entire cast (but most noticeably Liam or Gilbert? Sharon and Charlotte too) it's rather more of a platonic bromance or some friendly teasing thing to me instead. I guess I just feel like he's been around for so long that he has that odd detachment. He'll get attached to people, care for them, love them- but for some reason I can't really see him getting a romantic interest. He's also said that 'he might not have another year left', so even if he does I feel like he'd restrain himself on acting on it. Â Or perhaps there just hasn't been a person that strikes a chemistry I like with him yet haha.BreakXCandy! Â
Let's play the "Send me a character and I'll list who I ship them with"

caught-in-the-shadows:
Noise.Â
Having been awaken from his sleep, the hatter rose from his bed. Quickly, he rubbed the sleep from his eye as he reached for his coat. He wrapped it around him, grabbing his cane as he left his room in a rush. He heard where the noise had come from, but to be sure, he left to check on Sharon and the others. Who to his surprise, were still sound asleep. Was the noise not as loud as he believed it to be? Shrugging to himself, he quietly closed the door to Sharonâs room.Â
Break lived under the Rainsworth estate for a long time now, he knew every inch of the place by heart. And with the help of his chain, he was able to create pathways throughout the house, enabling him to get to certain areas quicker. He had used them so much, he forgot how to use a door, or rather he grew tired of coming through one. He very enjoyed the element of surprise and appearing out of nowhere. Like a circus clown, one moment they are there and the next theyâve vanished without a trace. Break lived on this concept.Â
With the help of Mad Hatter, Break engulfed himself in the shadows, moving himself in the room the intruder now stood. He remained quiet for a moment, letting the other believe he was alone. Until finally, the hatter grew bored and thought it was time to settle this. Lifting his cane, he roughly pounded it on the wooden floors. Loud enough to startle the other, yet careful not to stir the women of this household.Â
âI trust you see it wise not to move, youâve come for a visit, so why donât you make yourself comfortable~?â Break threatened.Â
A few stuttering heartbeats later, Regulus found that he had actually relaxed at the other's voice. It was silly, he knew, finding comfort in having another person in the room (especially one that probably wasn't too happy to see him); but even as Mock Turtle swam uneasily in his shadow Regulus felt his frown evening out, shoulders relaxing as his fingers drummed softly against the open windowsill. A breeze blew by, and he squinted to keep his fringe from pricking his eyes. There was a great temptation to turn around and associate a face with the oddly toned voice, and he idly wondered if the man was pointing anything at him- a gun, a sword; maybe even a chain. He couldn't tell, and the bright scenery of the lush gardens in front of him seemed to mock him just the slightest bit.
He opened his mouth a few times, but it was never in his nature to speak much; so why should he start now?
Would the other attack him? Regulus was perfectly happy with the idea of being captured and then escaping later, and he forcefully pushed down the small barriers Mock Turtle was erecting along the vital spots in his back. He took a deep breath and waited.
