ONE THING HE isn’t, nor will he ever be, used to are compliments from out of the blue. Thankfully, the embarrassment plastered on his face like a Goddamn neon light is at a minimum.

…unfortunately, it’s prevalent enough to make him choose his next course of action without thinking. Case in point: actually leaning toward the flower held up to him to utter a small “thank you” in response to the girl’s earlier compliment. One has to wonder if he’s made an ass of himself yet.

Called preposterous by many and understood by few, Matlida finds it genuinely surprising that she and the flower hadn’t been rebuffed. Because that’s been her life since the injury --- she would say something even just slightly outlandish ( not uncommon from her before ), followed by someone chastising or ridiculing her for it, telling her to “grow up” and “act her age already”. Honestly, what a boring bunch of people.

She lets out a small giggle, something soft and silvery. A smile comes to her face. The flower must be right, this person does seem nice. Nice enough that she decides to tuck the dandelion behind his ear, hoping it would be happiest there. “There,” she says, bringing her hands together. “Lovely. It suits you.”
