As I reflect on 2018, words cannot express how grateful I am for all of the opportunities I have had, the people I have met and worked with, and all of the personal growth I have been able to achieve. I have learned so much about myself and the ways to best approach my sustainable, environmental mission that I can hardly imagine what 2019 will hold.⁣ ⁣ 💕Seeing my top performing posts for the year, also makes me incredibly grateful for all of you, my Instafam, for being into the things that truly matter to me. "New York!! We have the power to stop plastic bag pollution once and for all! On Wednesday, June 6th, @nygovcuomo will be voting on a ban of plastics bags! 🌿So here is my ask: On Wednesday, June 6th, or even before, call Governor Cuomo’s offices and urge him to ban the single-use plastic bag AND place a fee on alternative bags by supporting S7760/A9953, the ‘New York Bring Your Own Bag Act’. 🐋 Evidence demonstrates that plastic bag laws help reduce pollution in waterways. Los Angeles County experienced a 94 percent decline in plastic bag usage and a 30 percent reduction in paper bag usage after a ban on plastic and a 10-cent fee on paper went into effect. Plastic bag policies in the United Kingdom have led to almost a 30 percent reduction in plastic bag pollution found on the floor of the North Sea. 🙌🏼 Initial evidence from 2017, the first year after California’s first in the nation ban went into effect, shows a nearly 4.2 percent reduction from 2010 in plastic bags found on beaches statewide. We live in a world today that our ancestors just 70 years ago wouldn’t understand. 🐋 Our sea life lives in a world of plastic waste. Our green lands and forests are rarely traveled without plastic obscuring our path... But the fact that only 70 years need be corrected, means we are not far from the answers giving us hope. ⁣🌿⁣ ⁣⁣ Ask yourself what you can do, today, to reduce your consumption. And if you cannot, ask for help. Every small action is a step in the right direction.
