Modern Daemonology

Daemonology, as its name suggests, is the study of daemons. Every human has a daemon, but the study of them is a relatively new art, arising soon after the advent of psychology as a science. As with psychology, daemonology is an in-depth look into the human condition, but with a much greater focus on the forms daemons take, their personalities in contrast to their humans, and even how they interact with other humans and daemons. Since much of the true nature and origin of daemons is shrouded in mystery, this blog aims to help shed some light on various aspects of daemons and what they say about their humans.

Daemons are something that has always fascinated me so I got super excited when I found this blog. I’ve been analyzing them like crazy and trying to make sense of them for what feels like forever. It’s so cool to see people take serious interest in how daemons work and it’s such a nice surprise seeing a whole blog dedicated to the subject.

I believe daemons are something that really exist(beyond daemonism which is usually a thoughtform but not always) and have been slowly making my own set of practices revolving around them and how they’d work in our world. I’ve done lots of work with myself and a lot of my theories seem to hold up, with me eventually discovering my daemon who settled as a Canadian Lynx.

So just out of curiosity I have to ask, what would your analysis be for a Canadian Lynx daemon? I know your blog is for AUs and not for real spiritual belief but I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Wait omg thank you for sharing your experience!! I’m actually a very spiritual person as well, and I can speak to my own daemon, who has settled as a sand cat!

I made this a purely-au centered blog as I never want to assume anything about anyone else’s spiritual experiences. It’s so cool to know you feel daemons exist too though! When Aurum’s around, he never shows me anything but love. It’s enough to make me feel less lonely if I’m by myself and a lot better about myself, which are two things I really struggle with.

Anyway, about the Canadian Lynx! Lynx are regal and majestic wild cats, adapted for the cold and the snow. Canada Lynx are one of the most common and well-known types of lynx, but that doesn’t make them any less impressive!

Like all felines, lynx are clever, keen, and perceptive. Being a medium-sized cat, perceptions of lynx are more on the side of noble predator rather than deceptively cute hunter, as many smaller wildcats are seen. You may have a reserved, independent, almost prideful air, and others notice this and respect it. Like all felines, you have your boundaries, and probably prefer to be alone with your own thoughts and feelings over being with others.

Where people tend to misunderstand felines, however, is often in the realm of social interaction and affection. Lynx, like many other wild cats, are solitary creatures, relying on themselves for sustenance and spending much social time with loved ones like a mate or kittens. Similarly, those with feline daemons tend to be introverts or ambiverts, needing plenty of time by themselves to rest and recover.

This shouldn’t be confused for lack of affection, though! Those whose personalities aren’t feline often have a very hard time understanding us cats, but that only makes it all the more special when we find someone who really does understand. When we feel comfortable with someone, it’s then that our true personalities shine!

Lynx are enigmatic yet regal, associated with perception and clarity. I imagine the introspection and thought that comes with being able to meet your own daemon is certainly a lynx trait! In terms of symbolism, lynx are one of the most spiritual types of cat; you may be a deep thinker, particularly when it comes to more complicated or more spiritual topics.

Lynx, like other felines, are masters of patience. Canada Lynx mainly live in very snowy areas, meaning extra effort in camouflage is required for a successful hunt. These cats thrive, however—their powers of perception allow them to sense the perfect moment, and their quiet patience allows them to wait for it to come up to meet them.

You may be highly thoughtful and methodical, particularly when you have a goal in mind, like a lynx on the hunt. You’re also able to see past the surface level and gaze into the deeper meanings of things, a quality I share as a fellow feline and really respect!

Quick question as well, do you live someplace cold?? I’m not sure if temperature would have an effect on the form a daemon takes, but Aurum is a sand cat and we live someplace super hot, so it’s definitely a possibility! :D

what does a dingo daemon mean?

Dingoes are very unique canines! Along with the New Guinea Singing Dog, they bridge the gap between wild canine and domestic dog.

Wild dingoes are native to Australia, and depending on the temperature of their habitat, they tend to be crepuscular. Dingoes are notably less social than wolves or coyotes, with packs functioning more similarly to packs of feral dogs; in fact, they are often solitary or stick together in mated pairs. In larger packs, though, often consisting of two mates and past offspring, they form a firm hierarchy with a dominant pair.

It's no mistake that they are seen as much less refined, yet largely more adaptable, than other wild canines. As with feral dogs, they are very opportunistic and are able to work with a large variety of different food items. This makes them extremely resilient, as are those whose daemons settle as a dingo.

Other canines, particularly dogs and wolves but excluding foxes, are very social. This lends to the stereotype that those with dog daemons are extroverts, which of course is not the case all of the time, but particularly not with dingoes. Instead, they are fiercely loyal to a small pack of loved ones.

A human with a dingo daemon, if you can earn their trust, will be a loyal friend for life. Even outside of their inner circle, though, they do tend to work well with others, even if they would prefer to be on their own or with a few close family members or friends.

However, as with dingoes in the wild, they sometimes have a bit of stigma about them. Since the wild dogs are opportunistic scavengers, some view them as "dirty" or "unrefined", and the fact that many dingoes hunt livestock when they can does not help their reputation. However, this does not reflect on their natures, only on the viewpoint of the person who sees them. In reality, they are cleverly doing what they can to provide for themselves and their families.

Those with dingo daemons are often misunderstood. Their untamed and free nature conflicts with the norms of conformity, unlike dogs or wolves who are much more prone to try and fit in. Although tending to not be very social, they are fiercely loyal to those they love and are great team workers when they need to be. They are highly intelligent and take opportunities when they come, without regard for how others may judge or scorn. Even if they seem a bit crass on the outside, they have the gentle, protective heart of other canines.

Of course, there is no one-size-fits-all! Every daemon who settles as a dingo represents a different aspect of their human's soul and psyche. In general, however, a dingo daemon reflects the wildness, adaptability, cleverness, and loyalty of their human. If your soul has chosen to settle as a dingo, you should feel lucky!
