ok but how about a lavellan who betrays rook because fuck you, you lil shit! my people's lands were stolen by shems, my culture taken away, my clan was hunted their entire life, and now you come here, fuck up a perfectly good ritual, start a blight that's wiping out my homeland and have the AUDACITY to moralize how a guy that spend hundreds of years freeing slaves is actually a terrible person, no fuck you! solas the dagger is fake, this bitch is lying!
anyway to me (heists and schemes enjoyer) the "var lath vir suledin" line is not nearly as interesting as the "i would stop you from being held captive by any means necessary :/" dialogue in haven :')
like!! ok on the face of it: lavellan is only barely more secure under the chantry than solas is. and they are actually swearing to defend him by force if the chantry tries to take him prisoner or take out blood samples from him? this is a notably kind thing to do, especially given that solas is (ostensibly) a non-dalish elf with no expectations of any support from dalish elves. he is also functionally just Regular Mage levels of ability at that point, so... it is also actually helpful, if they mean it.
and then, solas is, the dread wolf. the dalish's most disliked mythological figure. the irony is very funny. he's probably teeheeing to himself about it later. his disguise is soooo impenetrable and galaxy brained, the dalish even LIKE him in this form! they're not even shooting at him this time! oh the lies and treachery of it all. 🥚👍
and then, also, it's likely no one has actually ever said this to solas in his life. he's mostly only been mythal's lackey (not protected from anything, also not allowed to leave) or the rebellion leader (stiff upper lip, keeps chewing his own way out of enclosures, doesn't even let felassan see any weakness), so it's unlikely anyone would earnestly go "uwu i'll protect you" when they have no benefit from it, and he is just Some Guy to them?
so it's such a flop that vg lavellan goes "nahhhh. go ahead and put him in jail. i'll just go in there with him <3 i have nothing to live for nor do i have any ethical concerns about omelas <3" instead of, actually doing something fun and interesting and breaking him out of a jail for once. using any means necessary. you know?
anyway this is the mood board of what i think the ideal solavellan ending is:
thank you haha, this is unironically high praise fhdgshfjdsg
like it's pretty wild that most of solas' backstory is either him being drawn into a role he can't escape bc he trusted someone with authority over him (same thing as with leliana and briala), or him taking on a self-appointed rebellion leadership/death mission duty that he also doesn't want. like his entire "ough killing mythal deserves eternal torment. i don't want even an enemy to share my fate and i don't want my loved ones to see what i become. here's my red lyrium idol btw <3" seemed like he was genuinely just planning on dying in some fucked up way as the end of his plan before the eplerisms. and his entire flaw is being isolated and not having any actual allies.
so i think the "solution" to all this just being "lock solas into another inescapable binding in captivity and leave him it forever" is. both depressing and boring. heist that guy? it would be funny?? all the dread wolf stories are about him gnawing his legs off to escape traps, so the coolest option is actually if someone else, like a puny mortal that he overlooked and thought wasn't a real person at first, heists HIM instead, purely out of affection rather than ulterior motives.

Some elven god fight in the desert. I like the idea of the wolf jaw mask, feel free to use it (as the rest of this design) if you find it inspiring :)

Veilguard is back, folks! I've been looking forward to this one since December, but I kept suffering from the curse of lack of time!
Goddess of Self-Righteousness and God of Sunken Cost Fallacy.

You know who truly treated Solas as Wisdom? The Inquisitor.
Whether romanced or befriended.
Of course, I'm going to focus on Solavellan for this.
Inspired by this post (x)
You go to Solas to seek answers, advice, and knowledge. And he approves.
Such as in regards to his life, experiences in the Fade, and knowledge of spirits.
The approval dialogue plays out in a respectful, inquisitive, and knowledge-seeking way, especially in Haven.
Then you reach Skyhold, and you can ask for advice in regards to the Grey Wardens, Orlais, and Corypheus.
But what if find most interesting in perspective of Veilguard, you can knock him back down a peg when he becomes Pride (at least that's my interpretation) when discussing the Dalish
The full dialogue tree and credit can be found here (x)
Solas is finally not a leader of a rebellion, he is not even an adviser. His title is the Inquisition's Fade expert.
He had a lot of time on his hands, so much time he got to paint murals.
Do you know what's easier than lying? Not lying. He literally could just be the nerd that he was who had all the Inquisition's resources when it came to gaining knowledge through books and tomes the Inquisition acquired. And occasionally answer the Inquisitor's questions. He was so himself that he fell in love. Because he let himself believe the lie that he was just Solas.
He got to be just the source of wisdom. Just Solas.
