things i learned from my journey as a self-taught Digital Painter.
first of all i want to apologize for my shit-ass grammar/punctuation in advance. also i don’t think anyone will read this shit anyway but i’m sharing because i’m waiting for some crap to render and i want something to do in the meantime.
-there isn't a shortcut.
extraordinary skills require extraordinary effort, you wont reach the skill level you want if you don't invest enough time into it. i often hear "how can i reach that level fast", its about learning how to do it right as long as it takes not how fast you can achieve it so be willing to invest time and effort and you'll start seeing improvement
.-Winners started out as losers.
when you first start learning something its granted that you'll make mistakes so don't worry about that, what matters is you learning from it; that's how you make progress. being a "winner" is a process of overcoming failure by learning from it and not repeating it again and investing time to take it one step further, its a long journey, some are lucky most aren't so don't let that bring you down.
-focus on your goals, compete with your yourself and let others success inspire you not bring you down.
its very important to believe in yourself and your own ability to achieve your goal, life is a race but some of us are ahead of others, many factors contribute to this; they might've started earlier than you, had more than you had or just spent more time and mental energy than you and that's why they're ahead and its fine. however the "i will never be like them" mentality and giving up will never take you to where they are, it'll stop your progress while the gab between both of you gets longer and longer. that's like breaking your own legs in a race because someone is ahead of you, let their progress inspire you and learn from it if you can but most importantly its about how to be better than yesterday
-work hard but also learn how to take a rest and never neglect your mental and physical well-being.
this one is pretty self explanatory and very crucial so always keep that in mind, try to balance things in life. while investing a lot of time and effort into something require sacrifices in many aspects of life sometime you need a time off, while most of us act like cyborgs we're meat bags after all and meat bags get tired when they overwork themselves and will hinder your progress. here’s my progress from when i started to take digital art seriously and from late 2018, both were painted in 3 hrs don’t give up, you can do it :)
