CHIYOKO UMEHARA...
Chiyoko is an only child and lived a charmed life in the Japanese countryside with their father. Unlike many women of the time, they were afforded many freedoms by said father and were encouraged to pursue their intellectual pursuits—chief among them being English literature.
When adulthood came, Chiyoko, craving adventure and to further their knowledge, traveled to England to study literature at one of its many colleges. Possessing a naturally inquisitive mind and a knack for out-of-the-box problem-solving, their classmates—and occasionally other denizens of London—come to them to solve minor mysteries... AGE: 20s-30s. GENDER: Genderqueer (they/them). ORIENTATION: Likes men. APPEARANCE: Short, petite, with tan-ish skin, black hair, and dark brown eyes. LIKES: Animals, reading, dirty poetry, candy, walking in the park. DISLIKES: Being made to feel silly or stupid, big dogs.
Kind • Down to earth • Intellectual • A little goofy
Thinking about making a return here…
got kicked out of my house. gimme a bit to sort some stuff out and I’ll be back
Le Comte de Monte Cristo | The Count of Monte Cristo (2024) dir. Matthieu Delaporte & Alexandre de La Patellière
Helen, Helen, come home; there was a Helen before there was a War, but who remembers her? (H.D., from “Winter Love,” Selected Poems)
anyways if i could costume felicity for a movie or tv show i would have her wardrobe progress from light, innocent, flouncy numbers in pastels (before she meets klint) to dark sumptuous jewel tones (after marrying klint) to blacks and reds (after klint's confession.)
AND THEN HER FINAL MOMENTS ARE SPENT IN HER WHITE BLOODSTAINED CHEMISE...... TO SYMBOLIZE HER BEING STRIPPED DOWN AND DESPERATE AND DYING BUT ULTIMATELY INNOCENT, BUT STILL STAINED BY HER HUSBAND'S CRIMES
❝ That proves I love him better than myself. ❞ - elizabeth & ichiyo
Ichiyo's dark eyes are aglow—for Elizabeth sounds like their father in that moment, the infinite softness in her voice mirroring that of Taisuke's when he spoke of his own dearly departed wife.
How wonderful it must be, they think, to love someone so wholly and unselfishly.
"You must tell him," they insist, dabbing at their damp eyes with the sleeve of their kimono. "He must know of the depth of your feelings!"
Meg exits the stage with relief. He isn't there—he's never there—and so she returns to her dressing room to strip herself from her costume and make up, removing jewellery from ears.
It's a nice evening. The water is calm, the stars are out and after the garish lights that are Phantasma, the continuous low buzzing of them giving Meg a headache, all she wants is to slip into the cold, salt water. It was her fifth and final show of the day, she deserved something for herself. Deserved something for making through yet another day.
The unknown voice is rewarded a roll of blue eyes. Admittedly, the woman's voice causes intrigue; she's used to men wanting her time, not women. So, against her better judgement, Meg stops and turns. Before she replies, there's a cigarette between her lips and a match lighting the end. "And who are you with?" she asks dismissively, smoke billowing between them, "with the press?"
Felicity's pause is minute, momentary; she is unused to being spoken to with such coarseness, but possesses the manners necessary to smile serenely and ignore the slight. The girl (though lovely) looks haggard, anyway. Tired. Felicity will forgive her any bluntness.
"I am afraid not. My most sincere apologies for disappointing you." She casts a curious glance around the room, taking in the glitz and glamor of the costumes. "I am, however someone who frequents opera halls and other such performance venues, and I could not help but notice that you have the poise of a dancer. A real dancer, not a…" She tries to think of a polite way to put it, then decides not to risk offending the girl. "I must ask; have you ever received formal ballet training?"
