Molten Writes Intro Post

Heya everyone. It's been a while since my OG Intro post, and it needed some updating, so here we are!

I'm Molten, I mostly write fantasy! My current main project is called How Our World Ended, which is a part of the larger Souls Collide universe!

I post about that story, and any others I'm working on.

As for How Our World Ended, I'm really bad at making blurbs, but I'll try!

Long ass post discussing Racism and Homophobia ahead. You’ve been warned

Kind of a follow up from my last post, but I was discussing this with some friends lately, and it is absurd how much growth can happen.

For reference, I am currently 18.

When I was 14, I was an incredibly socially awkward kid who went to a school with a graduating class of about 30.

When I got into high-school, I naturally drifted into my “ friends “ friend groups.

And when I say they were assholes, they were ASSHOLES. The friend who brought me to them was a black man, and the lint of ridicule he faced was abhorrent. They genuinely downloaded an app on their phones which simulated a whip. You can guess how that was used. But because I was a kid, a kid who wanted to fit in, I didn’t do anything. I didn’t join in, but I didn’t help.

I had a similar experience with queerness. I am pan, and I have been since I was like 14, but I was closeted as SHIT until I was 17. And around when I was 15, I was made fun of a LOOT for being queer ( when I didn’t even think I was at the time ) which ended up with me trying to defy it with homophobic “ jokes “

Now in hindsight, that shit was awful. I, as someone who was essentially not queer, was saying awful shit because “ oh most of my friends are queer and they said it was fine “ when that logic does not absolve being an asshole. Same thing with the affirmed racists. I tried to confront them one time, but got told that it was okay “ because it was a joke “

I can’t think of any examples, but I’m sure I’ve said some things that were bad just to “ fit it “

I’m glad to not have those people in my life anymore, and I wish I had stuck up for myself and others sooner.

Another thing I want to add to this is how half assed most apologies are by celebrities. Take Michael Kovach when he got caught saying multiple slurs. That man was upset because he got caught, not because he said something awful and was remorseful.

It isint that hard to say, so I’ll show it. I have said some awful things, and I regret it, and I have learned from it.

“ just a joke “ isint an excuse for shit. So take accountability, and be better.

Also, if I EVER say anything like that, please, PLEASE call me on it, let me know of my mistake so I can be better.

Man it sucks how many people just…. suck.

Joe Hawley is one of the most talented and creative musicians I’ve ever seen, someone who has inspired so much of my creativity and tastes- and he’s a groomer.

Gooseworx made an amazing, albeit flawed show, that genuinely meant a lot to me; and then ended up being a racist asshole.

Same thing with Michael Kovack, loved him as a voice actor. Real shame that he’s such a piece of shit.

I want people to hold me to a standard if I ever gain even a bit of notoriety. Tell me what Im doing wrong so I can be better.

Yknow in the event I ever get a fandom*, here’s my take on some of the common things that happen in fandoms;

Fan content is chill and encouraged, just like- don’t charge people-

Doing commissions of my characters and shit I’m cool with, but like don’t base your whole brand off that ig?

NSFW stuff is chill, just like don’t send it to me. I don’t care if other people do it, it’s just I don’t want to see characters that are extensions of myself fucking.

Also like please don’t do incest or pedophilc ships or art. Will me saying that stop people? Nope. But that shits weird, and “ it’s fictional “ is NOT a good excuse.

General writing update

How Our World Ended books 1&2 are FULLY planned, being 25 & 24 chapters respectively. Book 3 is in progress, and once that’s done I’ll resume work on book 1! I’m gonna try ( emphasis on try ) to start writing 100-300 words a day, which would mean at least monthly chapters ( no promises )

Depression has still been getting worse so like no gaurntee on fast progress but I swear I’m trying, stuffs just been….. unpleasant as of late.

MAJOR HOW OUR WORLD ENDED UPDATE

Heya everyone, I know it's been a bit since i posted anything, but there's been life reasons for that hah. Anyways, this post is more for the writing update.

After realizing that some plot points were fucked up, I did a complete replanning of How Our World Ended ( not a new story per say, just changing stuff around and adding a bit ) to the point where I am now like 70% confident this is how the release will go. How Our World Ended will officially be split up into 2 ( maybe 3, probably 2 ) books so that it can actually release within a reasonable time. I don't have the titles figured out yet, but that'll come with time Im sure What i AM fairly sure of is the length. HOWE 1 will be 23 full chapters, with 3 smaller chapters as a prologue, epilogue, and interlude, and will be around 50,000~ words. It will have a definitive ending so that it can stand alone, i am going to try my best to not make it feel like " just the first half " of something. The main goals of the characters will be resolved in that book, although the ending will be a setup for the rest if that makes sense- Anyways that's a yap session done, I will update the AO3 and Tumblr pages soon with updated descriptions and this being a book 1. Speaking of those, Ch1 & 4 will be getting minor changes to account for the plot changes, and CH3 will be getting an overhaul soon. Anyways that's all for me, I'd like to have the posted chapters updated before the end of the month, and then try to get back to monthly ( or maybe even bi weekly ) chapters.
