I MISS YOU
We spent the last few days of the trip in Munich. We took a train ride to Judd’s brother’s house where we were staying. He and his girlfriend were super cool and we had a blast. Munich has definitely been one of my favorite cities. We rode bikes, swam, layed out, grilled brats, ate pretzels and did just about everything “German” you could do. Well, I start the journey home tomorrow morning. It has been an incredible trip and I’ll definitely be back soon. 07/13
Thanks to Casey Neistat, I heard about this crazy German waterpark, about 60 km outside of Berlin, so of course, I had to see it. It's in what used to be an airplane hangar. It was super cool and made for an awesome day.
We traveled to Sachsenhausen today. It was a concentration camp where tens of thousands of people were killed. Many other camps were modeled after this one. It was definitely a humbling experience. 07/09
Berlin! Such a large, but neat city! We checked out Alexanderplatz, the Brandenburg gate, the Tiergarten, and went out to Potsdam. It was beautiful. There were more palaces and we walked around the gardens. We also met a French couple who needed a room, so they stayed in our hostel with us. They were so nice, and meeting them encouraged me to study up on my French! 07/07
One of my goals on this trip was to make it back to the city where I was born, Bamberg, Germany. I got up early, took a train and a bus by myself and made it in the early afternoon. It was such a beautiful city. I only had a few hours, so I went and saw the Dom, the rose gardens, the Rathaus and ran up the hill to the Altenburg castle. Then, I ate gelato of course. It was a wonderful day. 07/06
We went back to Prague, and I'm so glad we did. Such a fun and beautiful city. We ate some awesome food at a swanky steak house and hung out with some cool Australians from Melbourne. My new mate, Chris, told me they eat kangaroo in Australia and I was horrified. 07/05
Well, I’ve been doing a horrible job of keeping you updated, but I went to Salzburg, Austria. I’ve been dreaming of going since I was very young. We went on the Sound of Music tour and you better believe I was singing the entire time. It was beautiful.
We also randomly met some girls from the U of A and hung out with them! It was great!
The hills are DEFINITELY alive with the Sound of Music. 07/02-07/04
Chillin' in Györ, Hungary
We made it to Debrecen, Hungary! We're nearing the end of the camp and it has been an experience to say the least. I'm absolutely exhausted and ready to just travel and take it easy. We get to sing with an orchestra tomorrow night, and I'm nervous but I know it's making me better! One of the best aspects of this trip is the fact that I've gotten closer to my teacher. I love Dr. Park.
We had a great day in Budapest yesterday! We performed at the Korean Culture Center, ate some great food, listened to good music, explored the city and went dancing to finish off the night! Now off to Debrecen!
Today was long but still incredible! We went to St. Marx Cemetery where composers such as Mozart, Schubert, Brahms and Beethoven are buried. It was absolutely surreal. We stopped in Eisenstadt to see where Haydn lived and his church. Then, we traveled to Budapest, ate some of the best food I've had on this trip, and went on a boat ride on the Danube. Absolutely beautiful!
Vienna is just as beautiful as I imagined. I'm so bummed that we were only able to spend two days here because there's so much to see. We went to the Schönbrunn Palace, Stephansplatz Church and ate some amazing Italian food. We also saw Mozart's home! We just finished our concert at a small church and the people were very pleased with our performance. This is a fun life.
Throwing it up on a train to Vienna with my crazy, incredible teacher!
Seeing Der fliegende Holländer last night!
We had a short, but wonderful time in the beautiful city of Dresden, Germany yesterday! The city is so rich in culture. We toured the city, ate some brats, went to the opera, (The Flying Dutchman), and drove back to Prague late last night. Here we come, Austria!
Great day in Bautzen, Germany! It was stressful getting here, and we barely made it, but is a beautiful city. We ate gelato and had a great time together! I love these guys.
