Been changing my profile picture every year on the start of Pride. Going to be three years consistently now and four profile pics gathered. Being part of the LGBTQ+ community is a big thing for me. It’s a huge part of my life and it inspires so much of my art.

I actually do think we should discourage women from becoming housewives. Do not become financially dependent on a man. That's how a lot of women ended up dead over the years. A man gets violent suddenly and you have to choose between homelessness or potentially dying at his hand because you have an enormous gap in your resume and no degrees or certifications or anything that will help you pursue a career that will allow you to be financially independent. He owns your bank account. His name is probably the one on the car. Try and leave and he can report it stolen. Where will you go then?

And if you do become a housewife, take steps to protect yourself. Make sure you’re legally married, for starters; stay-at-home girlfriends have very little legal recourse to claim their partner’s assets in a breakup. Make sure your name is on the house deed/rental agreement, and have your car in your name, even if your spouse is paying for it. Have your spouse transfer money every month into an account solely in your name, so you can buy yourself things without needing permission, but also so you can save up to leave if needed.

If your spouse fights you on any of this, then don’t quit your job. The tradwife to poverty pipeline is real, and so is financial abuse.

also, many women/people experience controlling behaviour and domestic violence from their partner for the first time during pregnancy. don’t risk thinking “he’s just stressed, it’ll get better when the baby comes” because it won’t. neither you and your child will ever be safe with that man. get out as early and safely as you can

It has been brought to my attention by me that I do not spend enough time on this beautiful website. I am going to do what I can to fix this issue but please be aware that I am not great at being on here anymore. I remember my prime on this site, scrolling endlessly until I reached the bottom and my internet crapped out so I couldn't scroll any further for at least 5 minutes and by that point I let the ADHD win and moved on to something else until I remembered that this website exists later that day or after a nap. That all said, I really want to do more things on here than just post the videos that I make, parsley because I do want my videos to do well on here because this website has helped form a lot of my opinions on things and I want to what showcase the work that I am doing as a way to thank this website and those were a part of my time here way back when. Also because this is the only website that truly gets me even if I am extremely shy and scared to put myself out there.

I've been thinking about this comic for a while and I think I know what would have made it more impactful. The expression is just shock. There's nothing else and when you just look shocked, nobody takes you seriously. It's an act, so he should have had a vastly different emotion for each panel. I get the comic wanted a minimalist approach since it had no text for this page, but give him some more emotion. It doesn't have to be hammy, since that's how it came across despite the artist's effort against that, but show fear, anxiety, turmoil, then pain. That would have given it more power and it wouldn't have been a joke for nearly two decades.

this trend of shitting on peer-reviewed academic studies in favor of tweeting “we already knew this was happening” is so soul-crushing. not to be an elitist cunt, but we have got to open the schools again. people genuinely seem to have forgotten that their personal lived experience isn’t indicative of the larger population, AND IF IT IS…… then you need researchers to support these assertions from a relevant data pool instead of a blog post from 2013 💀

it's also just so shitty being a scientist right now and seeing people shit on research at a time when the federal US government is trying to starve and strangle American research. like. when you say "oh we knew this already, there's no point funding research to prove it" we hear that our work doesn't have value. and if you think scientists aren't hanging out here on tumblr in our free time, well, think again.

It also ignores all the scientist who got into the field BECAUSE no one in power would believe them without empirical data. People who spend years documenting and analyzing data so it can’t be denied, so that when you need to speak to power you have a solid piece of evidence that holds weight in courts, schools, and doctors offices to stand on. Scientist who are trying to do research to lift their communities who then get spit on by said community saying ‘we already knew’ and ‘this research is pointless’.

Do you think there are no Native American scientist doing environmental research? No black women studying public health impactors? No neurodivergent pedagogy researchers? There are. They are some of the most passionate and driven scientists out there, because they are people trying to help the people and places they love.

You do your own community a discredit when you dismiss scientist doing ‘obvious’ studies because more and more often there are names on those studies from your community who have punched their way through a glass ceiling to stand before the world bloody knuckled and victorious to say “Look. Listen. Understand, accept, and change.”
