Daily UI Challenge #035 | Blog Post

I finally got into designing the daily challenges. This one is one of my favourites so far, very happy with how it turned out! :)

Instea of designing just the blog post I made it into an app designed as a blog fans would follow of their favourite writers, I also designed a quick look to how we would create a post and edit it by tapping the gray text in the last image above. Simple and plain, that is how apps looks at their best these days.

Research for Prototype 3

I have drew up a sketch a few weeks ago of another prototype of icons which would be a little different from the ones I already have made. Here is the sketch:

Its basically a set of stamps with each planet in inside it. I think it would be a cool extra set to do and it is something different. I will exclude cute faces from this one as I want it to be more serious. I will also change the backgrounds for each stamp as I want a bigger varierty. 

So I checked out pinterest for a few resources to get a perfect idea of what details to add to my own post stamps.

I like how there are so many different colours in this image. Looks like a really cool collection of stamps. These colours are defiantly something I will try out maybe even choose one colour and then go a step darker each stamps, so it will seem l the further the planet is from the sun the darker the stamp. Something worth experimenting with.

Idea Generation for Prototype 2

In the last post I talked about improving the icons for the second prototype. Later on I sat down and started sketching some new ideas. My very first attempt was at some new backgrounds and how I would position them. Then I also added a new planet characterised idea to visualise what it could look like with a background. While I was drawing these ideas I also started thinking of some new expressions and drew faces on any empty space on the side. 

Since I already started drawing faces earlier on I thought about creating a brand new set of faces. This time I did do some research online and looked at ‘kawaii faces’ which are very popular now. These are a little rough for now and I left them as pencil sketches instead of going over with a calligraphy pen. I think the best way is to illustrate them with black ink, maybe a little pink colour for a blush occasionally. 

These faces are very cute and I really like them, a lot more than the last ones I did on the planets.  Once I illustrate these, I will pick the best and most suitable ones to suit the planets.

The last sketch  was am impulse. I was opening a package and seen the stamp in the corner, out of nowhere I got the idea of drawing my own stamps and have the planets inside them, without faces this time. That is when I decided to definitely have three sets of icons. All in the same theme but in the different styles. I absolutely love the stamp idea, this way I can still create the website I planned and add extra icons to download at the bottom of the website in styles of choice.
