Rhett is an Age Regressor– Let me explain you why

(know this is all my personal opinions and headcanons so feel free to disagree)

(this is also a stretch)

This is one of the first instances we see Rhett be actually vulnerable. He doesnt open up, but he does show blu that he trusts him. Mental exhaustion can sometimes make a person look for something or someone that can comfort them without the strain of using words. And that is Something very common amongst age regressors.

In this panel we can see him looking for snowball and becoming very upset once he realizes it's not there. He physically shrinks himself in a corner and let his destructive thoughts rise. With what we know until now snowball was a stray that he took care of and helped him dissociate himself from his abusive homelife.

When overwhelmed, age regressors can look for something that are deemed "safe" and that comforted/protected them from danger The extreme thought in the last scene could show how Rhett was feeling extremely overwhelmed, and just snowball not appearing would have made him crumble–Many age regressors hide and bottle their regression up out of fear of being judged, infantilized, taken advantage of, belittled, or being caught off guard.

When your environment makes so you have to constantly be alert and tense, breaking out of that headspace can be horrible–Because you're not only alone, you're also small, defenseless, scared and you have no instructions on what to do next.

When Rhett finally reincounters with their cat, he can't hold back. He lets the tears flow, He held snowball like it would disappear again.

He calls her baby.

Maybe an extension of what he wished upon himself

I cannot stand how people interpret Dandy sometimes. Why is he always turned into some soft little “pudgy flower boii… >///<” like no. That takes all the fun out of him and just makes him boring. I like Dandy when he’s a complete comedic asshole. Like “I care about you guys!” and then immediately goes to stare at himself in the mirror for ten minutes because he just said something he thinks was super deep. That version is actually funny. And it’s not even headcanon, he literally acts like this. He’s super egotistical, selfish, greedy, and thinks he’s better than everyone. He straight up tells Vee she’ll never be as popular as him. Says Poppy Pop would’ve sold better if his face was on it. Acts like Teagan banned him from tea parties because she was “too nervous around a star” instead of him probably just being annoying. He makes Dyle do stuff for him and somehow frames it like he’s the one doing them a favor. He even takes Dyle’s earnings like it’s normal. That’s not a soft innocent guy. That’s a guy who fully believes he’s the main character of reality. And his friendships are kinda not as balanced as people pretend either. Not trying to say Dandy and Astros friendship is toxic, it’s not, but Dyle actually notices stuff about Astro and helps him out. Dandy will say he appreciates Astro, sure, but he doesn’t really show it or notice things the same way. And Dyle doesn’t even have those fake “we grew up together” memories and still pays more attention. That says a lot. So yeah, people freaking out about “making Dandy too evil” is kinda funny to me. Because honestly I’d rather have “too evil” than “too innocent.” At least evil Dandy still feels like Dandy. Innocent Dandy is just boring. My favorite version is still the idea that he started off sweet but got way too much praise and attention and it just inflated his ego into this mess. Now he’s like a walking ego with flower petals. And that’s why he’s funny. He’s like “I’m better than all of you obviously” and then immediately “anyway I care about you guys” like that fixes everything. That’s the Dandy I like. Full main character syndrome, kind of a jerk, but entertaining as hell.

Give. Me. Embarrassing agere.

Give me loud wailing and sobbing and clinging to a trusted person. Give me begging to "go home" whether that home is real and reachable or not. Give me crying for parents and siblings and grandparents and *anyone* who feels safer than the present situation.

Give me stress regression. Give me trauma response regression. Give me regression as a result of someone's self-soothing ability completely imploding.

Give me the gross parts of it. In writing, in drawings, in headcanon ramblings. The tantrums with snot and spit and red faces. The potty accidents. The bedwetting. The lashing out and yelling and hitting. The physical symptoms of feeling like you're no longer in full control of your mind and body. Let me see the MISBEHAVIOR that comes with feeling like a child in a body that's too big for you when everything is SCARY. The behavior you REGRET later.

Seeing the cozy, comforting, voluntary end of agere is so important when you're using it to comfort yourself.

But the embarrassment of it goes beyond "I use pacifiers and stuffed animals to self soothe after a hard day." for a lot of people. Acknowledge and accept that, too. Please.
