I see it in the movies, I hear it in the news, but it truly takes experiencing it to believe how terrible LAPD truly is.  I love living in SoCal, but the longer I live here, the more I realize how much better the Bay is. 

I read about it, I hear about it, I know the systems are flawed, but seeing it invites another level of understanding. 

It’s been a while since I’ve felt home sick. Also been a while since I’ve even thought about Tumblr or been on social media for that matter.  It’s definitely nostalgic to see where my mind was and how much better off I am without social media. 

The irony...  I’ve always wanted to travel the world, expand my horizons, and live/experience different places. But the more I move, the more places I miss. Each place gives me a different feeling, each place offers different memories, different groups of friends, different culture, and each teaches different lessons. Each has its own set of pros and cons, and each have felt like home. 

But where to next?  How do I make a difference? How to I continue to challenge myself? How do I change the system? I’ve been deflecting this moment for years now, but I think it’s about time to plan my next step.

Camped at Lake Powell, kayaked through slot canyons, danced underneath the stars, took a nap on Kayaks on the Colorado River, saw the sunset and sunrise while camping at horseshoe bend, ate breakfast cliffside, toured Antelope Canyon... Warriors won Game 7... I'm so high off life right now I can't even focus at work. Extravaganza was fun (: not sure when I'll ever be in SB again or see my SB friends again... I guess it was a nice way to say goodbye. I'm accustomed to people coming and going because I'm always coming and going. But it never gets easier. I'd like to believe there's a reason for everything. I hate and dread change, but my yearning for growth and fear of boredom forces me to step out of my comfort zone. Without change, there is no growth. Without moving on, there is no progress. At the end of it all I can always appreciate and say... thanks for the memories.

This past weekend I went backpacking for the first time with a group of 11 people. I never realized how big Big Sur actually was; to be able to extend all the way to SoCal. Friday Work 9 to 6 -> Home -> Venice -> Santa Maria for a sleepover.
